¹Elihu also proceeded, and said,

¹ صبور باش و قدری بیشتر گوش بده که از طرف خدا چه می‌گویم.

²Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.

² معلومات خود را به کار می‌گیرم تا نشان بدهم که خالق من، خدا عادل است.

³I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

³ من که در برابر تو ایستاده‌ام دروغ نمی‌گویم و دانش من کامل است.

⁴For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.

⁴ خدا در واقع با عظمت و داناست و کسی را ذلیل و خوار نمی‌شمارد.

⁵Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

⁵ اشخاص شریر را زنده نمی‌گذارد و به داد مردم مظلوم می‌رسد.

⁶He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.

⁶ به مردمان نیک توجّه دارد و آنها را به تخت پادشاهی می‌نشاند و تا به ابد سرفراز می‌سازد.

⁷He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

⁷ امّا اگر با زنجیرها بسته شوند و به‌خاطر آنچه که انجام داده‌اند به مصیبتی گرفتار شوند،

⁸And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;

⁸ خدا خطاها و گناهشان را که از روی غرور مرتکب شده‌اند، به رخ آنها می‌کشد.

⁹Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

⁹ گوشهایشان را باز می‌کند تا دستورات او را بشنوند و از کارهای خطا دست بکشند.

¹⁰He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

¹⁰ هرگاه سخنان او را شنیده، از او اطاعت کنند، در تمام عمر خود سعادتمند و خوشحال خواهند شد.

¹¹If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

¹¹ امّا اگر نافرمانی کنند، با شمشیر کشته می‌شوند و در نادانی خواهند مرد.

¹²But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

¹² آنانی که بی‌خدا می‌باشند، همیشه خشمگین هستند و حتّی در وقت هلاکت هم از خدا کمک نمی‌طلبند.

¹³But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

¹³ در جوانی می‌میرند و عمرشان با ننگ و رسوایی به پایان می‌رسد.

¹⁴They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.

¹⁴ امّا خدا رنجدیدگان را از سختی و زحمت نجات می‌دهد و در حقیقت وقتی‌که رنج می‌بینند، گوشهایشان را باز می‌کنند.

¹⁵He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.

¹⁵ خدا تو را از رنج و مصیبت می‌رهاند و به جایی می‌آورد که خوشبخت و آرام باشی و سفرهٔ تو را با نعمات خود پُر می‌کند.

¹⁶Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.

¹⁶ امّا اکنون به‌خاطر شرارت خود سزاوار مجازات هستی.

¹⁷But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.

¹⁷ پس احتیاط کن، مبادا کسی تو را با رشوه و ثروت از راه راست منحرف سازد.

¹⁸Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.

¹⁸ ناله و فریاد تو سودی ندارد و با قدرت خود نمی‌توانی از مصیبت رهایی یابی.

¹⁹Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.

¹⁹ در آرزوی فرا رسیدن شب نباش، چرا که شب وقت هلاکت ملّتهاست.

²⁰Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.

²⁰ به راه گناه مرو، زیرا به‌خاطر گناه بود که تو به این مصیبتها گرفتار شدی.

²¹Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.

²¹ به یادآور که قدرت خدا چقدر عظیم است؛ او معلّمی است که همتا ندارد.

²²Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?

²² چه کسی می‌تواند به او بگوید که چه کند و یا او را متّهم به بی‌عدالتی نماید؟

²³Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?

²³ مردم همیشه کارهای خدا را ستایش کرده‌اند، تو هم باید او را به‌خاطر کارهایش ستایش کنی.

²⁴Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.

²⁴ همهٔ مردم کارهای او را دیده‌اند و از دور مشاهده کرده‌اند.

²⁵Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.

²⁵ ما نمی‌توانیم عظمت خدا را بکلّی درک کنیم و به ازلی بودن او پی ببریم.

²⁶Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

²⁶ او آب را به صورت بخار به هوا می‌فرستد و از آن قطرات باران را می‌سازد.

²⁷For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:

²⁷ بعد ابرها باران را به فراوانی برای انسان می‌ریزند.

²⁸Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.

²⁸ کسی نمی‌داند که ابرها چگونه در آسمان حرکت می‌کنند و غرّش رعد از آسمان خدا چگونه برمی‌خیزد!

²⁹Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?

²⁹ می‌بینید که چگونه آسمان را با برق روشن می‌سازد، امّا اعماق دریا همچنان تاریک می‌ماند.

³⁰Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.

³⁰ خدا روزیِ مردم را آماده کرده، به فراوانی به آنها می‌دهد.

³¹For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.

³¹ برق را با دستهای خود می‌گیرد و به هدف می‌زند. رعد، فرا رسیدن توفان را اعلام می‌کند و حیوانات هم از آمدن آن باخبر می‌شوند.

³²With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.

³² رعد، فرا رسیدن توفان را اعلام می‌کند و حیوانات هم از آمدن آن باخبر می‌شوند.

³³The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.
