¹Pursue the love, and seek earnestly the spiritual things, and rather that ye may prophecy,

¹ Dilynwch gariad yn daer, a rhowch eich bryd ar y doniau ysbrydol, yn enwedig dawn proffwydo.

²for he who is speaking in an [unknown] tongue — to men he doth not speak, but to God, for no one doth hearken, and in spirit he doth speak secrets;

² Oherwydd y mae'r sawl sydd yn llefaru � thafodau yn llefaru, nid wrth bobl, ond wrth Dduw. Nid oes unrhyw un yn ei ddeall; llefaru pethau dirgel y mae, yn yr Ysbryd.

³and he who is prophesying to men doth speak edification, and exhortation, and comfort;

³ Ond y mae'r sawl sy'n proffwydo yn llefaru wrth bobl bethau sy'n eu hadeiladu a'u calonogi a'u cysuro.

⁴he who is speaking in an [unknown] tongue, himself doth edify, and he who is prophesying, an assembly doth edify;

⁴ Y mae'r sawl sy'n llefaru � thafodau yn ei adeiladu ei hun, ond y mae'r sawl sy'n proffwydo yn adeiladu'r eglwys.

⁵and I wish you all to speak with tongues, and more that ye may prophecy, for greater is he who is prophesying than he who is speaking with tongues, except one may interpret, that the assembly may receive edification.

⁵ Mi hoffwn ichwi i gyd lefaru � thafodau, ond yn fwy byth ichwi broffwydo. Y mae'r sawl sy'n proffwydo yn well na'r sawl sy'n llefaru � thafodau, os na all ddehongli'r hyn y mae'n ei ddweud, er mwyn i'r eglwys gael adeiladaeth.

⁶And now, brethren, if I may come unto you speaking tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either in revelation, or in knowledge, or in prophesying, or in teaching?

⁶ Yn awr, gyfeillion, os dof atoch gan lefaru � thafodau, pa les a wnaf i chwi, os na ddywedaf rywbeth wrthych sy'n ddatguddiad, neu'n wybodaeth, neu'n broffwydoliaeth, neu'n hyfforddiant?

⁷yet the things without life giving sound — whether pipe or harp — if a difference in the sounds they may not give, how shall be known that which is piped or that which is harped?

⁷ Ystyriwch offerynnau difywyd sy'n cynhyrchu su373?n, fel ffliwt neu delyn; os na seiniant eu nodau eglur eu hunain, sut y mae gwybod beth sy'n cael ei ganu arnynt?

⁸for if also an uncertain sound a trumpet may give, who shall prepare himself for battle?

⁸ Ac os yw'r utgorn yn rhoi nodyn aneglur, pwy sy'n mynd i'w arfogi ei hun i frwydr?

⁹so also ye, if through the tongue, speech easily understood ye may not give — how shall that which is spoken be known? for ye shall be speaking to air.

⁹ Felly chwithau: wrth lefaru � thafodau, os na thraethwch air y gellir ei ddeall, pa fodd y gall neb wybod beth a ddywedir? Malu awyr y byddwch.

¹⁰There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is unmeaning,

¹⁰ Mor niferus yw'r mathau o ieithoedd sydd yn y byd! Ac nid oes unman heb iaith.

¹¹if, then, I do not know the power of the voice, I shall be to him who is speaking a foreigner, and he who is speaking, is to me a foreigner;

¹¹ Ond os nad wyf yn deall ystyr y siaradwr, byddaf yn farbariad aflafar iddo, ac yntau i minnau.

¹²so also ye, since ye are earnestly desirous of spiritual gifts, for the building up of the assembly seek that ye may abound;

¹² Gan eich bod chwi, felly, a'ch bryd ar ddoniau'r Ysbryd, ceisiwch gyflawnder o'r rhai sy'n adeiladu'r eglwys.

