¹Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

¹Vtedy odpovedal Hospodin Jobovi z víchrice a riekol:

²Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

²Kto je to, ktorý to zatemňuje radu slovami bez známosti?

³Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

³Nože prepáš svoje bedrá jako muž, a budem sa ťa pýtať, a ty mi oznám!

⁴Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

⁴Kde si bol, keď som zakladal zem? Oznám, akže znáš rozum?

⁵Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

⁵Kto položil jej rozmery, keď vieš? Alebo kto roztiahol po nej šnúru?

⁶Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

⁶Na čom stoja a do čoho sú zapustené jej podstavce, alebo kto položil jej uholný kameň,

⁷When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

⁷keď spolu plesaly hviezdy rána, a keď jasali všetci synovia Boží?

⁸Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?

⁸A kto zatarasil dverami more, keď sa vyrútilo, vyšlo zo života matky?

⁹When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,

⁹Keď som rozložil oblak za jeho odev a mrákavu za jeho plienky?

¹⁰And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,

¹⁰A keď som mu vydal svoj zákon a položil som závory a vráta

¹¹And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

¹¹a riekol som: Potiaľto prijdeš a nie ďalej, a tu položia hať proti pýche tvojich vĺn!?

¹²Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;

¹²Či si voľakedy za svojich dní rozkázal ránu? Či si ukázal rannej zore, kde je jej miesto,

¹³That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

¹³poveliac, aby sa chopila krýdel zeme, a aby boli strasení s nej bezbožníci?

¹⁴It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.

¹⁴Nech sa prevracia a mení tvar ako pečatná hmota, a iné veci nech sa postavia ako rúcho!

¹⁵And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.

¹⁵A tak nech je odňaté od bezbožných ich svetlo, a vysoké rameno nech sa poláme!

¹⁶Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?

¹⁶Či si voľakedy prišiel až ku žriedlam mora alebo či si sa prechádzal po vnútri priepasti?

¹⁷Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

¹⁷Či sú ti zjavené brány smrti, alebo brány tône smrti si videl?

¹⁸Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.

¹⁸Či si si prezrel všetko až po šírky zeme? Oznám, ak ju znáš celú!

¹⁹Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,

¹⁹Kde je cesta na miesto ta, kde býva svetlo? Alebo čo do tmy, kde je jej miesto?

²⁰That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

²⁰Aby si to pojal a odviedol v jeho medze a keď rozumieš chodníkom, ktoré vedú k jeho domu?

²¹Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?

²¹Pravda vieš, lebo si sa vtedy narodil, a počet tvojich dňov je veľký!

²²Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

²²Či si prišiel voľakedy k pokladom snehu a poklady kamenca si videl?

²³Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

²³Ktoré zdŕžam u seba na čas súženia, na deň boja a vojny?

²⁴By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?

²⁴Kde je cesta na miesto ta, kde sa delí svetlo, ktoré rozháňa východný vietor po zemi?

²⁵Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;

²⁵Kto rozdelil povodni prietok v obe strany a cestu blesku zvukov hromu,

²⁶To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;

²⁶aby dal pršať na zem, kde nieto nikoho, na púšť, na ktorej neni človeka?

²⁷To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?

²⁷Aby nasýtil pustinu a miesta obrátené na púšť, a spôsobil to, aby rástla mladistvá tráva zelená?

²⁸Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?

²⁸Či má dážď otca, alebo kto plodí kvapky rosy?

²⁹Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?

²⁹Z čieho života vychádza mráz, a okyť nebies, kto ju plodí?

³⁰The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

³⁰Vody sa skrývajú ako pod kameň, a tvár priepasti zamrznúc drží sa spolu.

³¹Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

³¹Či si sviazal sväzky Plejad alebo či si rozviazal povrazy Oriona?

³²Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

³²Či vyvedieš Mazzárot svojím časom? Alebo Arktura i s jeho synmi povedieš?

³³Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

³³Či znáš zákony nebies? Či položíš toho správu na zemi?

³⁴Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?

³⁴Či pozdvihneš svoj hlas k oblaku, aby ťa pokryla hojnosť vody?

³⁵Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?

³⁵Či pošleš blesky hromu, a pojdú? A či ti azda povedia: Hľa, tu sme?

³⁶Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

³⁶Kto vložil do ľadvín múdrosť alebo kto dal srdcu rozum?

³⁷Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,

³⁷Kto spočíta oblaky v svojej múdrosti, a nebeské kožice vody kto nahne,

³⁸When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?

³⁸keď sa sleje prach zeme v pevnú sliatinu, a hrudy sú pevne slepené?

³⁹Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,

³⁹Či ulovíš ľvici korisť a hltavosť ľvíčat ukojíš,

⁴⁰When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?

⁴⁰keď sa krčia v pelešiach, sedia v húšti čihajúc?

⁴¹Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.

⁴¹Kto pripravuje havranovi jeho pokrm, keď volajú jeho mláďatá k silnému Bohu, keď blúdia bez potravy?
