¹Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹Et me nüüd oleme saanud õigeks usust, siis on meil rahu Jumalaga meie Issanda Jeesuse Kristuse läbi,

²through whom also we have had our access by faith into this grace wherein we stand; and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

²kelle läbi me oleme usus saanud ligipääsu ka sellele armule, milles me seisame, ja me kiitleme oma lootusest Jumalalt saadavale kirkusele.

³And not only so, but we also rejoice in our tribulations: knowing that tribulation worketh stedfastness;

³Aga mitte ainult sellest, vaid me kiitleme ka viletsusest, teades, et viletsus toob kannatlikkuse,

⁴and stedfastness, approvedness; and approvedness, hope:

⁴kannatlikkus läbikatsutuse, läbikatsutus lootuse.

⁵and hope putteth not to shame; because the love of God hath been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given unto us.

⁵Aga lootus ei jäta häbisse, sest Jumala armastus on välja valatud meie südamesse Püha Vaimu läbi, kes meile on antud.

⁶For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly.

⁶Sest juba siis, kui me alles nõrgad olime, on Kristus surnud nende eest, kes tollal veel jumalakartmatud olid.

⁷For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: for peradventure for the good man some one would even dare to die.

⁷Vaevalt, et keegi läheb surma isegi õige eest, kuigi hea sõbra eest mõni ehk julgeks surra.

⁸But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

⁸Ent Jumal teeb nähtavaks oma armastuse meie vastu sellega, et Kristus suri meie eest, kui me olime alles patused.

⁹Much more then, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from the wrath [of God] through him.

⁹Seda kindlamini meid päästetakse tema kaudu viha eest nüüd, kui me tema vere läbi oleme saanud õigeks.

¹⁰For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life;

¹⁰Sest kui me juba vaenlastena saime lepituse Jumalaga tema Poja surma läbi, kui palju kindlamini meid päästetakse tema elu läbi nüüd, kui me oleme juba lepitatud.

¹¹and not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

¹¹Aga mitte ainult seda, vaid me ka kiitleme Jumalast meie Issanda Jeesuse Kristuse läbi, kelle kaudu me oleme nüüd saanud lepituse.

¹²Therefore, as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and so death passed unto all men, for that all sinned:--

¹²Sellepärast, nii nagu üheainsa inimese kaudu on patt tulnud maailma ja patu kaudu surm, nõnda on ka surm tunginud kõikidesse inimestesse, kuna kõik on pattu teinud.

¹³for until the law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

¹³Sest patt oli maailmas juba enne Seadust, aga pattu ei arvestata, kui seadust ei ole.

¹⁴Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is a figure of him that was to come.

¹⁴Ent surm valitses Aadamast Mooseseni ka nende üle, kes ei olnud pattu teinud niisuguse üleastumisega nagu Aadam, kes oli eeltähenduseks temast, kes pidi tulema.

¹⁵But not as the trespass, so also [is] the free gift. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound unto the many.

¹⁵Kuid armuanniga ei ole nõnda nagu üleastumisega! Sest kui ühe inimese üleastumise läbi paljud on surnud, siis seda kindlamini on paljudele saanud ülirohkeks Jumala arm ja and ühe inimese - Jeesuse Kristuse - armu kaudu.

¹⁶And not as through one that sinned, [so] is the gift: for the judgment [came] of one unto condemnation, but the free gift [came] of many trespasses unto justification.

¹⁶Ja anniga ei ole nõnda, nagu ühe patustanu puhul võiks olla, sest üheainsa üleastumise järel sai kohtumõistmine surmamõistmiseks, armuand aga on paljude üleastumiste järel õigeksmõistmiseks.

¹⁷For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, [even] Jesus Christ.

¹⁷Jah, ühe inimese üleastumise tõttu on surm valitsenud kuningana selle ühe kaudu. Aga seda kindlamini need, kes saavad armu ülirohkesti ning õiguse anni, hakkavad valitsema kuningana elus selle ühe - Jeesuse Kristuse - kaudu.

¹⁸So then as through one trespass [the judgment came] unto all men to condemnation; even so through one act of righteousness [the free gift came] unto all men to justification of life.

¹⁸Nõnda siis, nagu ühe üleastumise läbi tuli kõigile inimestele surmamõistmine, nii on ka selle ühe õigusteo läbi kõigile inimestele saanud õigekssaamine eluks.

¹⁹For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous.

¹⁹Sest otsekui tolle ühe inimese sõnakuulmatuse tõttu on paljud saanud patuseks, nõnda saavad ka selle ühe inimese kuulekuse läbi paljud õigeks.

²⁰And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly:

²⁰Seadus on aga kõrvalt sisse tulnud, et üleastumine suureneks. Ent kus patt on suurenenud, seal on arm saanud ülirohkeks,

²¹that, as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²¹et otsekui patt on kuningana valitsenud surma abil, nõnda valitseks armgi kuningana õiguse kaudu ja viiks igavesse ellu Jeesuse Kristuse, meie Issanda läbi.
