1For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
1เพราะเมลคีเซเดคผู้นี้คือกษัตริย์เมืองซาเลม เป็นปุโรหิตของพระเจ้าผู้สูงสุด ผู้ได้พบอับราฮัมขณะที่กำลังกลับมาจากการฆ่าฟันกษัตริย์ทั้งหลายนั้น และได้อวยพรแก่อับราฮัม
2To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
2อับราฮัมก็ได้ถวายของหนึ่งในสิบแห่งของทั้งปวงแก่เมลคีเซเดค ตอนแรกเมลคีเซเดคนั้นแปลว่ากษัตริย์แห่งความชอบธรรม แล้วภายหลังก็เป็นกษัตริย์เมืองซาเลมด้วย ซึ่งคือกษัตริย์แห่งสันติสุข
3Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
3บิดามารดาและตระกูลของท่านก็ไม่มี วันเกิดวันตายก็เช่นกัน แต่เป็นเหมือนพระบุตรของพระเจ้า เมลคีเซเดคนั้นแหละดำรงอยู่เป็นปุโรหิตชั่วกัปป์ชั่วกัลป์
4Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
4แล้วจงคิดดูเถิด ท่านผู้นี้ยิ่งใหญ่เพียงไร ที่อับราฮัมผู้เป็นต้นตระกูลของเรานั้น ยังได้ชักหนึ่งในสิบแห่งของริบนั้นมาถวายแก่ท่าน
5And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
5และแท้จริงบรรดาเชื้อสายของเลวี ซึ่งได้รับตำแหน่งปุโรหิตนั้น ถึงแม้ว่าท่านเหล่านั้นได้บังเกิดจากเอวของอับราฮัม ก็ยังมีพระบัญชาสั่งให้รับสิบชักหนึ่งจากบรรดาประชาชนตามพระราชบัญญัติ คือจากพวกพี่น้องของตน
6But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
6แต่เมลคีเซเดคผู้นี้ไม่ใช่เชื้อสายพวกเขา แต่ก็ยังได้รับสิบชักหนึ่งจากอับราฮัม และได้อวยพรให้อับราฮัมผู้ที่ได้รับพระสัญญาทั้งหลาย
7And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
7สิ่งที่ค้านไม่ได้ คือผู้น้อยต้องรับพรจากผู้ใหญ่
8And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
8ฝ่ายข้างนี้มนุษย์ที่ต้องตายยังได้รับสิบชักหนึ่ง แต่ฝ่ายข้างโน้นท่านผู้เดียวได้รับ และมีพยานกล่าวถึงท่านว่าท่านยังมีชีวิตอยู่
9And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.
9ถ้าจะพูดไปอีกอย่างหนึ่งก็ว่า เลวีนั้นที่รับสิบชักหนึ่งก็ยังได้ถวายสิบชักหนึ่งทางอับราฮัม
10For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
10เพราะว่าขณะนั้นเขายังอยู่ในเอวของบรรพบุรุษ ขณะที่เมลคีเซเดคได้พบกับอับราฮัม
11If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
11เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าเมื่อจะถึงความสำเร็จได้ในทางตำแหน่งปุโรหิตที่สืบมาจากตระกูลเลวี (ด้วยว่าประชาชนได้รับพระราชบัญญัติโดยทางตำแหน่งนี้) ที่ไหนจะต้องการให้มีปุโรหิตอีกตามอย่างเมลคีเซเดคเล่า ซึ่งมิได้เรียกตามอย่างอาโรน
12For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
12เพราะเมื่อตำแหน่งปุโรหิตเปลี่ยนแปลงไปแล้ว พระราชบัญญัติก็จำเป็นจะต้องเปลี่ยนแปลงไปด้วย
13For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
13เพราะว่าท่านที่เรากล่าวถึงนั้นมาจากตระกูลอื่น ซึ่งเป็นตระกูลที่ยังไม่มีผู้ใดเคยทำหน้าที่ปรนนิบัติที่แท่นบูชาเลย
14For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
14เพราะเป็นที่ประจักษ์ชัดแล้วว่า องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรานั้นได้ทรงสืบเชื้อสายมาจากตระกูลยูดาห์ โมเสสไม่ได้ว่าจะมีปุโรหิตมาจากตระกูลนั้นเลย
