¹Elihu spake moreover, and said,

¹ الیهو در ادامهٔ سخنان خود گفت:

²Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?

² ایّوب، آیا صحیح است که ادّعا می‌‌کنی در نظر خدا بی‌عیب هستی؟

³For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

³ یا از خدا بپرسی، اگر گناه کنم به تو چه تأثیر می‌کند و چه فایده اگر گناه نکنم؟

⁴I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

⁴ من به تو و به دوستانت که همراه تو هستند، جواب می‌دهم.

⁵Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

⁵ به آسمان بنگر و ببین که ابرها چقدر بلند هستند.

⁶If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

⁶ اگر گناه کنی، گناه تو چه صدمه‌ای به خدا می‌رساند؟ اگر خطاهای تو زیاد شوند، به او چه تأثیر می‌کند؟

⁷If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

⁷ یا اگر پاک باشی چه فایده‌ای به او می‌رسانی و چه چیزی به او می‌بخشی؟

⁸Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

⁸ بدی و خوبی تو در انسانها تأثیر می‌کند.

⁹By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

⁹ وقتی مردم ظلم می‌بینند، فریاد برمی‌آورند و می‌نالند و می‌خواهند که کسی به آنها کمک کند.

¹⁰But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

¹⁰ امّا آنها برای کمک به سوی خدایی که خالق آنهاست و در تاریکترین روزهای زندگی به آنها امید می‌بخشد

¹¹Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

¹¹ و آنها را داناتر از حیوانات و پرندگان هوا ساخته است، به خدا روی نمی‌آورند.

¹²There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

¹² آنها فریاد می‌زنند، امّا خدا فریادشان را نمی‌شنود، زیرا اشخاصی مغرور و شریر هستند.

¹³Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

¹³ فریادشان سودی ندارد، چرا که خدای قادر مطلق نه فریاد پوچ آنها را می‌شنود و نه به آن توجّه می‌کند.

¹⁴Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.

¹⁴ تو می‌گویی نمی‌توانی خدا را ببینی، امّا صبر کن، او به دعوی تو رسیدگی می‌کند.

¹⁵But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:

¹⁵ تو فکر می‌‌کنی که خدا بدکاران را جزا نمی‌دهد و به گناهشان توجّه نمی‌کند. این حرفها همه پوچ و بی‌معنی می‌باشند و تو از روی نادانی حرف می‌زنی.

¹⁶Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