¹³wherefore he who is speaking in an [unknown] tongue — let him pray that he may interpret;

¹³ Felly, bydded i'r sawl sy'n llefaru � thafodau wedd�o am y gallu i ddehongli.

¹⁴for if I pray in an [unknown] tongue, my spirit doth pray, and my understanding is unfruitful.

¹⁴ Oherwydd os byddaf yn gwedd�o � thafodau, y mae fy ysbryd yn gwedd�o, ond y mae fy meddwl yn ddiffrwyth.

¹⁵What then is it? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray also with the understanding; I will sing psalms with the spirit, and I will sing psalms also with the understanding;

¹⁵ Beth a wnaf, felly? Mi wedd�af �'m hysbryd, ond mi wedd�af �'m deall hefyd. Mi ganaf �'r ysbryd, ond mi ganaf �'r deall hefyd.

¹⁶since, if thou mayest bless with the spirit, he who is filling the place of the unlearned, how shall he say the Amen at thy giving of thanks, since what thou dost say he hath not known?

¹⁶ Onid e, os byddi'n moliannu �'r ysbryd, pa fodd y gall rhywun sydd heb ei hyfforddi ddweud yr "Amen" i'r diolch yr wyt yn ei roi, os nad yw'n deall beth yr wyt yn ei ddweud?

¹⁷for thou, indeed, dost give thanks well, but the other is not built up!

¹⁷ Yr wyt ti'n wir yn rhoi'r diolch yn ddigon da, ond nid yw'r llall yn cael ei adeiladu.

¹⁸I give thanks to my God — more than you all with tongues speaking —

¹⁸ Diolch i Dduw, yr wyf fi'n llefaru � thafodau yn fwy na chwi i gyd.

¹⁹but in an assembly I wish to speak five words through my understanding, that others also I may instruct, rather than myriads of words in an [unknown] tongue.

¹⁹ Ond yn yr eglwys, y mae'n well gennyf lefaru pum gair �'m deall, er mwyn hyfforddi eraill, na deng mil o eiriau � thafodau.

²⁰Brethren, become not children in the understanding, but in the evil be ye babes, and in the understanding become ye perfect;

²⁰ Fy nghyfeillion, peidiwch � bod yn blantos o ran deall; byddwch yn fabanod o ran drygioni, ond yn aeddfed o ran deall.

²¹in the law it hath been written, that, `With other tongues and with other lips I will speak to this people, and not even so will they hear Me, saith the Lord;`

²¹ Y mae'n ysgrifenedig yn y Gyfraith: "'Trwy rai o dafodau dieithr, ac � gwefusau estroniaid, y llefaraf wrth y bobl hyn, ac eto ni wrandawant arnaf,' medd yr Arglwydd."

²²so that the tongues are for a sign, not to the believing, but to the unbelieving; and the prophesy [is] not for the unbelieving, but for the believing,

²² Arwyddion yw tafodau, felly, nid i gredinwyr, ond i anghredinwyr; ond proffwydoliaeth, nid i anghredinwyr y mae, ond i gredinwyr.

²³If, therefore, the whole assembly may come together, to the same place, and all may speak with tongues, and there may come in unlearned or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

²³ Felly, pan ddaw holl aelodau'r eglwys ynghyd i'r un lle, os bydd pawb yn llefaru � thafodau, a phobl heb eu hyfforddi, neu anghredinwyr, yn dod i mewn, oni ddywedant eich bod yn wallgof?

²⁴and if all may prophecy, and any one may come in, an unbeliever or unlearned, he is convicted by all, he is discerned by all,

²⁴ Ond os bydd pawb yn proffwydo, ac anghredadun neu rywun heb ei hyfforddi yn dod i mewn, fe'i hargyhoeddir gan bawb, a'i ddwyn i farn gan bawb;

²⁵and so the secrets of his heart become manifest, and so having fallen upon [his] face, he will bow before God, declaring that God really is among you.

²⁵ daw pethau cuddiedig ei galon i'r amlwg, ac felly bydd yn syrthio ar ei wyneb ac yn addoli Duw a dweud, "Y mae Duw yn wir yn eich plith."

