¹Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

¹Upomínaj ich, aby sa podriaďovali kniežatám a vrchnostiam, aby ich poslúchali a boli hotoví ku každému dobrému skutku,

²To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

²aby sa nikomu nerúhali, aby neboli svárliví, ale prívetiví, dokazujúci celú krotkú tichosť voči všetkým ľuďom.

³For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

³Lebo veď aj my sme boli kedysi nesmyselní, neposlušní, blúdiaci, otročiaci rozličným žiadostiam a rozkošiam a žili sme v zlosti a závisti, ohyzdní, nenávidiaci jedni druhých.

⁴But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

⁴Ale keď sa zjavila dobrota a ľudomilnosť nášho Spasiteľa Boha,

⁵Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

⁵nie zo skutkov spravedlivosti, ktoré by sme asi my boli činili, ale podľa svojho milosrdenstva nás spasil kúpeľom opätného splodenia a obnovením Svätého Ducha,

⁶Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

⁶ktorého vylial na nás bohate skrze Ježiša Krista, nášho Spasiteľa,

⁷That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

⁷aby sme súc ospravedlnení jeho milosťou boli dedičmi podľa nádeje večného života.

⁸This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

⁸Verné je to slovo, a chcem, aby si o tom o všetkom pevne dotvrdzoval, aby tí, ktorí uverili Bohu, hľadeli konať dobré skutky. To je to, čo je dobré a užitočné ľuďom.

⁹But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

⁹Ale bláznivým otázkam a rodopravám, škriepkam a zvadám o ceremónie zákona vyhýbaj, lebo sú neužitočné a márne.

¹⁰A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

¹⁰Sektárskeho človeka po jednom a po druhom upravení odby

¹¹Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

¹¹vediac, že taký človek je prevrátený a hreší súc sám sebou odsúdený.

¹²When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.

¹²Keď pošlem k tebe Artemána alebo Tychika, usiluj sa prijsť za mnou do Nikopola, lebo som usúdil, že tam prezimujem.

¹³Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.

¹³Zénu, učeného v zákone, a Apolla vyprav snažne na cestu, aby im nič nechýbalo.

¹⁴And let our's also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.

¹⁴A nech sa i naši učia konať dobré skutky, kde je toho treba, aby neboli neužitoční.
