¹Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand,

¹Je vous rappelle, frères, l'Evangile que je vous ai annoncé, que vous avez reçu, dans lequel vous avez persévéré,

¹ואני אחי אודיעכם את הבשורה אשר בשרתי אתכם אשר גם קבלתם אתה וגם עמדתם בה׃

²by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain.

²et par lequel vous êtes sauvés, si vous le retenez tel que je vous l'ai annoncé; autrement, vous auriez cru en vain.

²אשר גם תושעו בה אם תחזיקו בדבר אשר בשרתי אתכם אך אם לא לשוא האמנתם׃

³For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

³Je vous ai enseigné avant tout, comme je l'avais aussi reçu, que Christ est mort pour nos péchés, selon les Ecritures;

³כי מסרתי לכם בראשונה את אשר גם קבלתי כי המשיח מת בעד חטאתינו כפי הכתובים׃

⁴and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures;

⁴qu'il a été enseveli, et qu'il est ressuscité le troisième jour, selon les Ecritures;

⁴וכי נקבר וכי הוקם ביום השלישי כפי הכתובים׃

⁵and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve;

⁵et qu'il est apparu à Céphas, puis aux douze.

⁵וכי נראה אל כיפא ואחריו אל שנים העשר׃

⁶then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep;

⁶Ensuite, il est apparu à plus de cinq cents frères à la fois, dont la plupart sont encore vivants, et dont quelques-uns sont morts.

⁶ואחרי כן נראה ליותר מחמש מאות אחים כאחד אשר רבם עודם בחיים ומקצתם ישנו׃

⁷then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles;

⁷Ensuite, il est apparu à Jacques, puis à tous les apôtres.

⁷ואחרי כן נראה אל יעקב ואחריו אל כל השליחים׃

⁸and last of all, as to the [child] untimely born, he appeared to me also.

⁸Après eux tous, il m'est aussi apparu à moi, comme à l'avorton;

⁸ואחרי כלם נראה גם אלי כמו אל הנפל׃

⁹For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

⁹car je suis le moindre des apôtres, je ne suis pas digne d'être appelé apôtre, parce que j'ai persécuté l'Eglise de Dieu.

⁹כי אני הצעיר בשליחים ואינני כדי להקרא שליח באשר רדפתי את קהל האלהים׃

¹⁰But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

¹⁰Par la grâce de Dieu je suis ce que je suis, et sa grâce envers moi n'a pas été vaine; loin de là, j'ai travaillé plus qu'eux tous, non pas moi toutefois, mais la grâce de Dieu qui est avec moi.

¹⁰אבל בחסד אלהים הייתי מה שהייתי וחסדו עלי לא היה לריק כי יותר מכלם עבדתי ולא אני כי אם חסד אלהים אשר עמדי׃

¹¹Whether then [it be] I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

¹¹Ainsi donc, que ce soit moi, que ce soient eux, voilà ce que nous prêchons, et c'est ce que vous avez cru.

¹¹והנה גם אני גם המה ככה משמיעים וככה האמנתם׃

¹²Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

¹²Or, si l'on prêche que Christ est ressuscité des morts, comment quelques-uns parmi vous disent-ils qu'il n'y a point de résurrection des morts?

¹²ואם הגד הגד כי הוקם המשיח מן המתים איך יאמרו אנשים מכם כי אין תחיה למתים׃

¹³But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither hath Christ been raised:

¹³S'il n'y a point de résurrection des morts, Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité.

¹³אם אין תחיה למתים גם המשיח לא הוקם׃

¹⁴and if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain.

¹⁴Et si Christ n'est pas ressuscité, notre prédication est donc vaine, et votre foi aussi est vaine.

¹⁴ואם המשיח לא הוקם כי עתה ריק שמועתנו וגם ריק אמונתכם׃

¹⁵Yea, we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised.

¹⁵Il se trouve même que nous sommes de faux témoins à l'égard de Dieu, puisque nous avons témoigné contre Dieu qu'il a ressuscité Christ, tandis qu'il ne l'aurait pas ressuscité, si les morts ne ressuscitent point.

