1Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
1Остерегайтесь подавати милостиню вашу перед людьми, щоб вони вас бачили; а то не мати мете ніякої нагороди від Отця вашого, що на небі.
2Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
2Тим, коли подаєш милостиню, то не труби в трубу перед собою, як роблять лицеміри по школах та по улицях, щоб здобути слави в людей. Істино глаголю вам: Мають вони нагороду собі.
3But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
3Ти ж, як подаєш милостиню, то нехай ліва рука твоя не знає, що робить права:
4That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
4щоб твоя милостиня була потайна; а Отець твій, що бачить потайне, віддасть тобі прилюдно.
5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
5І коли молиш ся, не будь таким, як лицеміри; бо вони люблять молитись, стоячи в школах та по росхідних улицях, щоб їх бачили люде. Істино глаголю вам: Мають вони нагороду собі.
6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
6Ти ж, коли молиш ся, увійди в хатину твою та, зачинивши двері, помолись Отцю твоєму потай; а Отець твій, що бачить потайне, віддасть тобі прилюдно.
7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
7Як же молитесь, то не говоріть багато, як погане: бо вони думають, що за довгі молитви будуть вислухані.
8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
8Не приподоблюйте ся ж до них; бо Отець ваш знає, чого вам треба, перш нїж просите в Него.
9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
9Тим же то молїть ся ось як: Отче наш, що на небі! Нехай святить ся імя твоє.
10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
10Нехай прийде царство твоє. Нехай буде воля твоя, як на небі, так і на землі.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
11Хлїб наш щоденний дай нам сьогоднї.
12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
12І прости нам довги наші, як і ми прощаємо довжникам нашим.
13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
13І не введи нас у спокусу, а ізбави нас од лукавого. Бо твоє єсть царство й сила, й слава по віки. Амінь.
14For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
14Бо коли прощати мете людям провини їх, то й Отець ваш небесний прощати ме Вам.
15But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
15Як же не прощати мете людям провин їх, то й Отець ваш небесний не прощати буде провин ваших.
16Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
16Коли ж постите, нехай не буде в вас, як у лицемірів, сумного виду: зміняють бо лиця свої, щоб здаватись людям постниками. Істинно глаголю вам: Що мають вони нагороду собі.
17But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
17Ти ж, коли постиш, намасти голову твою, і вмий лице твоє;
18That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
18щоб не здавав ся людям постником, а Отцеві твоєму, що потай; а Отець твій, що бачить потайне, віддасть тобі прилюдно.
19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
19Не збирайте собі скарбів на землї, де міль і ржа їсть, і де злодії підкопують ся і крадуть.
20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
20Збирайте ж собі скарби на небі, де нї міль, нї ржа не їсть, і де злодії не підкопують ся й не крадуть.
21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
21Бо де скарб ваш, там буде й серце ваше.
22The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
22Сьвітло тїлу око; тим, коли око в тебе ясне, то й все тїло твоє буде сьвітле.
23But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
23Коли ж у тебе око лихе, то й все тіло твоє буде темне. Тим, коли сьвітло, що в тобі, буде темрява, то яка велика се темрява!
24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
24Нїхто не може служити двом панам, бо, або одного ненавидіти ме, а другого любити ме; або до одного прихилить ся, а другим гордувати ме. Не можете Богу служити й мамонї.
25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
25Тим глаголю вам: Не журіть ся життєм вашим, що вам їсти або пити; анї тїлом вашим, чим зодягти ся. Чи душа ж не більше їжі, а тїло одежі?
26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
26Спогляньте на птаство небесне, що не сїють і не жнуть, анї збирають у клуню; от же Отець важ небесний годує їх. А ви хиба не луччі від них ?,
27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
27Хто з вас, журячись, може прибавити собі зросту хоч на один локіть ?
28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
28І одежею чого вам журитись? Придивіть ся до польових лилїй як вони ростуть; не працюють, нї прядуть;
29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
29глаголю ж вам: Що й Соломон у всїй славі своїй не одягавсь тав як одна з них.
30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
30Коли ж Бог так з'одягав польове зіллє, що сьогоднї воно є, а завтра вкинуть його в піч, то чи не більше ж з'одягати ме вас, маловірні?
31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
31Тим же то не журіть ся, кажучи: Що їсти мем? або: Що пити мем? або: Чим зодягнемось?
32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
32Про все таке побивають ся погане; бо Отець ваш небесний знає, що вам усього того треба.
33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
33А шукайте перш царства Божого та правди Його; се ж усе додасть ся вам.
34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
34Оце ж не журіть ся про завтра; бо завтра журити меть ся само про своє. Доволї в кожного дня лиха свого.
