¹Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

¹Zatorej, ker opravljamo to službo, kakor smo dobili usmiljenje, ne izgubljamo srca;

²But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

²ampak odrekli smo se skrivnim delom sramu ter ne ravnamo z zvijačami, tudi ne preobračamo besede Božje, marveč se z razodevanjem resnice priporočamo vesti vseh ljudi vpričo Boga.

³But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

³Če je pa tudi zakrit evangelij naš, zakrit je tistim, ki gredo v pogubo,

⁴In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

⁴ki jim je bog tega sveta nevernim oslepil misli, da jim ne zasveti svetlost evangelija slave Kristusa, ki je podoba Božja.

⁵For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

⁵Kajti ne oznanjujemo sebe, temuč Kristusa Jezusa, da je Gospod, mi pa vaši služabniki zaradi Jezusa.

⁶For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

⁶Ker Bog, ki je rekel: „Iz teme naj zasveti luč“, on je, ki je zasvetil v srcih naših, da dodeli svetlo spoznanje slave Božje v obličju Kristusovem.

⁷But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

⁷Imamo pa ta zaklad v lončenih posodah, da bi bila preobilnost moči iz Boga in ne iz nas.

⁸We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

⁸Od vseh strani nas stiskajo, ali nismo na tesnem; v zadregah smo, ali ne obupujemo;

⁹Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

⁹preganjajo nas, ali nismo zapuščeni; pobijajo nas, ali ne ginemo;

¹⁰Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

¹⁰vsekdar nosimo umiranje Jezusovo s seboj na telesu, da bi se tudi življenje Jezusovo pokazalo na našem telesu.

¹¹For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

¹¹Kajti vedno smo mi, ki živimo, izročani na smrt zavoljo Jezusa, da bi se tudi življenje Jezusovo pokazalo na smrtnem mesu našem.

¹²So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

¹²Tako smrt deluje v nas, a življenje v vas.

¹³We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

¹³A imajoč istega duha vere po tem, kar je pisano: „Veroval sem, zato sem govoril“, tudi mi verujemo, zato tudi govorimo;

¹⁴Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

¹⁴vedoč, da kateri je obudil Gospoda Jezusa, obudi tudi nas z Jezusom in postavi pred seboj z vami vred.

¹⁵For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

¹⁵Vse je namreč za voljo vas, da bi milost, pomnožena po mnogih prejemalcih, povečala zahvalo v slavo Božjo.

¹⁶For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

¹⁶Zato ne izgubljamo srca; ali čeprav se zunanji naš človek pokončuje, pa se notranji obnavlja od dne do dne.

¹⁷For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

¹⁷Kajti sedanja kratka in lahka stiska naša nam napravlja nad vse obilno večno množino slave,ko ne gledamo na to, kar se vidi, marveč na to, kar se ne vidi; zakaj to, kar se vidi, je začasno, a kar se ne vidi, je večno.

¹⁸While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

¹⁸ko ne gledamo na to, kar se vidi, marveč na to, kar se ne vidi; zakaj to, kar se vidi, je začasno, a kar se ne vidi, je večno.