¹⁵וגם נמצא עדי שקר לאלהים יען אשר העידנו את האלהים כי הקים את המשיח אשר לא הקימו אם אמת הוא שהמתים לא יקומו׃

¹⁶For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised:

¹⁶Car si les morts ne ressuscitent point, Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité.

¹⁶כי אם המתים לא יקומו גם המשיח לא קם׃

¹⁷and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

¹⁷Et si Christ n'est pas ressuscité, votre foi est vaine, vous êtes encore dans vos péchés,

¹⁷ואם המשיח לא קם הבל אמונתכם ועודכם בחטאתיכם׃

¹⁸Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

¹⁸et par conséquent aussi ceux qui sont morts en Christ sont perdus.

¹⁸אזי גם אשר ישנו במשיח אבד אבדו׃

¹⁹If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable.

¹⁹Si c'est dans cette vie seulement que nous espérons en Christ, nous sommes les plus malheureux de tous les hommes.

¹⁹ואם בחיים האלה לבד בטחים אנחנו במשיח אמללים אנחנו מכל אדם׃

²⁰But now hath Christ been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of them that are asleep.

²⁰Mais maintenant, Christ est ressuscité des morts, il est les prémices de ceux qui sont morts.

²⁰ועתה המשיח הוקם מן המתים ויהי לראשית הישנים׃

²¹For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead.

²¹Car, puisque la mort est venue par un homme, c'est aussi par un homme qu'est venue la résurrection des morts.

²¹כי אחרי אשר בא המות על ידי אדם אחד גם תחית המתים באה על ידי אדם אחד׃

²²For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

²²Et comme tous meurent en Adam, de même aussi tous revivront en Christ,

²²כי כאשר באדם מתים כלם כן גם יחיו כלם במשיח׃

²³But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ's, at his coming.

²³mais chacun en son rang. Christ comme prémices, puis ceux qui appartiennent à Christ, lors de son avènement.

²³וכל אחד ואחד בסדרו ראשית כלם המשיח ואחרי כן אשר הם למשיח בבואו׃

²⁴Then [cometh] the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power.

²⁴Ensuite viendra la fin, quand il remettra le royaume à celui qui est Dieu et Père, après avoir détruit toute domination, toute autorité et toute puissance.

²⁴ואחרי כן הקץ כשימסר את המלכות אל האלהים האב אחרי בטלו כל משרה וכל שלטן וגבורה׃

²⁵For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet.

²⁵Car il faut qu'il règne jusqu'à ce qu'il ait mis tous les ennemis sous ses pieds.

²⁵כי הוא מלך ימלך עד כי ישית את כל איביו תחת רגליו׃

²⁶The last enemy that shall be abolished is death.

²⁶Le dernier ennemi qui sera détruit, c'est la mort.

²⁶ואחרון האיבים אשר יבטל הוא המות׃

²⁷For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him.

²⁷Dieu, en effet, a tout mis sous ses pieds. Mais lorsqu'il dit que tout lui a été soumis, il est évident que celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses est excepté.

²⁷כי כל שת תחת רגליו ובאמרו כל הושת תחתיו ברור הוא שהשת כל תחתיו איננו בכלל׃

²⁸And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.

²⁸Et lorsque toutes choses lui auront été soumises, alors le Fils lui-même sera soumis à celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses, afin que Dieu soit tout en tous.

²⁸וכאשר יושת הכל תחתיו אז הבן גם הוא יושת תחת השת כל תחתיו למען יהיה האלהים הכל בכל׃

²⁹Else what shall they do that are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?

²⁹Autrement, que feraient ceux qui se font baptiser pour les morts? Si les morts ne ressuscitent absolument pas, pourquoi se font-ils baptiser pour eux?

²⁹כי מה יעשו הנטבלים בעד המתים אם אמת הוא שהמתים קום לא יקומו למה זה יטבלו בעד המתים׃

³⁰Why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour?

³⁰Et nous, pourquoi sommes-nous à toute heure en péril?

³⁰ולמה זה אנחנו בסכנה בכל שעה׃

³¹I protest by that glorifying in you, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

³¹Chaque jour je suis exposé à la mort, je l'atteste, frères, par la gloire dont vous êtes pour moi le sujet, en Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur.

³¹בתהלתנו אשר יש לי במשיח ישוע אדנינו מעיד אני עלי כי מת אנכי בכל יום ויום׃

³²If after the manner of men I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.

