¹I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

¹{Načelniku godbe. Psalm Davida, hlapca GOSPODOVEGA, ki je govoril GOSPODU te pesmi besede v dan, ko ga je bil rešil GOSPOD iz pesti vseh sovražnikov njegovih in iz roke Savlove; in rekel je:} Srčno te ljubim, o GOSPOD, moja moč.

²The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

²GOSPOD je skala moja in visoki grad moj in rešitelj moj, Bog mogočni moj, zavetje moje, kamor pribegam, ščit moj in rešenja mojega rog, visoka trdnjava moja.

³I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

³GOSPODA kličem, ki je hvale vreden, in tako se rešujem sovražnikov svojih.

⁴The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

⁴Objele so me smrti vezi in hudourniki pogube so me prestrašili;

⁵The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

⁵pekla [Hebr. šeol.] vezi so me obdale, smrtne zanke so me zajele.

⁶In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

⁶V stiski svoji sem klical GOSPODA in k Bogu svojemu sem vpil; iz svetišča svojega je začul moj glas in vpitje moje pred njim je prišlo do ušes njegovih.

⁷Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

⁷Tu se je zgenila in stresla zemlja, tudi podstave gorá so se zmajale, gibale so se, ker se je srdil.

⁸There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

⁸Dim se je valil iz nosnic njegovih in ogenj požrešen iz ust njegovih, žerjavica goreča je prhala od njega.

⁹He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

⁹Nagnil je nebo ter stopil doli, in oblačna temota mu je bila pod nogami.

¹⁰And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

¹⁰In sedeč na kerubu, je letel in plaval na vetra perutih.

¹¹He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

¹¹Temo si je napravil za ogrinjalo, za šator svoj okoli sebe, mrak vodá in roje oblakov.

¹²At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

¹²Iz svita pred njim je švigala skozi oblake njegove toča in žerjavica ognjena.

¹³The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

¹³Na nebesih je grmel GOSPOD in Najvišji je dal slišati svoj glas – toča in žerjavica ognjena.

¹⁴Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

¹⁴In izstrelil je pšice svoje in sovražnike razkropil, metal je strelo za strelo, in jih je izbegal.

¹⁵Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

¹⁵In prikazale so se struge vodá, in odgrnile so se podstave vesoljne zemlje od svarjenja tvojega, GOSPOD, od sape jeze tvoje.

¹⁶He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

¹⁶Iz višine je posegel in me prijel, potegnil me je iz mnogih vodá.

¹⁷He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

¹⁷Rešil me je neprijatelja mojega močnega in sovražilcev mojih, krepkejših od mene.

¹⁸They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

¹⁸Naskočili so me v dan nesreče moje, a GOSPOD mi je bil podpora,

¹⁹He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

¹⁹in me je izpeljal na plano, rešil me je, ker me je ljubil.

²⁰The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

²⁰Podelil mi je GOSPOD po pravičnosti moji, po čistosti mojih rok mi je povrnil;

²¹For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

²¹kajti držal sem se potov GOSPODOVIH ter se nisem zlobno odvrnil od Boga svojega.

²²For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.

²²Zakaj vse sodbe njegove so pred mojimi očmi, in postav njegovih ne zavračam od sebe.

²³I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

²³In bil sem mu popolnoma vdan ter sem se pazil, da ne ravnam krivično.

²⁴Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

²⁴Zato mi je povrnil GOSPOD po pravičnosti moji, po čistosti mojih rok pred njegovimi očmi.

²⁵With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

²⁵Dobrotljivemu se izkazuješ dobrotljivega, popolnoma vdanemu se izkazuješ popolnega;

²⁶With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

²⁶čistemu se kažeš čistega, ali popačenemu nasprotuješ.

²⁷For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

²⁷Zakaj ti otimlješ ljudstvo ubogo, prevzetne oči pa ponižuješ.

²⁸For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

²⁸Da, svetilo moje razsvetljuješ; GOSPOD, moj Bog, razjasnjuje moje tmine.

²⁹For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

²⁹S teboj namreč prodiram skozi krdelo in z Bogom svojim preskakujem zid.

³⁰As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

³⁰Tega Boga mogočnega pot je brezmadežna, govor GOSPODOV ves čist; ščit je vsem, ki pribegajo k njemu.

³¹For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

³¹Ker kdo je Bog razen GOSPODA? in kdo skala razen našega Boga?

³²It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

³²Ta Bog mogočni, ki me opasuje z močjo in brezmadežno dela mojo pot.

³³He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

³³Dela, da so moje noge kakor jelenje, in me stavi na višino mojo.

³⁴He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

³⁴Vadi za boj roke moje, da napnem z ramo svojo lok bronasti.

³⁵Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

³⁵Dal si mi tudi zveličanja svojega ščit, in desnica tvoja me je podpirala in ljubeznivost tvoja me je poveličala.

³⁶Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

³⁶Razširil si prostor korakom mojim pod mano, in členki mojih nog niso omahovali.

³⁷I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

³⁷Zasledoval sem sovražnike svoje in jih dohitel, in nisem se vrnil, dokler jih nisem izničil.

³⁸I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.

³⁸Zdrobil sem jih tako, da ne morejo več vstati, padli so mi pod noge.

³⁹For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

³⁹Ker ti si me opasal z močjo za vojsko, upognil si podme nje, ki so se vzpenjali zoper mene.

⁴⁰Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.

⁴⁰In zapodil si v beg nasprotnike moje, sovražilce moje, da jih ugonobim.

⁴¹They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

⁴¹Vpili so, a ni ga bilo, ki bi jih rešil, h GOSPODU so vpili, a ni jim odgovoril.

⁴²Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.

⁴²Tu sem jih strl, da so kakor prah pred vetrom, kakor blato na ulicah sem jih poteptal.

⁴³Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

⁴³Otel si me iz prepirov ljudstva in postavil narodom za glavo; ljudstvo, ki ga nisem poznal, mi je služilo.

⁴⁴As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

⁴⁴Le slišali so o meni, in so se mi pokorili, tujci so se mi vdajali z laskanjem.

⁴⁵The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

⁴⁵Tujci so v strahu koprneli in pritrepetavali iz gradov svojih.

⁴⁶The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

⁴⁶Živ je GOSPOD; in slavljena bodi skala moja in naj se povišuje Bog rešenja mojega;

⁴⁷It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

⁴⁷Bog ta mogočni, ki mi daje maščevanje in spravlja ljudstva podme;

⁴⁸He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

⁴⁸ki me rešuje sovražnikov mojih; da, ti si me povzdignil nadnje, ki vstajajo zoper mene, možu silovitemu si me iztrgal.

⁴⁹Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.

⁴⁹Zatorej te bom hvalil med narodi, GOSPOD, in psalme prepeval tvojemu imenu.On daje rešenje, veliko in obilo, kralju svojemu in izkazuje milost maziljencu svojemu, Davidu in semenu njegovemu na veke.

⁵⁰Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
