1And David consulted with the captains of thousands and of hundreds, even with every leader.
1David tint conseil avec les chefs de milliers et de centaines, avec tous les princes.
1ויועץ דויד עם שרי האלפים והמאות לכל נגיד׃
2And David said unto all the assembly of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and if it be of Jehovah our God, let us send abroad every where unto our brethren that are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us;
2Et David dit à toute l'assemblée d'Israël: Si vous le trouvez bon, et si cela vient de l'Eternel, notre Dieu, envoyons de tous côtés vers nos frères qui restent dans toutes les contrées d'Israël, et aussi vers les sacrificateurs et les Lévites dans les villes où sont leurs banlieues, afin qu'ils se réunissent à nous,
2ויאמר דויד לכל קהל ישראל אם עליכם טוב ומן יהוה אלהינו נפרצה נשלחה על אחינו הנשארים בכל ארצות ישראל ועמהם הכהנים והלוים בערי מגרשיהם ויקבצו אלינו׃
3and let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we sought not unto it in the days of Saul.
3et ramenons auprès de nous l'arche de notre Dieu, car nous ne nous en sommes pas occupés du temps de Saül.
3ונסבה את ארון אלהינו אלינו כי לא דרשנהו בימי שאול׃
4And all the assembly said that they would do so; for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
4Toute l'assemblée décida de faire ainsi, car la chose parut convenable à tout le peuple.
4ויאמרו כל הקהל לעשות כן כי ישר הדבר בעיני כל העם׃
5So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor [the brook] of Egypt even unto the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
5David assembla tout Israël, depuis le Schichor d'Egypte jusqu'à l'entrée de Hamath, pour faire venir de Kirjath-Jearim l'arche de Dieu.
5ויקהל דויד את כל ישראל מן שיחור מצרים ועד לבוא חמת להביא את ארון האלהים מקרית יערים׃
6And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, [that is], to Kiriath-jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God Jehovah that sitteth [above] the cherubim, that is called by the Name.
6Et David, avec tout Israël, monta à Baala, à Kirjath-Jearim, qui est à Juda, pour faire monter de là l'arche de Dieu, devant laquelle est invoqué le nom de l'Eternel qui réside entre les chérubins.
6ויעל דויד וכל ישראל בעלתה אל קרית יערים אשר ליהודה להעלות משם את ארון האלהים יהוה יושב הכרובים אשר נקרא שם׃
7And they carried the ark of God upon a new cart, [and brought it] out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.
7Ils mirent sur un char neuf l'arche de Dieu, qu'ils emportèrent de la maison d'Abinadab: Uzza et Achjo conduisaient le char.
7וירכיבו את ארון האלהים על עגלה חדשה מבית אבינדב ועזא ואחיו נהגים בעגלה׃
8And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, even with songs, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
8David et tout Israël dansaient devant Dieu de toute leur force, en chantant, et en jouant des harpes, des luths, des tambourins, des cymbales et des trompettes.
8ודויד וכל ישראל משחקים לפני האלהים בכל עז ובשירים ובכנרות ובנבלים ובתפים ובמצלתים ובחצצרות׃
9And when they came unto the threshing-floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
9Lorsqu'ils furent arrivés à l'aire de Kidon, Uzza étendit la main pour saisir l'arche, parce que les boeufs la faisaient pencher.
9ויבאו עד גרן כידן וישלח עזא את ידו לאחז את הארון כי שמטו הבקר׃
10And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God.
10La colère de l'Eternel s'enflamma contre Uzza, et l'Eternel le frappa parce qu'il avait étendu la main sur l'arche. Uzza mourut là, devant Dieu.
10ויחר אף יהוה בעזא ויכהו על אשר שלח ידו על הארון וימת שם לפני אלהים׃
11And David was displeased, because Jehovah had broken forth upon Uzza; and he called that place Perez-uzza, unto this day.
11David fut irrité de ce que l'Eternel avait frappé Uzza d'un tel châtiment. Et ce lieu a été appelé jusqu'à ce jour Pérets-Uzza.
11ויחר לדויד כי פרץ יהוה פרץ בעזא ויקרא למקום ההוא פרץ עזא עד היום הזה׃
12And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
12David eut peur de Dieu en ce jour-là, et il dit: Comment ferais-je entrer chez moi l'arche de Dieu?
12ויירא דויד את האלהים ביום ההוא לאמר היך אביא אלי את ארון האלהים׃
13So David removed not the ark unto him into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
13David ne retira pas l'arche chez lui dans la cité de David, et il la fit conduire dans la maison d'Obed-Edom de Gath.
13ולא הסיר דויד את הארון אליו אל עיר דויד ויטהו אל בית עבד אדם הגתי׃
14And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house three months: and Jehovah blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that he had.
14L'arche de Dieu resta trois mois dans la maison d'Obed-Edom, dans sa maison. Et l'Eternel bénit la maison d'Obed-Edom et tout ce qui lui appartenait.
14וישב ארון האלהים עם בית עבד אדם בביתו שלשה חדשים ויברך יהוה את בית עבד אדם ואת כל אשר לו׃