³²Si c'est dans des vues humaines que j'ai combattu contre les bêtes à Ephèse, quel avantage m'en revient-il? Si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, Mangeons et buvons, car demain nous mourrons.

³²אם לפי ררכו של אדם נלחמתי עם החיות הרעות באפסוס מה תועלת יש לי אם המתים לא יקומו נאכלה ונשתה כי מחר נמות׃

³³Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals.

³³Ne vous y trompez pas: les mauvaises compagnies corrompent les bonnes moeurs.

³³אל נא תתעו חברת אנשים רעים משחתת מדות טבות׃

³⁴Awake to soberness righteously, and sin not; for some have no knowledge of God: I speak [this] to move you to shame.

³⁴Revenez à vous-mêmes, comme il est convenable, et ne péchez point; car quelques-uns ne connaissent pas Dieu, je le dis à votre honte.

³⁴הקיצו במישרים משכרון ואל תחטאו כי יש אנשים אשר אין בהם דעת אלהים לבשתכם אני אמר זאת׃

³⁵But some one will say, How are the dead raised? and with what manner of body do they come?

³⁵Mais quelqu'un dira: Comment les morts ressuscitent-ils, et avec quel corps reviennent-ils?

³⁵ואם יאמר איש איך יקומו המתים ובאי זה גוף יבואו׃

³⁶Thou foolish one, that which thou thyself sowest is not quickened except it die:

³⁶Insensé! ce que tu sèmes ne reprend point vie, s'il ne meurt.

³⁶אתה הסכל הן מה שתזרע לא יחיה בלתי אם ימות׃

³⁷and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but a bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other kind;

³⁷Et ce que tu sèmes, ce n'est pas le corps qui naîtra; c'est un simple grain, de blé peut-être, ou de quelque autre semence;

³⁷ומה שתזרע אינך זרע את הגוף אשר יהיה כי אם כגרגר ערם של חטה או של אחד הזרעים׃

³⁸but God giveth it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.

³⁸puis Dieu lui donne un corps comme il lui plaît, et à chaque semence il donne un corps qui lui est propre.

³⁸והאלהים יתן לו גוף כפי רצונו ולכל זרע וזרע את גופו למינהו׃

³⁹All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one [flesh] of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fishes.

³⁹Toute chair n'est pas la même chair; mais autre est la chair des hommes, autre celle des quadrupèdes, autre celle des oiseaux, autre celle des poissons.

³⁹לא כל הבשר באשר אחד הוא כי מין אחר הוא בשר האדם ומין אחר בשר הבהמה ומין אחר בשר הדגה ומין אחר בשר העוף׃

⁴⁰There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the [glory] of the terrestrial is another.

⁴⁰Il y a aussi des corps célestes et des corps terrestres; mais autre est l'éclat des corps célestes, autre celui des corps terrestres.

⁴⁰ויש גופות שבשמים וגופות שבארץ אבל אחר הוא כבוד הגופות שבשמים וגופות שבארץ אבל אחר הוא כבוד הגופות שבשמים ואחר הוא כבוד הגופות שבארץ׃

⁴¹There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory.

⁴¹Autre est l'éclat du soleil, autre l'éclat de la lune, et autre l'éclat des étoiles; même une étoile diffère en éclat d'une autre étoile.

⁴¹אחר הוא כבוד השמש ואחר הוא כבוד הירח ואחר הוא כבוד הכוכבים כי כוכב מכוכב נבדל בכבודו׃

⁴²So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

⁴²Ainsi en est-il de la résurrection des morts. Le corps est semé corruptible; il ressuscite incorruptible;

⁴²וכן גם בתחיה המתים הן יזרע בכליון ויקום בלא כליון׃

⁴³it is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

⁴³il est semé méprisable, il ressuscite glorieux; il est semé infirme, il ressuscite plein de force;

⁴³יזרע בבזיון ויקום בכבוד יזרע בחלשה ויקום בגבורה׃

⁴⁴it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual [body].

⁴⁴il est semé corps animal, il ressuscite corps spirituel. S'il y a un corps animal, il y a aussi un corps spirituel.

