¹Furthermore Elihu answered and said,

¹ الیهو به کلام خود ادامه داده گفت:

²Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.

² ای مردان دانا، به سخنان من گوش بدهید و ای عاقلان بشنوید!

³For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.

³ همان‌طور که زبان مزهٔ غذای خوب را می‌فهمد، گوش هم سخنان خوب را تشخیص می‌دهد.

⁴Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.

⁴ پس ما باید چیزهای درست خوب را اختیار نماییم.

⁵For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.

⁵ ایّوب ادّعا کرد: «من بی‌گناه هستم و خدا مرا از حق من محروم کرده است.

⁶Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.

⁶ با وجود اینکه تقصیری ندارم، دروغگو ‌شمرده می‌شوم. هرچند خطایی از من سر نزده، ولی زخمهای علاج ناپذیر در بدن خود دارم.»

⁷What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?

⁷ آیا کسی را دیده‌اید که مثل ایّوب حرفهای مسخره بزند؟

⁸Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.

⁸ او همنشین مردم شریر است و با اشخاص گناهکار سر و کار دارد.

⁹For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

⁹ او می‌گوید: «چه فایده که انسان دنبال رضای خدا باشد؟»

¹⁰Therefore hearken unto me ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

¹⁰ ای کسانی‌که دارای عقل و شعور هستید، سخنان مرا بشنوید. خدا هرگز ظلم و بدی نمی‌کند.

¹¹For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

¹¹ او هرکسی را مطابق کارهایش مکافات می‌دهد و به طوری که سزاوار است، مجازات می‌کند.

¹²Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

¹² خدای قادر مطلق بدی را نمی‌پسندد و بی‌عدالتی نمی‌کند.

¹³Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?

¹³ اختیار تمام دنیا در دست اوست و با قدرت خود جهان را اداره می‌کند.

¹⁴If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;

¹⁴ اگر خدا اراده کند و روح و نَفَس خود را از انسان پس بگیرد،

¹⁵All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

¹⁵ همهٔ انسانها هلاک می‌شوند و به خاک برمی‌گردند.

¹⁶If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.

¹⁶ اگر شعور داری به آنچه می‌گویم گوش کن.

¹⁷Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?

¹⁷ آیا کسی‌که از عدالت نفرت دارد، می‌تواند حکمرانی کند؟ آیا می‌خواهی خدای عادل و با عظمت را محکوم کنی؟

¹⁸Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?

¹⁸ خدا پادشاهان و حاکمان را اگر بدکار و شریر باشند محکوم می‌سازد.

¹⁹How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

¹⁹ او از فرمانروایان طرفداری نمی‌کند و ثروتمندان را بر فقرا ترجیح نمی‌دهد، زیرا همگی را دست توانای او خلق کرده است.

²⁰In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.

²⁰ انسان ناگهان در نیمهٔ شب می‌میرد و خدا در یک لحظه جان او را می‌گیرد و به راحتی قدرتمندترین انسانها را به دیار نیستی می‌فرستد.

²¹For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.

²¹ چشمان تیزبین او همهٔ کارهای بشر را می‌بیند و هر قدم او را زیر نظر دارد.

²²There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

²² هیچ تاریکی نمی‌تواند اشخاص گناهکار را از نظر خدا پنهان کند.

²³For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.

²³ لازم نیست خدا برای داوری انسان زمانی را تعیین کند.

²⁴He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.

²⁴ زورمندان را بدون تحقیق از بین می‌برد و دیگران را جانشین آنها می‌سازد.

²⁵Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.

²⁵ زیرا او از تمام کارهایشان آگاه است و شبانگاه آنها را سرنگون می‌کند.

²⁶He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;

²⁶ آنها را در حضور همهٔ مردم به‌خاطر کارهای بدشان مجازات می‌کند،

²⁷Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:

²⁷ چون آنها از راه خدا منحرف شده و از دستورات او پیروی نمی‌کنند.

²⁸So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.

²⁸ آنها چنان ظلمی در حق مردم مسکین و فقیر نمودند که خدا فریاد نالهٔ آنها را شنید.

²⁹When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

²⁹ اگر خدا نخواهد به کمک آنها برسد، چه کسی می‌تواند از او ایراد بگیرد؟ اگر او روی خود را بپوشاند، چه کسی یا قومی می‌تواند او را ببیند؟

³⁰That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.

³⁰ ملّتها هیچ‌کاری نمی‌توانند بکنند که بی‌خدایان بر آنها حکومت کنند.

³¹Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:

³¹ ایّوب، تو باید به گناهان خود در حضور خدا اعتراف نمایی و قول بدهی که دیگر گناه نکنی.

³²That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

³² از خدا بخواه که گناهانت را به تو نشان بدهد و باید از کارهای بدی که کرده‌ای، دست بکشی.

³³Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.

³³ تو با کارهای خدا مخالفت می‌‌کنی و بازهم انتظار داری که او آنچه را که می‌خواهی برایت انجام بدهد. حالا خودت تصمیم بگیر نه من، و بگو که چه فکر می‌کنی.

³⁴Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.

³⁴ کسی‌که عاقل است و شعور دارد و حرف مرا می‌شنود، تصدیق می‌کند

³⁵Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.

³⁵ که حرفهای تو همه احمقانه و بی‌معنی هستند.

³⁶My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.

³⁶ تو مانند اشخاص شریر حرف می‌زنی و باید جزا ببینی. تو با نافرمانی خود بر گناهانت می‌افزایی و در حضور همگی به خدا اهانت می‌کنی.

³⁷For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.

³⁷ تو با نافرمانی خود بر گناهانت می‌افزایی و در حضور همگی به خدا اهانت می‌کنی.
