¹Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

⁴A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

⁴Chrabrá žena statočná je korunou svojho muža; ale jako hnis v jeho kostiach je tá, ktorá pôsobí hanbu.

⁵The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

⁵Myšlienky spravedlivých sú spravedlivým súdom; zúmysly bezbožníkov sú lesť.

⁶The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

⁶Slová bezbožníkov sú nastrojené úkladiť krvi; a ústa úprimných? Tie ich vytrhnú zo zlého.

⁷The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

⁷Len prevrátiť bezbožníkov, a niet ich; ale dom spravedlivých obstojí.

⁸A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

⁸Človeka chvália podľa jeho rozumu; ale tým, kto je prevráteného srdca, budú opovrhovať.

⁹He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

⁹Lepší je nevážený, ktorý má sluhu, ako ten, kto sa robí slávnym a nemá chleba.

¹⁰A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

¹⁰Spravedlivý zná dušu svojho hoväda a pečuje oň, ale srdce bezbožných je ukrutné.

¹¹He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

¹¹Ten, kto obrába svoju zem, nasýti sa chleba; ale ten, kto nasleduje zaháľačov, je bez rozumu.

¹²The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

¹²Bezbožník pachtí po love zlých ľudí, ale koreň spravedlivých vydáva ovocie.

¹³The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

¹³V prestúpení rtov leží osídlo pre zlého, ale spravedlivý vyjde z úzkosti.

¹⁴A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

¹⁴Z ovocia svojich úst sa každý nasýti dobrého, a zásluha rúk človeka sa mu vráti.

¹⁵The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

¹⁵Cesta blázna je priamou v jeho očiach, ale ten, kto poslúcha radu, je múdry.

¹⁶A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

¹⁶Hnev blázna sa naskutku pozná; ale ten, kto skrýva hanbu, je chytrý.

¹⁷He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

¹⁷Ten, kto smele hovorí pravdu, vyhlasuje spravedlivosť, ale falošný svedok lesť.

¹⁸There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

¹⁸Niekto hovorí nerozvážlive, jako keby bodal mečom; ale jazyk múdrych je hotovým liekom.

¹⁹The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

²⁰Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

²⁰Lesť je v srdci tých, ktorí vymýšľajú zlé; ale tí, ktorí radia to, čo donáša pokoj, majú radosť.

²¹There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

²¹Neprihodí sa spravedlivému nijaká zlá vec; ale bezbožníci budú plní zlého.

²²Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

²²Lživé rty sú ohavnosťou Hospodinovi; ale tí, ktorí činia pravdu, sa mu ľúbia.

²³A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

²³Chytrý človek skrýva známosť, ale srdce nerozumných vyvoláva bláznovstvo.

²⁴The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

²⁴Ruka usilovných bude panovať, ale ľstivá a lenivá bude dávať plat.

²⁵Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

²⁵Starosť v srdci človeka tlačí ho dolu; ale dobré slovo ho obveselí.

²⁶The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

²⁶Spravedlivý človek upraví svojho blížneho na cestu; ale cesta bezbožníkov zavedie ich samých.

²⁷The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

²⁷Nebude piecť ľstivý človek toho, čo ulovil; ale u pilného je vzácny majetok človeka.

²⁸In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

²⁸Na stezke spravedlivosti je život, a na jej ceste, na jej chodníku niet smrti.
