¹Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

¹ آنگاه ایّوب به خداوند چنین جواب داد. ایّوب

²I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.

² من می‌دانم که تو قادر به هر کاری هستی و هیچ‌کسی نمی‌تواند، تو را از اراده‌ات باز دارد.

³Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

³ تو پرسیدی: 'چرا با سخنان بی‌معنی خود حکمت مرا انکار می‌‌کنی؟' من به راستی از روی نادانی حرف زدم و نمی‌دانستم چه می‌گویم. دربارهٔ چیزهایی سخن گفتم که بالاتر از فهم من بودند.

⁴Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

⁴ به من گفتی که سخنانت را گوش کنم و به سؤالهایی که از من می‌‌کنی، جواب بدهم.

⁵I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.

⁵ قبل از این گوش من دربارهٔ تو چیزهایی شنیده بود، امّا اکنون چشم من تو را می‌بیند،

⁶Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

⁶ بنابراین از خودم بدم می‌آید و در خاک و خاکستر می‌نشینم و توبه می‌کنم.

⁷And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.

⁷ بعد از آن که خداوند سخنان خود را با ایّوب تمام کرد، به الیفاز تیمانی فرمود: «من از تو و دو دوستت خشمگین هستم، زیرا شما مانند بنده‌ام، ایّوب دربارهٔ من حرف درست نزدید.

⁸Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.

⁸ پس حالا هفت گوساله و هفت قوچ گرفته پیش بنده‌ام، ایّوب بروید و آنها را به‌خاطر گناه خود به عنوان قربانی سوختنی تقدیم کنید. آنگاه بندهٔ من، ایّوب برای شما دعا می‌کند و من دعایش را می‌پذیرم و گناه شما را می‌بخشم، چرا که دربارهٔ من مانند ایّوب حقیقت را در مورد من بیان نکرده‌اید.»

⁹So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.

⁹ پس الیفاز تیمانی، بلدد شوحی و صوفر نعماتی رفتند و همان‌طور که خداوند فرموده بود عمل کردند و خداوند دعای ایّوب را در حق آنها مستجاب نمود.

¹⁰And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

¹⁰ پس از آن که ایّوب برای دوستان خود دعا کرد، خداوند باز ایّوب را کامیاب ساخت و دو برابر همهٔ چیزهایی را که در گذشته داشت، به او بازگردانید.

¹¹Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.

¹¹ سپس همهٔ برادران، خواهران و آشنایانش به‌خاطر مصیبتی که بر سر او آمده بود، برای تسلّی پیش او آمدند و در خانه‌اش جشن گرفتند. هر کدام آنها پول و انگشتر طلا به او هدیه دادند.

¹²So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

¹² خداوند در سالهای آخر عمر ایّوب، بیشتر از اول به او برکت داد. او دارای چهارده هزار گوسفند، شش هزار شتر، هفت هزار جفت گاو و هزار الاغ ماده شد.

¹³He had also seven sons and three daughters.

¹³ او همچنین هفت پسر و سه دختر به نامهای یمیمه، قصیعه و قَرَن هفوک داشت.

¹⁴And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.

¹⁴ در تمام آن سرزمین هیچ زنی، زیبایی دختران ایّوب را نداشت و پدرشان به آنها هم مانند برادرانشان ارث داد.

¹⁵And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.

¹⁵ بعد از آن ایّوب یکصد و چهل سال دیگر زندگی کرد و فرزندان و نوه‌های خود را تا نسل چهارم دید. او پس از یک عمر طولانی در سن پیری و سالخوردگی چشم از جهان فرو بست.

¹⁶After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.

¹⁶ او پس از یک عمر طولانی در سن پیری و سالخوردگی چشم از جهان فرو بست.

¹⁷So Job died, being old and full of days.