⁴⁴יזרע גוף נפשי ויקום גוף רוחני יש גוף נפשי ויש גוף רוחני׃

⁴⁵So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam [became] a life-giving spirit.

⁴⁵C'est pourquoi il est écrit: Le premier homme, Adam, devint une âme vivante. Le dernier Adam est devenu un esprit vivifiant.

⁴⁵כן גם כתוב ויהי האדם הוא אדם הראשון לנפש חיה אדם האחרון לרוח מחיה׃

⁴⁶Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.

⁴⁶Mais ce qui est spirituel n'est pas le premier, c'est ce qui est animal; ce qui est spirituel vient ensuite.

⁴⁶אבל לא של הרוח היא הראשונה אלא של הנפש ואחרי כן של הרוח׃

⁴⁷The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of heaven.

⁴⁷Le premier homme, tiré de la terre, est terrestre; le second homme est du ciel.

⁴⁷האדם הראשון מן האדמה הוא של עפר והאדם השני הוא האדון מן השמים׃

⁴⁸As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

⁴⁸Tel est le terrestre, tels sont aussi les terrestres; et tel est le céleste, tels sont aussi les célestes.

⁴⁸וכמו אשר הוא מעפר ככה גם אשר הם מעפר וכמו אשר הוא מן השמים ככה גם אשר הם מן השמים׃

⁴⁹And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

⁴⁹Et de même que nous avons porté l'image du terrestre, nous porterons aussi l'image du céleste.

⁴⁹וכאשר לבשנו דמות האדם אשר מעפר כן נלבש גם דמות האדם אשר מן השמים׃

⁵⁰Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

⁵⁰Ce que je dis, frères, c'est que la chair et le sang ne peuvent hériter le royaume de Dieu, et que la corruption n'hérite pas l'incorruptibilité.

⁵⁰וזאת אני אמר אחי כי בשר ודם לא יוכל לרשת את מלכות האלהים ואשר יכלה לא יירש את אשר לא יכלה׃

⁵¹Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed,

⁵¹Voici, je vous dis un mystère: nous ne mourrons pas tous, mais tous nous serons changés,

⁵¹הנה סוד אגידה לכם הן לא כלנו נישן המות אבל כלנו נתחלף׃

⁵²in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

⁵²en un instant, en un clin d'oeil, à la dernière trompette. La trompette sonnera, et les morts ressusciteront incorruptibles, et nous, nous serons changés.

⁵²ברגע אחד כהרף עין כתקע השופר האחרון כי יתקע בשופר והמתים יחיו בלי כליון ואנחנו נתחלף׃

⁵³For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

⁵³Car il faut que ce corps corruptible revête l'incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel revête l'immortalité.

⁵³כי מה שעתה לכליון לבוש ילבש אל כליון ואמר ימות יבוש ילבש אל מות׃

⁵⁴But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

⁵⁴Lorsque ce corps corruptible aura revêtu l'incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel aura revêtu l'immortalité, alors s'accomplira la parole qui est écrite: La mort a été engloutie dans la victoire.

⁵⁴וכשילבש מה שעתה לכליון אל כליון ומה שעתה למות ילבש אל מות אז יהיה דבר הכתוב בלע המות לנצח׃

⁵⁵O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?

⁵⁵O mort, où est ta victoire? O mort, où est ton aiguillon?

⁵⁵איה עקצף המות איה שאול בצחונך׃

⁵⁶The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:

⁵⁶L'aiguillon de la mort, c'est le péché; et la puissance du péché, c'est la loi.

⁵⁶עקץ המות הוא החטא וכח החטא היא התורה׃

⁵⁷but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁵⁷Mais grâces soient rendues à Dieu, qui nous donne la victoire par notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ!

⁵⁷אבל תודות לאלהים אשר נתן לנו הנצחון על ידי אדנינו ישוע המשיח׃

⁵⁸Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.

⁵⁸Ainsi, mes frères bien-aimés, soyez fermes, inébranlables, travaillant de mieux en mieux à l'oeuvre du Seigneur, sachant que votre travail ne sera pas vain dans le Seigneur.

⁵⁸על כן אחי חביבי התכוננו בל תמוטו והעדיפו בכל עת במעשה אדנינו מדעתכם כי לא לריק עמלכם באדנינו׃
