¹The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

²Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

²Nepomôžu bezbožné poklady, ale spravedlivosť vytrhne zo smrti.

³The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

³Hospodin nedá lačnieť duši spravedlivého; ale to, po čom dychtia bezbožní, odmrští.

⁴He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

⁴Chudobný bude ten, kto robí ľstivou rukou, ale ruka usilovných obohacuje.

⁵He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

⁵Ten, kto shromažďuje v lete, je rozumný syn; ten, kto vyspáva v žatve, je syn, ktorý robí hanbu.

⁶Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

⁶Požehnania prijdú na hlavu spravedlivého, ale ústa bezbožných prikrývajú ukrutnosť.

⁷The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

⁷Pamiatka spravedlivého je na požehnanie, ale meno bezbožníkov zhnije.

⁸The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

⁸Ten, kto je múdreho srdca prijme prikázania, ale blázon pochabých rtov bude porazený.

⁹He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

⁹Ten, kto chodí v bezúhonnosti, pojde bezpečne; ale ten, ktorého cesty sú krivé, pozná sa.

¹⁰He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

¹⁰Ten, kto žmurká okom, pôsobí trápenie, a blázon pochabých rtov bude porazený.

¹¹The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

¹¹Ústa spravedlivého sú prameňom života, ale ústa bezbožných prikrývajú ukrutnosť.

¹²Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

¹²Nenávisť vzbudzuje sváry, ale láska prikrýva všetky prestúpenia.

¹³In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

¹³Vo rtoch rozumného nachodí sa múdrosť, ale palica na chrbát toho, kto je bez rozumu.

¹⁴Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

¹⁴Múdri skrývajú známosť, ale ústa blázna blízka zkaza.

¹⁵The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

¹⁵Majetok bohatého je jeho pevným mestom; zkazou chudobných je ich chudoba.

¹⁶The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

¹⁶Práca spravedlivého je na život, dôchodok bezbožného na hriech.

¹⁷He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

¹⁷Cestou k životu putuje ten, kto ostríha kázeň; ale ten, kto opúšťa karhanie, blúdi.

¹⁸He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

¹⁸Ten, kto prikrýva nenávisť, je človek lživých rtov, a ten, kto vynáša zlú povesť, je blázon.

¹⁹In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

¹⁹Hovoriť mnoho nie je bez hriechu; ale ten, kto zdržuje svoje rty, má rozum.

²⁰The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

²⁰Jazyk spravedlivého je výborným striebrom; srdce bezbožných s jeho rozumom stojí za málo.

²¹The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

²¹Rty spravedlivého pasú mnohých, a blázni zomierajú preto, že sú bez rozumu.

²²The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

²²Požehnanie Hospodinovo je to, čo obohacuje, a nepridáva s ním trápenia.

²³It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

²³Bláznovi je žartom robiť nešľachetnosť, a tak je umnému mužovi múdrosť.

²⁴The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

²⁴Čoho sa obáva bezbožný, to prijde na neho, a to, čo si žiadajú spravedliví, dá Bôh.

²⁵As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

²⁵Ako prejde víchrica, už aj nieto bezbožníka; ale spravedlivý je základom večnosti.

²⁶As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

²⁶Jako ocot zubom a jako dym očiam, tak je lenivý tým, ktorí ho posielajú.

²⁷The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

²⁷Bázeň Hospodinova pridáva dní, a roky bezbožných bývajú ukrátené.

²⁸The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

²⁸Očakávanie spravedlivých je radosť, ale nádej bezbožných zahynie.

²⁹The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

²⁹Cesta Hospodinova je pevnosťou bezúhonnosti a zkazou tým, ktorí páchajú neprávosť.

³⁰The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

³⁰Spravedlivý sa nepohne na veky, ale bezbožníci nebudú bývať v zemi.

³¹The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

³¹Ústa spravedlivého vydávajú múdrosť, ale jazyk prevráteností bude vyťatý.

³²The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
