¹Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

¹(O rugăciune a lui David.) Doamne, ascultă-mi pricina nevinovată, ia aminte la strigătele mele, pleacă urechea la rugăciunea mea, făcută cu buze neprefăcute!

²Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

²Să se arate dreptatea mea înaintea Ta, şi să privească ochii Tăi neprihănirea mea!

³Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

³Dacă îmi vei cerca inima, dacă o vei cerceta noaptea, dacă mă vei încerca, nu vei găsi nimic: căci ce-mi iese din gură, aceea şi gîndesc.

⁴Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

⁴Cît priveşte legăturile cu oamenii, eu, după cuvîntul buzelor Tale, mă feresc de calea celor asupritori;

⁵Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

⁵paşii mei stau neclintiţi pe cărările Tale, şi nu mi se clatină picioarele.

⁶I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

⁶Strig către Tine, căci m'asculţi, Dumnezeule! Pleacă-Ţi urechea spre mine, ascultă cuvîntul meu!

⁷Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

⁷Arată-Ţi bunătatea Ta cea minunată, Tu, care scapi pe cei ce caută adăpost, şi -i izbăveşti de protivnicii lor, prin dreapta Ta!

⁸Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

⁸Păzeşte-mă ca lumina ochiului, ocroteşte-mă, la umbra aripilor Tale,

⁹From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

⁹de cei răi, cari mă prigonesc, de vrăjmaşii mei de moarte, cari mă împresoară.

¹⁰They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

¹⁰Ei îşi închid inima, au cuvintele semeţe în gură.

¹¹They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

¹¹Se ţin de paşii mei, mă înconjoară chiar, mă pîndesc ca să mă trîntească la pămînt.

¹²Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

¹²Parcă ar fi un leu lacom după pradă, un pui de leu, care stă la pîndă în culcuşul lui.

¹³Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

¹³Scoală-te, Doamne, ieşi înaintea vrăjmaşului, doboară -l! Izbăveşte-mă de cel rău cu sabia Ta!

¹⁴From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

¹⁴Scapă-mă de oameni, cu mîna Ta, Doamne, de oamenii lumii acesteia, cari îşi au partea lor în viaţa aceasta, şi cărora le umpli pîntecele cu bunătăţile Tale. Copiii lor sînt sătui şi prisosul lor îl lasă pruncilor lor.

¹⁵As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

¹⁵Dar eu, în nevinovăţia mea, voi vedea Faţa Ta: cum mă voi trezi, mă voi sătura de chipul Tău.
