¹Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

¹Šest dni pred Veliko nočjo pa Pride Jezus v Betanijo, kjer je bil Lazar, ki je bil umrl in ga je Jezus obudil iz mrtvih.

²There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

²In napravijo mu tu večerjo; in Marta je stregla, Lazar pa je bil eden med temi, ki so ž njim sedeli za mizo.

³Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

³Marija pa vzame libro nardovega mazila, pravega in dragocenega, in pomazili noge Jezusove in mu jih otre z lasmi svojimi; in hiša se napolni z duhom mazila.

⁴Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,

⁴Toda Juda Simonov Iškariot, eden učencev njegovih, ki ga je imel izdati, reče:

⁵Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

⁵Zakaj se ni prodalo to mazilo za tristo denarjev in dalo ubogim?

⁶This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

⁶To pa je rekel, ne ker ga je bila skrb za uboge, ampak ker je bil tat in je imel mošnjo in nosil, kar so metali vanjo.

⁷Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

⁷Jezus pa reče: Pusti jo; za dan pogreba mojega je to prihranila.

⁸For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

⁸Kajti uboge imate vsekdar pri sebi, a mene nimate vsekdar.

⁹Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

⁹Zvedelo je pa preprosto ljudstvo izmed Judov, da je tukaj, ter pridejo ne samo zaradi Jezusa, ampak da bi tudi videli Lazarja, ki ga je bil obudil iz mrtvih.

¹⁰But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

¹⁰Višji duhovniki pa se posvetujo, da bi tudi Lazarja umorili;

¹¹Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

¹¹ker so mnogi izmed Judov hodili tja zavoljo njega in so sprejemali vero v Jezusa.

¹²On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

¹²Drugi dan zasliši velika množica, ki je bila prišla na praznik, da gre Jezus v Jeruzalem.

¹³Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

¹³In vzemo palmove veje in mu pridejo naproti in vpijejo: Hosana! Blagoslovljen, ki prihaja v imenu Gospodovem, kralj Izraelov!

¹⁴And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

¹⁴In Jezus dobi osliča in sede nanj, kakor je pisano:

¹⁵Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.

¹⁵„Ne boj se, hči sionska! glej, kralj tvoj gre, sedeč na žrebetu osličjem.“

¹⁶These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

¹⁶Tega učenci njegovi izprva niso razumeli, ampak ko je bil Jezus oslavljen, tedaj so se spomnili, da je bilo to pisano za njega in da so mu to storili.

¹⁷The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

¹⁷Ljudstvo torej, ki je bilo ž njim, ko je Lazarja poklical iz groba in ga obudil iz mrtvih, je pričevalo o njem.

¹⁸For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

¹⁸Zato mu je tudi množica prišla naproti, ker so slišali, da je storil ta čudež.

¹⁹The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

¹⁹Farizeji reko tedaj med seboj: Vidite, da nič ne opravite! Glej, ves svet leti za njim.

²⁰And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

²⁰Bili so pa nekateri Grki med tistimi, ki so prihajali, da bi molili o prazniku.

²¹The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

²¹Ti torej pristopijo k Filipu, ki je bil iz Betsaide Galilejske, in ga zaprosijo, rekoč: Gospod, Jezusa bi radi videli.

²²Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

²³And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

²³Jezus pa jima odgovori, rekoč: Prišla je ura, da bi bil oslavljen Sin človekov.

²⁴Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

²⁴Resnično, resnično vam pravim: Pšenično zrno, če pade v zemljo in ne umre, ostane samo; če pa umre, obrodi veliko sadu.

²⁵He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

²⁵Kdor ljubi dušo svojo, jo izgubi; a kdor sovraži dušo svojo na tem svetu, jo ohrani za večno življenje.

²⁶If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

²⁶Ako mi hoče kdo služiti, naj gre za menoj; in kjer sem jaz, tam bo tudi služabnik moj; in če kdo meni služi, njega počasti Oče.

²⁷Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

²⁷Sedaj je duša moja žalostna, in kaj hočem reči? Oče, reši me iz te ure! Toda prav zato sem prišel v to uro.

²⁸Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

²⁸Oče, oslavi ime svoje! Tedaj se oglasi glas z neba: Oslavil sem ga, in zopet ga oslavim.

²⁹The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

²⁹Ljudstvo torej, ki je zraven stalo in je to slišalo, pravi, da je zagrmelo. Drugi pravijo: Angel mu je govoril.

³⁰Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

³⁰Jezus odgovori in reče: Ne zaradi mene je prišel ta glas, ampak zavoljo vas.

³¹Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

³¹Zdaj je sodba tega sveta; zdaj bo vojvoda tega sveta vržen ven.

³²And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

³²In jaz, kadar bom povišan od zemlje, vse potegnem k sebi.

³³This he said, signifying what death he should die.

³³To je pa pravil, da naznači, s kakšno smrtjo mu je umreti.

³⁴The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

³⁴Ljudstvo mu torej odgovori: Mi smo slišali iz zakona, da Kristus ostane vekomaj, in kako praviš ti, da mora biti povišan Sin človekov? Kdo je ta Sin človekov?

³⁵Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

³⁵Jezus jim torej reče: Še malo časa je luč med vami. Hodite, dokler imate luč, da vas ne objame tema; in kdor po temi hodi, ne ve, kam gre.

³⁶While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

³⁶Dokler imate luč, verujte v luč, da postanete sinovi luči. To je Jezus povedal, in je odšel in se skril pred njimi.

³⁷But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

³⁷In dasi je toliko čudežev storil vpričo njih, niso verovali vanj,

³⁸That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

³⁸da se izpolni beseda Izaija proroka, ki jo je rekel: „Gospod, kdo je veroval našemu poročilu? in rama Gospodova komu se je razodela?“

³⁹Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

³⁹Verovati pa zato niso mogli, ker je zopet rekel Izaija:

⁴⁰He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

⁴⁰„Oslepil jim je oči in zakrknil jim je srce, da ne bi z očmi videli in s srcem umeli in se izpreobrnili, in jaz bi jih ozdravil.“

⁴¹These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

⁴¹To je rekel Izaija, ko je videl slavo njegovo in je govoril o njem.

⁴²Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

⁴²Vendar so pa tudi mnogi izmed prvakov verovali vanj, toda zaradi farizejev niso priznavali, da ne bi bili izobčeni iz shodnice.

⁴³For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

⁴³Kajti ljubili so slavo pri ljudeh bolj nego slavo pri Bogu.

⁴⁴Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

⁴⁴Jezus pa zakliče in reče: Kdor veruje v mene, veruje ne v mene, marveč v tega, ki me je poslal.

⁴⁵And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

⁴⁵In kdor vidi mene, vidi tega, ki me je poslal.

⁴⁶I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

⁴⁶Jaz Luč sem prišel na svet, da ne ostane v temi nihče, kdor veruje v mene.

⁴⁷And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

⁴⁷In če kdo sliši moje besede in jih ne hrani, jaz ga ne sodim; zakaj nisem prišel, da bi svet sodil, ampak da zveličam svet.

⁴⁸He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

⁴⁸Kdor zaničuje mene in ne sprejema besed mojih, ima svojega sodnika: beseda, ki sem jo govoril, ona ga bo sodila v poslednji dan.

⁴⁹For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

⁴⁹Kajti jaz nisem sam od sebe govoril, temuč Oče, ki me je poslal, on mi je dal zapoved, kaj naj povem in kaj naj govorim.In vem, da je njegova zapoved večno življenje. Kar torej jaz govorim, govorim tako, kakor mi je Oče rekel.

⁵⁰And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