²⁶What then is it, brethren? whenever ye may come together, each of you hath a psalm, hath a teaching, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation? let all things be for building up;

²⁶ Beth amdani, ynteu, gyfeillion? Pan fyddwch yn ymgynnull, bydd gan bob un ei salm, ei air o hyfforddiant, ei ddatguddiad, ei lefaru � thafodau, ei ddehongliad. Gadewch i bob peth fod er adeiladaeth.

²⁷if an [unknown] tongue any one do speak, by two, or at the most, by three, and in turn, and let one interpret;

²⁷ Os oes rhywun yn llefaru � thafodau, bydded i ddau yn unig, neu dri ar y mwyaf, lefaru, a phob un yn ei dro; a bydded i rywun ddehongli.

²⁸and if there may be no interpreter, let him be silent in an assembly, and to himself let him speak, and to God.

²⁸ Os nad oes dehonglydd yn bresennol, bydded y llefarydd yn ddistaw yn y gynulleidfa, a llefaru wrtho'i hun ac wrth Dduw.

²⁹And prophets — let two or three speak, and let the others discern,

²⁹ Dim ond dau neu dri o'r proffwydi sydd i lefaru, a'r lleill i bwyso'r neges.

³⁰and if to another sitting [anything] may be revealed, let the first be silent;

³⁰ Os daw datguddiad i rywun arall sy'n eistedd gerllaw, bydded i'r proffwyd sy'n llefaru dewi.

³¹for ye are able, one by one, all to prophesy, that all may learn, and all may be exhorted,

³¹ Oherwydd gall pawb ohonoch broffwydo, bob yn un, er mwyn i bawb gael addysg a chysur.

³²and the spiritual gift of prophets to prophets are subject,

³² Ac y mae ysbryd pob proffwyd yn ddarostyngedig i'r proffwyd.

³³for God is not [a God] of tumult, but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the saints.

³³ Nid Duw anhrefn yw Duw, ond Duw heddwch. Yn �l y drefn ym mhob un o eglwysi'r saint,

³⁴Your women in the assemblies let them be silent, for it hath not been permitted to them to speak, but to be subject, as also the law saith;

³⁴ dylai'r gwragedd fod yn ddistaw yn yr eglwysi, oherwydd ni chaniateir iddynt lefaru. Dylent fod yn ddarostyngedig, fel y mae'r Gyfraith hefyd yn dweud.

³⁵and if they wish to learn anything, at home their own husbands let them question, for it is a shame to women to speak in an assembly.

³⁵ Os ydynt am gael gwybod rhywbeth, dylent ofyn i'w gwu375?r eu hunain gartref, oherwydd peth anweddus yw i wraig lefaru yn y gynulleidfa.

³⁶From you did the word of God come forth? or to you alone did it come?

³⁶ Ai oddi wrthych chwi y cychwynnodd gair Duw? Neu ai atoch chwi yn unig y cyrhaeddodd?

³⁷if any one doth think to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge the things that I write to you — that of the Lord they are commands;

³⁷ Os oes rhywun ohonoch yn tybio ei fod yn broffwyd, neu'n rhywun ysbrydol, dylai gydnabod mai gorchymyn yr Arglwydd yw'r hyn yr wyf yn ei ysgrifennu atoch.

³⁸and if any one is ignorant — let him be ignorant;

³⁸ Os oes rhai nad ydynt yn cydnabod hynny, ni ch�nt hwythau eu cydnabod.

³⁹so that, brethren, earnestly desire to prophesy, and to speak with tongues do not forbid;

³⁹ Felly, fy nghyfeillion, rhowch eich bryd ar broffwydo, a pheidiwch � gwahardd llefaru � thafodau.

⁴⁰let all things be done decently and in order.

⁴⁰ Dylid gwneud popeth yn weddus ac mewn trefn.
