¹Now the children of Israel after their number, [to wit], the heads of fathers' [houses] and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers that served the king, in any matter of the courses which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year-of every course were twenty and four thousand.

¹Enfants d'Israël selon leur nombre, chefs de maisons paternelles, chefs de milliers et de centaines, et officiers au service du roi pour tout ce qui concernait les divisions, leur arrivée et leur départ, mois par mois, pendant tous les mois de l'année, chaque division étant de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

¹ובני ישראל למספרם ראשי האבות ושרי האלפים והמאות ושטריהם המשרתים את המלך לכל דבר המחלקות הבאה והיצאת חדש בחדש לכל חדשי השנה המחלקת האחת עשרים וארבעה אלף׃

²Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

²A la tête de la première division, pour le premier mois, était Jaschobeam, fils de Zabdiel; et il avait une division de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

²על המחלקת הראשונה לחדש הראשון ישבעם בן זבדיאל ועל מחלקתו עשרים וארבעה אלף׃

³[He was] of the children of Perez, the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.

³Il était des fils de Pérets, et il commandait tous les chefs des troupes du premier mois.

³מן בני פרץ הראש לכל שרי הצבאות לחדש הראשון׃

⁴And over the course of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and his course; and Mikloth the ruler: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

⁴A la tête de la division du second mois était Dodaï, l'Achochite; Mikloth était l'un des chefs de sa division; et il avait une division de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

⁴ועל מחלקת החדש השני דודי האחוחי ומחלקתו ומקלות הנגיד ועל מחלקתו עשרים וארבעה אלף׃

⁵The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada the priest, chief: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

⁵Le chef de la troisième division, pour le troisième mois, était Benaja, fils du sacrificateur Jehojada, chef; et il avait une division de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

⁵שר הצבא השלישי לחדש השלישי בניהו בן יהוידע הכהן ראש ועל מחלקתו עשרים וארבעה אלף׃

⁶This is that Benaiah, who was the mighty man of the thirty, and over the thirty: and [of] his course was Ammizabad his son.

⁶Ce Benaja était un héros parmi les trente et à la tête des trente; et Ammizadab, son fils, était l'un des chefs de sa division.

⁶הוא בניהו גבור השלשים ועל השלשים ומחלקתו עמיזבד בנו׃

⁷The fourth [captain] for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

⁷Le quatrième, pour le quatrième mois, était Asaël, frère de Joab, et, après lui, Zebadia, son fils; et il avait une division de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

⁷הרביעי לחדש הרביעי עשה אל אחי יואב וזבדיה בנו אחריו ועל מחלקתו עשרים וארבעה אלף׃

⁸The fifth captain for this fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

⁸Le cinquième, pour le cinquième mois, était le chef Schamehuth, le Jizrachite; et il avait une division de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

⁸החמישי לחדש החמישי השר שמהות היזרח ועל מחלקתו עשרים וארבעה אלף׃

⁹The sixth [captain] for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

⁹Le sixième, pour le sixième mois, était Ira, fils d'Ikkesch, le Tekoïte; et il avait une division de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

⁹הששי לחדש הששי עירא בן עקש התקועי ועל מחלקתו עשרים וארבעה אלף׃

¹⁰The seventh [captain] for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

¹⁰Le septième, pour le septième mois, était Hélets, le Pelonite, des fils d'Ephraïm; et il avait une division de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

¹¹The eighth [captain] for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

¹¹Le huitième, pour le huitième mois, était Sibbecaï, le Huschatite, de la famille des Zérachites; et il avait une division de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

¹²The ninth [captain] for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

¹²התשיעי לחדש התשיעי אביעזר הענתתי לבנימיני ועל מחלקתו עשרים וארבעה אלף׃

¹³The tenth [captain] for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zerahites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

¹⁵The twelfth [captain] for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

¹⁵Le douzième, pour le douzième mois, était Heldaï, de Nethopha, de la famille d'Othniel; et il avait une division de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

¹⁶Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri the ruler: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maacah:

¹⁷of Levi, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of Aaron, Zadok:

¹⁷des Lévites: Haschabia, fils de Kemuel; de la famille d'Aaron: Tsadok;

¹⁸of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David: of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael:

¹⁸ליהודה אליהו מאחי דויד ליששכר עמרי בן מיכאל׃

¹⁹of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah: of Naphtali, Jeremoth the son of Azriel:

¹⁹לזבולן ישמעיהו בן עבדיהו לנפתלי ירימות בן עזריאל׃

²⁰of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah: of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah:

²⁰לבני אפרים הושע בן עזזיהו לחצי שבט מנשה יואל בן פדיהו׃

²¹of the half -[tribe] of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah: of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner:

²¹de la demi-tribu de Manassé en Galaad: Jiddo, fils de Zacharie; de Benjamin: Jaasiel, fils d'Abner;

²¹לחצי המנשה גלעדה ידו בן זכריהו לבנימן יעשיאל בן אבנר׃

²²of Dan, Azarel the son of Jeroham. These were the captains of the tribes of Israel.

