¹The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

¹ خداوند، خدای اسرائیل،

²Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.

² به من گفت: «هرچه را به تو گفته‌ام در کتابی بنویس،

³For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.

³ چون زمانی خواهد آمد که من کامیابی قوم خودم، اسرائیل و یهودا را به آنها بازمی‌گردانم. من آنها را به سرزمینی که به اجدادشان داده بودم، برمی‌گردانم و آنها دوباره آن را تصاحب خواهند کرد. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

⁴And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.

⁴ خداوند به مردم اسرائیل و یهودا می‌گوید:

⁵For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.

⁵ «من فریادهای ناشی از وحشت را می‌شنوم، نه صدایی از فریادهای صلح را.

⁶Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?

⁶ لحظه‌ای صبر کنید و بیندیشید! آیا یک مرد می‌تواند بچه بزاید؟ پس چرا تمام مردان، مانند زنی در حال زایمان، دستهای خودشان را روی شکمشان گذاشته‌اند؟ چرا رنگ صورت آنها پریده است؟

⁷Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.

⁷ روزهای هولناکی در پیش است، هیچ زمان دیگری را نمی‌توان با آن مقایسه کرد، روزهای سختی و پریشانی برای قوم من، امّا آنها زنده خواهند ماند.»

⁸For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:

⁸ خداوند متعال می‌گوید: «وقتی آن روز برسد من یوغ را از گردن آنها برمی‌دارم و زنجیرهای آنان را پاره خواهم کرد و دیگر بردهٔ بیگانگان نخواهند بود.

⁹But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

⁹ در عوض، آنها در خدمت من، خداوند، خدای آنها و کسی از نسل داوود که من او را به پادشاهی نصب می‌کنم خواهند بود.

¹⁰Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.

¹⁰ ای قوم من، ترسان نباشید؛ ای مردم اسرائیل وحشت نکنید. من شما را از آن سرزمین دور، سرزمینی که در آن به اسارت رفته‌اید، نجات خواهم داد. شما به وطن خود برخواهید گشت و در صلح و آرامش خواهید زیست. شما در امنیّت زندگی خواهید کرد و هیچ‌کس شما را نخواهد ترسانید.

¹¹For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet I will not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

¹¹ من به نزد شما خواهم آمد و شما را نجات خواهم داد. من تمام ملّتهایی را که شما در میان آنها پراکنده شده‌اید از بین خواهم برد، امّا شما را نابود نخواهم کرد. شما را بدون مجازات نخواهم گذاشت، امّا مجازات شما عادلانه خواهد بود. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

¹²For thus saith the LORD, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous.

¹² خداوند به قوم خود می‌گوید: «زخم‌های تو غیرقابل علاج، و جراحات تو درمان ناشدنی است.

¹³There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines.

¹³ کسی نیست که به یاری تو بیاید و برای زخم‌های تو درمانی وجود ندارد و امیدی به شفای تو نیست.

¹⁴All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased.

¹⁴ تمام یارانت تو را فراموش کرده‌اند، و دیگر اهمیّتی به تو نمی‌دهند. من مثل یک دشمن به تو حمله کردم، مجازات تو سخت بود، چون گناهانت بی‌شمار و شرارت‌هایت بی‌حد است.

¹⁵Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.

¹⁵ دیگر از جراحتهای خود شکایت نکن، چون علاجی برای تو وجود ندارد. من تو را این‌طور مجازات کردم، چون گناهانت بی‌شمار و شرارت‌هایت بی‌حد است

¹⁶Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.

¹⁶ امّا اکنون هر که تو را ببلعد، بلعیده خواهد شد و تمام دشمنانت به اسارت برده خواهند شد. به تمام کسانی‌که به تو ظلم کنند، ظلم خواهد شد. و تمام کسانی‌که تو را غارت کردند، غارت خواهند شد.

¹⁷For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.

¹⁷ من بار دیگر سلامتی تو را برمی‌گردانم و زخمهای تو را درمان خواهم کرد، هر چند دشمنانت می‌گویند، 'صهیون متروک شده و دیگر کسی به آن اهمّیتی نمی‌دهد.' من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

¹⁸Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his dwellingplaces; and the city shall be builded upon her own heap, and the palace shall remain after the manner thereof.

¹⁸ خداوند می‌گوید: «من قوم خود را به سرزمین خودشان بازمی‌گردانم و نسبت به خانواده‌های آنها رحیم خواهم بود، اورشلیم بازسازی خواهد شد، و کاخ آن به حالت نخست برخواهد گشت.

¹⁹And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

¹⁹ مردمی که در آنجا زندگی می‌کنند، با سرودهای خودشان مرا ستایش خواهند کرد و فریاد شادی همه‌جا شنیده خواهد شد. برکت من شامل حال آنها می‌شود و تعدادشان افزون می‌گردد، برکت من بر ایشان افتخار و سربلندی خواهد آورد.

²⁰Their children also shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them.

²⁰ من قدرت گذشته را به قوم برمی‌گردانم و آنها را در جای خودشان استوار خواهم کرد، و هر که را به آنها ظلم کند، مجازات خواهم کرد.

²¹And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD.

²¹ فرمانروای خودشان از میان همین قوم و شاهزادهٔ آنها از میان مردم خودشان برخواهد خاست. وقتی او را به حضور بخوانم حاضر می‌شود، چون کسی جرأت نمی‌کند بدون دعوت نزد من آید.

²²And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

²² آنها قوم من و من خدای آنها خواهم بود. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.

²³Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked.

²³ خشم، مانند توفان و تندبادی است که در بالای سر شریران می‌خروشد. این توفان آرام نخواهد شد تا آنچه منظور نظر اوست انجام شود. در آیندهٔ نزدیک، قوم من این را به طور واضح درک خواهند کرد.

²⁴The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he hath done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it.

²⁴ این توفان آرام نخواهد شد تا آنچه منظور نظر اوست انجام شود. در آیندهٔ نزدیک، قوم من این را به طور واضح درک خواهند کرد.
