¹Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.

²Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

²Ko niso bile še rojene gore in nisi bil naredil zemlje in vesoljnega sveta, da, od vekomaj do vekomaj si ti Bog mogočni.

³Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.

³Pripraviš človeka, da razpade v prah, in veliš: Povrnite se, otroci človeški!

⁴For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

⁴Zakaj tisoč let je v tvojih očeh kakor včerajšnji dan, ko je minil, in kakor čas ponočne straže.

⁵Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

⁵Kakor s povodnijo jih pokončavaš, kot spanje so; zjutraj so kakor trava, ki vnovič poganja.

⁶In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

⁶Zjutraj cvete in poganja, zvečer jo pokose in usahne.

⁷For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.

⁷Kajti ginemo od jeze tvoje in vsled srda tvojega smo preplašeni.

⁸Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

⁸Pred oči svoje si postavil krivice naše, skrivnosti naše v luč obličja svojega.

⁹For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.

⁹Kajti vsi dnevi naši minevajo v srdu tvojem, leta nam prelete kot misel.

¹⁰The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

¹⁰Dnevi naših let – vseh jih je sedemdeset let ali, ako smo prav krepki, osemdeset let; in kar je naš ponos v njih, je le trud in težava; zakaj hitro vse poteče in mi odletimo.

¹¹Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

¹¹A kdo spoznava jeze tvoje moč in tvoj srd, boječ se te, kakor se spodobi?

¹²So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

¹²Uči nas torej prav šteti naše dni, da si pridobimo srce modro.

¹³Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

¹³Vrni se, GOSPOD! doklej –? in žal ti bodi za hlapce svoje!

¹⁴O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

¹⁴Nasiti nas že ob jutranjem svitu z milostjo svojo, da veselo pojemo in se radujemo vse svoje dni.

¹⁵Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.

¹⁵Razveseli nas po številu dni, v katerih si nas ponižaval, in let, v katerih smo izkušali hudo.

¹⁶Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.

¹⁶Očitno bodi hlapcem tvojim delo tvoje in veličastvo tvoje nad njih otroki!Nad nami pa bodi ljubeznivost Gospoda, Boga našega, in delo naših rok podpiraj pri nas, delo, pravim, naših rok podpiraj!

¹⁷And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

¹⁷Nad nami pa bodi ljubeznivost Gospoda, Boga našega, in delo naših rok podpiraj pri nas, delo, pravim, naših rok podpiraj!