²²de Dan: Azareel, fils de Jerocham. Ce sont là les chefs des tribus d'Israël.

²²לדן עזראל בן ירחם אלה שרי שבטי ישראל׃

²³But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under, because Jehovah had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of heaven.

²³David ne fit point le dénombrement de ceux d'Israël qui étaient âgés de vingt ans et au-dessous, car l'Eternel avait promis de multiplier Israël comme les étoiles du ciel.

²³ולא נשא דויד מספרם למבן עשרים שנה ולמטה כי אמר יהוה להרבות את ישראל ככוכבי השמים׃

²⁴Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but finished not; and there came wrath for this upon Israel; neither was the number put into the account in the chronicles of king David.

²⁴Joab, fils de Tseruja, avait commencé le dénombrement, mais il ne l'acheva pas, l'Eternel s'étant irrité contre Israël à cause de ce dénombrement, qui ne fut point porté parmi ceux des Chroniques du roi David.

²⁴יואב בן צרויה החל למנות ולא כלה ויהי בזאת קצף על ישראל ולא עלה המספר במספר דברי הימים למלך דויד׃

²⁵And over the king's treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the treasures in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Jonathan the son of Uzziah:

²⁵Azmaveth, fils d'Adiel, était préposé sur les trésors du roi; Jonathan, fils d'Ozias, sur les provisions dans les champs, les villes, les villages et les tours;

²⁵ועל אצרות המלך עזמות בן עדיאל ועל האצרות בשדה בערים ובכפרים ובמגדלות יהונתן בן עזיהו׃

²⁶And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub:

²⁶Ezri, fils de Kelub, sur les ouvriers de la campagne qui cultivaient la terre;

²⁶ועל עשי מלאכת השדה לעבדת האדמה עזרי בן כלוב׃

²⁷and over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite: and over the increase of the vineyards for the wine-cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite:

²⁷Schimeï, de Rama, sur les vignes; Zabdi, de Schepham, sur les provisions de vin dans les vignes;

²⁷ועל הכרמים שמעי הרמתי ועל שבכרמים לאצרות היין זבדי השפמי׃

²⁸and over the olive-trees and the sycomore-trees that were in the lowland was Baal-hanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was Joash:

²⁸Baal-Hanan, de Guéder, sur les oliviers et les sycomores dans la plaine; Joasch, sur les provisions d'huile;

²⁸ועל הזיתים והשקמים אשר בשפלה בעל חנן הגדרי ועל אצרות השמן יועש׃

²⁹and over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai:

²⁹Schithraï, de Saron, sur les boeufs qui paissaient en Saron; Schaphath, fils d'Adlaï, sur les boeufs dans les vallées;

²⁹ועל הבקר הרעים בשרון שטרי השרוני ועל הבקר בעמקים שפט בן עדלי׃

³⁰and over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the asses was Jehdeiah the Meronothite: and over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite.

³⁰Obil, l'Ismaélite, sur les chameaux; Jechdia, de Méronoth, sur les ânesses;

³⁰ועל הגמלים אוביל הישמעלי ועל האתנות יחדיהו המרנתי׃

³¹All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David's.

³¹Jaziz, l'Hagarénien, sur les brebis. Tous ceux-là étaient intendants des biens du roi David.

³¹ועל הצאן יזיז ההגרי כל אלה שרי הרכוש אשר למלך דויד׃

³²Also Jonathan, David's uncle, was a counsellor, a man of understanding, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king's sons:

³²Jonathan, oncle de David, était conseiller, homme de sens et de savoir; Jehiel, fils de Hacmoni, était auprès des fils du roi;

³³And Ahithophel was the king's counsellor: and Hushai the Archite was the king's friend:

³³Achitophel était conseiller du roi; Huschaï, l'Arkien, était ami du roi;

³³ואחיתפל יועץ למלך וחושי הארכי רע המלך׃

³⁴and after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar: and the captain of the king's host was Joab.

³⁴après Achitophel, Jehojada, fils de Benaja, et Abiathar, furent conseillers; Joab était chef de l'armée du roi.

³⁴ואחרי אחיתפל יהוידע בן בניהו ואביתר ושר צבא למלך יואב׃
