¹The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

²He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

²On pa odgovori in jim reče: Ko se zvečeri, pravite: Vedro bo, kajti žari se nebo;

³And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

³in zjutraj pravite: Danes bo nevihta, kajti nebo se žari in oblači. Nebeško lice znate razločevati, znamenj časov pa ne morete.

⁴A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

⁴Hudobni in prešeštni rod išče znamenja; a ne bo mu dano znamenje razen znamenja proroka Jona. In jih pusti in odide.

⁵And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

⁵In ko se prepeljejo učenci njegovi na drugo stran, so pozabili vzeti kruha.

⁶Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

⁶Jezus jim pa reče: Pazite in varujte se kvasu farizejev in saducejev!

⁷And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

⁷Oni so pa sami pri sebi mislili in govorili: To pravi, ker nismo vzeli kruha.

⁸Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

⁸Ko pa Jezus to opazi, jim reče: Kaj premišljujete v sebi, maloverneži, da nimate kruha?

⁹Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

⁹Ali še ne umete, tudi se ne spominjate petih hlebov petim tisočim in koliko košev ste nabrali?

¹⁰Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

¹⁰tudi ne sedmih hlebov štirim tisočim in koliko košev ste nabrali?

¹¹How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

¹¹Kako ne umete, da vam nisem rekel za kruh? Ali varujte se kvasu farizejev in saducejev!

¹²Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

¹²Tedaj so razumeli, da ni rekel, naj se varujejo kruhovega kvasu, ampak nauka farizejev in saducejev.

¹³When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

¹³Ko pa pride Jezus v kraje Cesareje Filipove, vpraša učence svoje, rekoč: Kdo pravijo ljudje, da sem jaz, Sin človekov?

¹⁴And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

¹⁴Oni pa reko: Nekateri, da si Janez Krstnik, drugi pa, da si Elija, a drugi, da si Jeremija ali eden prorokov.

¹⁵He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

¹⁵Reče jim: Kdo pa pravite vi, da sem jaz?

¹⁶And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

¹⁶Simon Peter pa odgovori in reče: Ti si Kristus, Sin živega Boga.

¹⁷And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

¹⁷In Jezus odgovori in mu reče: Blagor ti, Simon, Jonov sin, zakaj meso in kri ti nista tega razodela, ampak Oče moj, ki je v nebesih.

¹⁸And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

¹⁸Pravim pa tudi jaz tebi: Ti si Peter [T. j. Skalnik.], in na tej skali sezidam cerkev svojo in vrata peklenska [Grški: hadesa.] je ne bodo premagala.

¹⁹And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

¹⁹In dam ti ključe nebeškega kraljestva: in karkoli zvežeš na zemlji, bo zvezano v nebesih, in karkoli razvežeš na zemlji, bo razvezano v nebesih.

²⁰Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

²⁰Tedaj zapove učencem svojim, naj nikomur ne pravijo, da je on Kristus.

²¹From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

²¹Odslej je jel Jezus kazati učencem svojim, da mora iti v Jeruzalem in mnogo trpeti od starejšin in višjih duhovnikov in pismarjev in umorjen biti in tretji dan od smrti vstati.

²²Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

²²In Peter ga potegne na stran in ga začne odvračati, rekoč: Bog te obvaruj, Gospod! To se ti ne sme zgoditi!

²³But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

²³On pa se obrne in reče Petru: Poberi se od mene, satan! Za pohujšanje si mi, ker ne umeš, kar je Božjega, nego kar je človeško.

²⁴Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

²⁴Nato reče Jezus učencem svojim: Če kdo hoče za menoj iti, naj zataji samega sebe in vzame križ svoj nase in gre za menoj.

²⁵For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

²⁵Kajti kdor hoče ohraniti življenje svoje, ga izgubi, kdor pa izgubi življenje svoje zaradi mene, ga najde.

²⁶For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

²⁶Kaj namreč pomore človeku, če ves svet pridobi, svoji duši pa škoduje? Ali kaj bo dal človek v zameno za dušo svojo?

²⁷For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

²⁷Kajti Sin človekov ima priti v slavi Očeta svojega z angeli svojimi, in tedaj povrne vsakemu po delu njegovem.Resnično vam pravim: Nekateri so med temi, ki stoje tu, ki ne bodo okusili smrti, dokler ne vidijo Sina človekovega, da prihaja v kraljestvu svojem.

²⁸Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

²⁸Resnično vam pravim: Nekateri so med temi, ki stoje tu, ki ne bodo okusili smrti, dokler ne vidijo Sina človekovega, da prihaja v kraljestvu svojem.
