¹Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.

¹ وای به حال من! زیرا مانند شخص گرسنه‌ای هستم که نه میوه‌ای بر درختان و نه انگوری بر تاکها پیدا می‌کند و هیچ انگور یا انجیری باقی نمانده است.

²The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

² مردم درستکار از روی زمین محو شده‌اند و هیچ شخص درستکاری در بین مردم دیده نمی‌شود. همگی برای ریختن خون در کمین نشسته و برای کشتن یکدیگر دام گسترده‌اند.

³That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

³ دستهایشان برای شرارت و جنایت مهارت دارد. حاکم و قاضی رشوه می‌خورند. اشخاص بزرگ به آنها می‌گویند که چه میل دارند و چه می‌خواهند و با هم نقشه می‌کشند.

⁴The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

⁴ بهترین و امین‌ترین آنها، همچون خار بی‌ارزش هستند. روز مجازات آنها که انبیا گفته‌اند، فرا رسیده است و همگی مضطرب و پریشان می‌شوند.

⁵Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

⁵ به دوست و رفیق خود اعتماد مکن و حتّی به همسرت اعتماد مکن و متوجّه حرف دهانت باش.

⁶For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

⁶ در این زمان پسر به پدر خود توهین می‌کند. دختر مخالف مادر است و عروس با مادر شوهرش دشمنی می‌کند. اهل خانهٔ شخص، دشمن او می‌باشند.

⁷Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

⁷ امّا چشم امید من به سوی خداوند است و با اعتماد کامل منتظرم تا خدا مرا نجات بدهد. خدای من دعای مرا مستجاب خواهد کرد.

⁸Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

⁸ ای دشمنان بر روزگار بد ما شادی نکنید، زیرا اگر چه بیفتیم دوباره برمی‌خیزیم. اگر در تاریکی باشیم، خداوند نور و روشنایی ما خواهد بود.

⁹I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

⁹ ما در برابر خداوند گناه کرده‌ایم، بنابراین مدّتی قهر و غضب او را متحمّل می‌شویم، امّا سرانجام از ما در برابر دشمنان حمایت خواهد کرد و آنها را به‌خاطر بدیهایی که در حق ما کرده‌اند مجازات خواهد کرد. او ما را از تاریکی به روشنایی هدایت خواهد کرد و ما عمل نجاتبخش او را خواهیم دید.

¹⁰Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

¹⁰ آنگاه دشمنانی که از روی طعنه به ما می‌گفتند: «خداوند، خدای شما کجاست؟» چون می‌بینند که خداوند پشتیبان ماست شرمنده و سرافکنده خواهند شد و با چشمان خود خواهیم دید که آنها مانند گِل کوچه پایمال خواهند شد.

¹¹In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.

¹¹ ای اورشلیم، روزی فرامی‌رسد که دیوارهای شهرهایت بازسازی خواهند شد و تو بیش از پیش توسعه خواهی ‌یافت.

¹²In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.

¹² مردم تو از آشور و مصر، از نواحی رود فرات، از سواحل دریاها و کوهستان‌های دوردست نزد تو بازمی‌گردند،

¹³Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.

¹³ امّا سایر کشورهای روی زمین به‌خاطر گناهان ساکنان آن ویران می‌شوند.

¹⁴Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

¹⁴ ای خداوند، بیا و بر قوم برگزیدهٔ خود شبانی کن و آنها را که همچون گوسفندان در جنگلها تنها مانده‌اند، مانند دوران گذشته به چراگاههای سرسبزِ باشان و جلعاد هدایت فرما.

¹⁵According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things.

¹⁵ خداوندا، مانند زمانی که ما را از سرزمین مصر بیرون آوردی، به ما معجزه‌های بزرگ نشان بده.

¹⁶The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.

¹⁶ اقوام دیگر کارهای تو را می‌بینند و با تمام قدرتی که دارند، شرمنده می‌شوند و از ترس دهان خود را خواهند بست و گوشهای خود را خواهند گرفت.

¹⁷They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee.

¹⁷ مانند مار زمین را می‌لیسند و مانند خزندگان از غارهای خود بیرون خواهند خزید و با ترس و لرز به سوی تو که خداوند و خدای ما هستی بازمی‌گردند.

¹⁸Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

¹⁸ خداوندا، هیچ خدایی مانند تو نیست. تو گناه بندگانت را می‌آمرزی و تقصیرات بازماندگان قومت را می‌بخشی، و چون بر بندگانت رحمت و شفقت داری، برای همیشه خشمگین نمی‌مانی.

¹⁹He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

¹⁹ دوباره بر ما مهربان می‌شوی. گناهان ما را در زیر قدمهایت پایمال می‌کنی و همه را در اعماق دریا می‌افکنی. به وعده‌ای که به قوم خود، یعنی فرزندان ابراهیم و یعقوب داده‌ای وفادار بوده و آنها را از محبّت پایدارت برخوردار می‌سازی.

²⁰Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.

²⁰ به وعده‌ای که به قوم خود، یعنی فرزندان ابراهیم و یعقوب داده‌ای وفادار بوده و آنها را از محبّت پایدارت برخوردار می‌سازی.
