¹These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

¹To sem vam povedal, da se ne pohujšate.

²They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

²Izobčijo vas iz shodnic; pride celo ura, da bo vsak, kdor vas bo moril, menil, da s tem opravlja službo Bogu.

³And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

³In to vam bodo delali, ker niso spoznali Očeta, ne mene.

⁴But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.

⁴Ali to sem vam povedal, da bi se, kadar ta ura pride, spomnili tega, da sem vam jaz to rekel. Tega pa vam od začetka nisem povedal, ker sem še bil z vami.

⁵But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?

⁵A sedaj grem k temu, ki me je poslal, in nobeden izmed vas me ne vpraša: Kam greš?

⁶But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

⁶Temuč ker sem vam to povedal, je vam žalost napolnila srce.

⁷Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

⁷Ali jaz vam pravim resnico: Bolje vam je, da jaz odidem. Zakaj, če ne odidem, ne pride Tolažnik k vam; če pa odidem, ga pošljem k vam.

⁸And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

⁸In ko on pride, bo prepričeval svet o grehu in pravičnosti in sodbi;

⁹Of sin, because they believe not on me;

⁹o grehu namreč, ker ne verujejo v mene;

¹⁰Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

¹⁰o pravičnosti pa, ker grem k Očetu, in me ne boste več videli;

¹¹Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

¹¹o sodbi pa, ker je vojvoda tega sveta obsojen.

¹²I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

¹²Še veliko vam imam povedati, sedaj pa ne morete tega nositi.

¹³Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

¹³Kadar pa on pride, Duh resnice, vas bo vodil v vso resnico; ne bo namreč govoril sam od sebe, temuč kar bo slišal, bo govoril, in oznanjeval vam bo prihodnje reči.

¹⁴He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

¹⁴On bo mene oslavil, ker od mojega vzame in vam oznani.

¹⁵All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

¹⁵Vse, karkoli ima Oče, je moje; zato sem rekel, da vzame od mojega in vam oznani.

¹⁶A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

¹⁶Malo, in ne boste me več videli, in zopet malo, in boste me videli.

¹⁷Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?

¹⁷Tedaj reko nekateri učencev njegovih med seboj: Kaj je to, kar nam pravi: Malo, in ne boste me videli, in zopet malo, in boste me videli, in: Grem k Očetu.

¹⁸They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.

¹⁸Govore torej: Kaj je to, kar pravi: malo? Ne vemo, kaj pravi.

¹⁹Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?

¹⁹Jezus pa spozna, da ga hočejo vprašati, in jim reče: Ali se zato poprašujete med seboj, da sem rekel: Malo, in ne boste me videli, in zopet malo, in boste me videli?

²⁰Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

²⁰Resnično, resnično vam pravim, da boste jokali vi in plakali, a svet se bo radoval; vi pa bodete žalostni, ali žalost vaša se premeni v radost.

²¹A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

²¹Žena, kadar rodi, ima žalost, ker je prišla njena ura; toda ko porodi dete, se ne spominja več bridkosti od veselja, da se je rodil človek na svet.

²²And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

²²Tako tudi vas sedaj objemlje žalost; pa zopet vas bom videl, in srce vaše se bo radovalo, in radosti vaše vam ne odvzame nihče.

²³And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

²³In tisti dan me ne boste ničesar vpraševali. Resnično, resnično vam pravim: Karkoli boste Očeta prosili, dá vam v imenu mojem.

²⁴Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

²⁴Doslej niste ničesar prosili v imenu mojem. Prosíte in prejmete, da bo radost vaša dopolnjena.

²⁵These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

²⁵To sem vam povedal v prilikah; ali pride ura, ko vam ne bom več govoril v prilikah, temuč vam bom odkrito oznanjeval o Očetu.

²⁶At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

²⁶Tisti dan boste v imenu mojem prosili; in ne pravim vam, da bom jaz prosil Očeta za vas.

²⁷For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

²⁷Zakaj Oče sam vas ljubi, ker ste vi mene ljubili in ste verovali, da sem jaz izšel od Boga.

²⁸I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

²⁸Izšel sem od Očeta in prišel sem na svet; zopet zapuščam svet in grem k Očetu.

²⁹His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.

²⁹Reko mu učenci njegovi: Glej, sedaj odkrito govoriš in ne praviš nobene prilike.

³⁰Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

³⁰Sedaj vemo, da veš vse in ti ni treba, da bi te kdo vpraševal. Po tem verujemo, da si od Boga izšel.

³¹Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

³¹Odgovori jim Jezus: Ali sedaj verujete?

³²Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

³²Glej, pride ura, in že je prišla, da se razkropite vsak na svojo stran in mene pustite samega; a nisem sam, ker je Oče z menoj.To sem vam povedal, da imate mir v meni. Na svetu imate bridkost; ali srčni bodite, jaz sem svet premagal.

³³These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
