¹Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.

¹ خداوند می‌فرماید: «ای کسانی‌که در طلب نجات هستید، و شما کسانی‌که برای گرفتن کمک به سوی من ‌می‌آیید، به من گوش دهید. به صخره‌ای که به آن تعلّق دارید، و به معدنی که از آن استخراج شده‌‌‌اید بیندیشید.

²Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.

² به جدّ خود ابراهیم، و به ساره که تو از فرزندان آنها هستی فکر کن. وقتی من ابراهیم را خواندم او فرزندی نداشت، امّا من به او برکت دادم و او صاحب فرزندان شد، و من خاندان او را بی‌شمار ساختم.

³For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

³ «من به اورشلیم و به تمام کسانی‌که در میان خرابه‌ها زندگی می‌کنند، شفقّت خواهم نمود. اگر زمینش مثل بیابان باشد، آن را به باغی سرسبز -‌مثل باغ عدن- تبدیل خواهم کرد. آنجا از شادی و خوشی، و سرودهای ستایش و سپاس پُر خواهد بود.

⁴Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.

⁴ «ای قوم من، گوش دهید و به آنچه می‌گویم توجّه کنید: تعالیم من برای تمام ملّتهاست؛ و عدالت من برای آنها نور خواهد بود.

⁵My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.

⁵ من با سرعت می‌آیم و آنها را نجات می‌دهم، زمان پیروزی من نزدیک است. من خودم بر ملّتها حکمرانی خواهم کرد. سرزمینهای دوردست در انتظار من هستند، آنها منتظر و امیدوارند که آنها را نجات بخشم.

⁶Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

⁶ به آسمانها و به زمین نگاه کنید! آسمانها مثل دود، محو خواهند شد، و زمین مثل لباس کهنه از بین می‌رود. تمام مردم روی زمین مثل پشه‌ها خواهند مرد. امّا نجاتی که من می‌آورم ابدی و پیروزی من نهایی خواهد بود.

⁷Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.

⁷ «ای کسانی‌که می‌دانید راستی چیست و شما کسانی‌که تعالیم من در دلهای شما ثبت شده به من گوش کنید. نترسید وقتی مردم شما را سرزنش می‌کنند و به شما ناسزا می‌گویند،

⁸For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.

⁸ آنها مثل لباسهای بید خورده از بین می‌روند! امّا نجاتی که من می‌آورم ابدی و پیروزی من برای تمام زمانهاست.»

⁹Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?

⁹ ای خداوند، بیدار شو و به کمک ما بیا! با قدرت خودت ما را نجات بده، همان‌طور که در زمانهای قدیم، قدرتت کار می‌کرد. تو بودی که راهاب، هیولای دریا، را قطعه‌قطعه کردی.

¹⁰Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?

¹⁰ باز هم آن تو بودی که دریا را خشکانیدی و معبری از میان آب باز کردی، تا کسانی‌ را که می‌خواستی نجات دهی، بتوانند از آن رد شوند.

¹¹Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

¹¹ آن کسانی را که می‌خواهی آزاد کنی، با شادی و سرودخوانان به اورشلیم خواهند رسید. آنها تا ابد شاد و برای همیشه از غم و غصّه رها خواهند بود.

¹²I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;

¹² خداوند می‌گوید: «من به شما قدرت خواهم بخشید. چرا از انسان فانی، که مثل علف صحرا زودگذر است، واهمه داری؟

¹³And forgettest the LORD thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?

¹³ آیا خداوندی که تو را آفریده، آسمانها را گسترانیده، و بنیاد زمین را نهاده است، فراموش کرده‌ای؟ چرا باید دایماً از غضب کسانی‌که بر تو ستم می‌کنند و از دست آنها که آمادهٔ نابود ساختن تو هستند، در هراس باشی؟ از غضب آنها دیگر ناراحت نخواهی بود.

¹⁴The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail.

¹⁴ اسیران بزودی آزاد می‌شوند. آنها غذای فراوان خواهند داشت و عمرشان طولانی خواهد بود.

¹⁵But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts is his name.

¹⁵ «من خداوند، خدای تو هستم، من دریا را به جنبش می‌آورم و امواجش می‌خروشند، اسم من خداوند متعال است!

¹⁶And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

¹⁶ من آسمانها را گسترانیدم و بنیاد زمین را نهادم، من به اورشلیم می‌گویم: 'تو قوم من هستی! من تعالیم خود را به تو دادم، و با دست خودم از تو حمایت می‌کنم.'»

¹⁷Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out.

¹⁷ ای اورشلیم، بیدار شو! برخیز و بلندشو! تو پیالهٔ مجازاتی را که خداوند در خشم خود به تو داد، نوشیده‌ای، تو آن را تا به آخر نوشیدی و گیج شده‌ای.

¹⁸There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand of all the sons that she hath brought up.

¹⁸ کسی نیست که تو را رهبری کند، و در میان قوم خودت، کسی را نداری که دستت را بگیرد.

¹⁹These two things are come unto thee; who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort thee?

¹⁹ بلای مضاعف بر تو نازل شده است: زمینت در جنگ ویران شده و مردمانت گرسنه هستند. کسی نیست که به تو رحم و شفقت نشان دهد.

²⁰Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of thy God.

²⁰ مردم از ضعف، در گوشه‌های خیابانها افتاده‌اند. آنها مثل آهوانی هستند که در دام صیادی گرفتار شده، و شدّت خشم خداوند را حس کرده‌اند.

²¹Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine:

²¹ ای مردم رنج‌ دیدهٔ اورشلیم، ای کسی‌که از گیجی تلو‌تلو می‌خوری، هرچند مست شراب نیستی.

²²Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:

²² خداوند، خدای تو، از تو دفاع می‌کند و می‌گوید: «پیاله‌ای را که در خشم خود به تو دادم، از تو پس می‌گیرم. تو دیگر مجبور نخواهی بود از این پیاله که تو را این چنین گیج می‌کند، بنوشی. من آن را به کسانی می‌دهم که به تو ستم کردند، به کسانی که تو را مجبور کردند، در خیابانها بخوابی و تو را مثل خاک زیر پایشان لگدمال کردند.»

²³But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over.

²³ من آن را به کسانی می‌دهم که به تو ستم کردند، به کسانی که تو را مجبور کردند، در خیابانها بخوابی و تو را مثل خاک زیر پایشان لگدمال کردند.»
