1But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,

1אבל הרוח אמר בפרוש כי באחרית הימים יהיו אנשים אשר יסורו מן האמונה בפנותם אל הרוחות המטעות ואל תורת השדים׃
2through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;
2par l'hypocrisie de faux docteurs portant la marque de la flétrissure dans leur propre conscience,
2דברי שקרים בחנפה ונכוים הם במדעת׃
3forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by them that believe and know the truth.
3prescrivant de ne pas se marier, et de s'abstenir d'aliments que Dieu a créés pour qu'ils soient pris avec actions de grâces par ceux qui sont fidèles et qui ont connu la vérité.
3אסרים לקחת אשה ומנעים ממיני מאכל אשר בראם האלהים שיאכלות בתודה המאמינים וידעי האמת׃
4For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving:
4Car tout ce que Dieu a créé est bon, et rien ne doit être rejeté, pourvu qu'on le prenne avec actions de grâces,
4כי כל בריאת אלהים טובה היא ואין דבר משקץ אם יאכל בתודה׃
5for it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.
5parce que tout est sanctifié par la parole de Dieu et par la prière.
5כי יקדש בדבר אלהים ובתפלה׃
6If thou put the brethren in mind of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which thou hast followed [until now]:
6En exposant ces choses aux frères, tu seras un bon ministre de Jésus Christ, nourri des paroles de la foi et de la bonne doctrine que tu as exactement suivie.
6אם תשים כזאת לפני אחיך משרת טוב תהיה לישוע המשיח מגדל בדברי האמונה ובלקח הטוב אשר דבקת אחריו׃
7but refuse profane and old wives' fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness:
7Repousse les contes profanes et absurdes. Exerce-toi à la piété;
7אך התרחק מהגדות פסולות ובלות והרגל עצמך בחסידות׃
8for bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which now is, and of that which is to come.
8car l'exercice corporel est utile à peu de chose, tandis que la piété est utile à tout, ayant la promesse de la vie présente et de celle qui est à venir.
8כי הרגל הגוף יועיל מעט אבל החסידות תועיל לכל דבר ויש לה הבטחת חיי העולם הזה והעולם הבא׃
9Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation.
9C'est là une parole certaine et entièrement digne d'être reçue.
9נאמן הדבר הזה וראוי על כל להתקבל׃
10For to this end we labor and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of them that believe.
10Nous travaillons, en effet, et nous combattons, parce que nous mettons notre espérance dans le Dieu vivant, qui est le Sauveur de tous les hommes, principalement des croyants.
10כי לזאת אנחנו גם יגעים גם נעלבים על אשר הוחלנו לאלהים חיים שהוא המושיע לכל האדם וביותר למאמינים׃
11These things command and teach.
11Déclare ces choses, et enseigne-les.
11את זאת תצוה ותלמד׃
12Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an ensample to them that believe, in word, in manner of life, in love, in faith, in purity.
12Que personne ne méprise ta jeunesse; mais sois un modèle pour les fidèles, en parole, en conduite, en charité, en foi, en pureté.
12אל יבוז איש את בחורותיך אך היה מופת למאמינים בדבור במעשה באהבה ברוח באמונה ובטהרה׃
13Till I come, give heed to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.
13Jusqu'à ce que je vienne, applique-toi à la lecture, à l'exhortation, à l'enseignement.
13והיה שקוד לקרות ולהוכיח ולהורת עד כי אבוא׃
14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
14Ne néglige pas le don qui est en toi, et qui t'a été donné par prophétie avec l'imposition des mains de l'assemblée des anciens.
14ואל תקל בעיניך מתנת החסד אשר בך הנתונה לך בנבואה עם סמיכת ידי הזקנים׃
15Be diligent in these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy progress may be manifest unto all.
15Occupe-toi de ces choses, donne-toi tout entier à elles, afin que tes progrès soient évidents pour tous.
15לאלה תשית לבך ובהם היה למען תראה הצלחתך לכל׃
16Take heed to thyself, and to thy teaching. Continue in these things; for in doing this thou shalt save both thyself and them that hear thee.
16Veille sur toi-même et sur ton enseignement; persévère dans ces choses, car, en agissant ainsi, tu te sauveras toi-même, et tu sauveras ceux qui t'écoutent.
16שית לבך לנפשך ולהוראה והחזק בזה כי בעשותך כן תושיע את נפשך ואת נפש השמעים אליך׃