15And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
15และข้อนี้ประจักษ์ชัดยิ่งขึ้นอีก เมื่อปรากฏว่ามีปุโรหิตอีกผู้หนึ่งเกิดขึ้นตามอย่างของเมลคีเซเดค
16Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
16ซึ่งไม่ได้ทรงตั้งขึ้นตามพระราชบัญญัติซึ่งเป็นบทบัญญัติสำหรับเนื้อหนัง แต่ตามฤทธิ์เดชแห่งชีวิตอันไม่รู้สิ้นสุดเลย
17For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
17เพราะมีพยานกล่าวถึงท่านว่า `ท่านเป็นปุโรหิตเป็นนิตย์ตามอย่างของเมลคีเซเดค'
18For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
18ด้วยว่าจริงๆแล้วพระบัญญัติที่มีอยู่เดิมนั้น ก็ได้ยกเลิกไป เพราะขาดฤทธิ์และไร้ประโยชน์
19For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
19เพราะว่าพระราชบัญญัตินั้นไม่ได้ทำอะไรให้ถึงความสำเร็จ แต่ได้นำความหวังอันดีกว่าเข้ามา และโดยความหวังนั้นเราทั้งหลายจึงเข้ามาใกล้พระเจ้า
20And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
20ที่ว่าดีกว่านั้นก็เพราะว่า ปุโรหิตคนนั้นได้ทรงตั้งขึ้นโดยทรงปฏิญาณไว้
21(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
21(บรรดาปุโรหิตเหล่านั้นไม่มีการกล่าวปฏิญาณเมื่อเขาเข้ารับตำแหน่ง แต่ส่วนปุโรหิตนี้มีคำกล่าวปฏิญาณจากพระองค์ว่า `องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงปฏิญาณแล้ว และจะไม่เปลี่ยนพระทัยของพระองค์ว่า "ท่านเป็นปุโรหิตเป็นนิตย์ตามอย่างของเมลคีเซเดค"')
22By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
22พระเยซูก็ได้ทรงเป็นผู้รับประกันแห่งพันธสัญญาอันดีกว่าสักเพียงใด
23And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
23แท้จริงส่วนปุโรหิตเหล่านั้นก็ได้ทรงตั้งขึ้นไว้หลายคน เพราะว่าความตายได้ขัดขวางไม่ให้ดำรงอยู่ในตำแหน่งเรื่อยไป
24But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
24แต่ฝ่ายพระองค์นี้ โดยเหตุที่พระองค์ดำรงอยู่เป็นนิตย์ ตำแหน่งปุโรหิตของพระองค์จึงไม่แปรปรวน
25Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
25ด้วยเหตุนี้ พระองค์จึงทรงสามารถเป็นนิตย์ที่จะช่วยคนทั้งปวงที่ได้เข้ามาถึงพระเจ้าโดยทางพระองค์นั้นให้ได้รับความรอด เพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่เป็นนิตย์เพื่อเสนอความให้คนเหล่านั้น
26For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
26มหาปุโรหิตเช่นนี้แหละที่เหมาะสำหรับเรา คือเป็นผู้บริสุทธิ์ ปราศจากอุบาย ไร้มลทิน แยกจากคนบาปทั้งปวง ประทับอยู่สูงกว่าฟ้าสวรรค์
27Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
27พระองค์ไม่ต้องทรงนำเครื่องบูชามาทุกวันๆดังเช่นมหาปุโรหิตอื่นๆ ผู้ซึ่งถวายสำหรับความผิดของตัวเองก่อน แล้วจึงถวายสำหรับความผิดของประชาชน ส่วนพระองค์ได้ทรงถวายเครื่องบูชาเพียงครั้งเดียว คือเมื่อพระองค์ได้ทรงถวายพระองค์เอง
28For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
28ด้วยว่าพระราชบัญญัตินั้นได้แต่งตั้งมนุษย์ที่อ่อนกำลังขึ้นเป็นมหาปุโรหิต แต่คำทรงปฏิญาณนั้นซึ่งมาภายหลังพระราชบัญญัติ ได้ทรงแต่งตั้งพระบุตรขึ้น ผู้ถึงความสำเร็จเป็นนิตย์
