³Cine iubeşte înţelepciunea înveseleşte pe tatăl său, dar cine umblă cu curvele risipeşte averea. -

⁴The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

⁴Un împărat întăreşte ţara prin dreptate, dar cine ia mită, o nimiceşte. -

⁵A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

⁵Cine linguşeşte pe aproapele său, îi întinde un laţ supt paşii lui. -

⁶In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

⁶În păcatul omului rău este o cursă, dar cel bun biruie şi se bucură. -

⁷The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

⁷Cel bun pricepe pricina săracilor, dar cel rău nu poate s'o priceapă. -

⁸Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

⁹If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

⁹Cînd se ceartă un înţelept cu un nebun, să se tot supere sau să tot rîdă, căci pace nu se face. -

¹⁰The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

¹⁰Oamenii setoşi de sînge urăsc pe omul fără prihană, dar oamenii fără prihană îi ocrotesc viaţa. -

¹¹A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

¹¹Nebunul îşi arată toată patima, dar înţeleptul o stăpîneşte. -

¹²If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

¹²Cînd celce stăpîneşte dă ascultare cuvintelor mincinoase, toţi slujitorii lui sînt nişte răi. -

¹³The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

¹³Săracul şi asupritorul se întîlnesc, dar Domnul le luminează ochii la amîndoi,

¹⁴The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

¹⁵The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

¹⁵Nuiaua şi certarea dau înţelepciunea, dar copilul lăsat de capul lui face ruşine mamei sale. -

¹⁶When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

¹⁶Cînd se înmulţesc cei răi, se înmulţeşte şi păcatul, dar cei buni le vor vedea căderea. -

¹⁷Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

¹⁷Pedepseşte-ţi fiul, şi el îţi va da odihnă, şi îţi va aduce desfătare sufletului. -

¹⁸Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

¹⁸Cînd nu este nicio descoperire dumnezeiască, poporul este fără frîu; dar ferice de poporul care păzeşte legea! -

²²An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

²³A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

²⁴Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

²⁴Cine împarte cu un hoţ îşi urăşte viaţa, aude blestemul, şi nu spune nimic. -

²⁵The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

²⁵Frica de oameni este o cursă, dar cel ce se încrede în Domnul n'are dece să se teamă. -

²⁶Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.

²⁶Mulţi umblă după bunăvoinţa celui ce stăpîneşte, dar Domnul este acela care face dreptate fiecăruia.

²⁷An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

²⁷Omul nelegiuit este o scîrbă înaintea celor neprihăniţi, dar cel ce umblă fără prihană este o scîrbă înaintea celor răi.
