¹Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem.

¹Manassé avait douze ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans à Jérusalem.

¹בן שתים עשרה שנה מנשה במלכו וחמשים וחמש שנה מלך בירושלם׃

²And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, after the abominations of the nations whom Jehovah cast out before the children of Israel.

²Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel, selon les abominations des nations que l'Eternel avait chassées devant les enfants d'Israël.

²ויעש הרע בעיני יהוה כתועבות הגוים אשר הוריש יהוה מפני בני ישראל׃

³For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; and he reared up altars for the Baalim, and made Asheroth, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

³Il rebâtit les hauts lieux qu'Ezéchias, son père, avait renversés; il éleva des autels aux Baals, il fit des idoles d'Astarté, et il se prosterna devant toute l'armée des cieux et la servit.

³וישב ויבן את הבמות אשר נתץ יחזקיהו אביו ויקם מזבחות לבעלים ויעש אשרות וישתחו לכל צבא השמים ויעבד אתם׃

⁴And he built altars in the house of Jehovah, whereof Jehovah said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.

⁴Il bâtit des autels dans la maison de l'Eternel, quoique l'Eternel eût dit: C'est dans Jérusalem que sera mon nom à perpétuité.

⁴ובנה מזבחות בבית יהוה אשר אמר יהוה בירושלם יהיה שמי לעולם׃

⁵And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of Jehovah.

⁵Il bâtit des autels à toute l'armée des cieux dans les deux parvis de la maison de l'Eternel.

⁵ויבן מזבחות לכל צבא השמים בשתי חצרות בית יהוה׃

⁶He also made his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom; and he practised augury, and used enchantments, and practised sorcery, and dealt with them that had familiar spirits, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.

⁶Il fit passer ses fils par le feu dans la vallée des fils de Hinnom; il observait les nuages et les serpents pour en tirer des pronostics, il s'adonnait à la magie, et il établit des gens qui évoquaient les esprits et qui prédisaient l'avenir. Il fit de plus en plus ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel, afin de l'irriter.

⁶והוא העביר את בניו באש בגי בן הנם ועונן ונחש וכשף ועשה אוב וידעוני הרבה לעשות הרע בעיני יהוה להכעיסו׃

⁷And he set the graven image of the idol, which he had made, in the house of God, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:

⁷Il plaça l'image taillée de l'idole qu'il avait faite dans la maison de Dieu, de laquelle Dieu avait dit à David et à Salomon, son fils: C'est dans cette maison, et c'est dans Jérusalem que j'ai choisie parmi toutes les tribus d'Israël, que je veux à toujours placer mon nom.

⁷וישם את פסל הסמל אשר עשה בבית האלהים אשר אמר אלהים אל דויד ואל שלמה בנו בבית הזה ובירושלם אשר בחרתי מכל שבטי ישראל אשים את שמי לעילום׃

⁸neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from off the land which I have appointed for your fathers, if only they will observe to do all that I have commanded them, even all the law and the statutes and the ordinances [given] by Moses.

⁸Je ne ferai plus sortir Israël du pays que j'ai destiné à vos pères, pourvu seulement qu'ils aient soin de mettre en pratique tout ce que je leur ai commandé, selon toute la loi, les préceptes et les ordonnances prescrits par Moïse.

⁸ולא אוסיף להסיר את רגל ישראל מעל האדמה אשר העמדתי לאבתיכם רק אם ישמרו לעשות את כל אשר צויתים לכל התורה והחקים והמשפטים ביד משה׃

⁹And Manasseh seduced Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that they did evil more than did the nations whom Jehovah destroyed before the children of Israel.

⁹Mais Manassé fut cause que Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem s'égarèrent et firent le mal plus que les nations que l'Eternel avait détruites devant les enfants d'Israël.

⁹ויתע מנשה את יהודה וישבי ירושלם לעשות רע מן הגוים אשר השמיד יהוה מפני בני ישראל׃

¹⁰And Jehovah spake to Manasseh, and to his people; but they gave no heed.

¹⁰L'Eternel parla à Manassé et à son peuple, et ils n'y firent point attention.

¹⁰וידבר יהוה אל מנשה ואל עמו ולא הקשיבו׃

¹¹Wherefore Jehovah brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh in chains, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

¹¹Alors l'Eternel fit venir contre eux les chefs de l'armée du roi d'Assyrie, qui saisirent Manassé et le mirent dans les fers; ils le lièrent avec des chaînes d'airain, et le menèrent à Babylone.

¹¹ויבא יהוה עליהם את שרי הצבא אשר למלך אשור וילכדו את מנשה בחחים ויאסרהו בנחשתים ויוליכהו בבלה׃

¹²And when he was in distress, he besought Jehovah his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

¹²Lorsqu'il fut dans la détresse, il implora l'Eternel, son Dieu, et il s'humilia profondément devant le Dieu de ses pères.

¹²וכהצר לו חלה את פני יהוה אלהיו ויכנע מאד מלפני אלהי אבתיו׃

¹³And he prayed unto him; and he was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that Jehovah he was God.

¹³Il lui adressa ses prières; et l'Eternel, se laissant fléchir, exauça ses supplications, et le ramena à Jérusalem dans son royaume. Et Manassé reconnut que l'Eternel est Dieu.

¹³ויתפלל אליו ויעתר לו וישמע תחנתו וישיבהו ירושלם למלכותו וידע מנשה כי יהוה הוא האלהים׃

¹⁴Now after this he built an outer wall to the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entrance at the fish gate; and he compassed Ophel about [with it], and raised it up to a very great height: and he put valiant captains in all the fortified cities of Judah.

¹⁴Après cela, il bâtit en dehors de la ville de David, à l'occident, vers Guihon dans la vallée, un mur qui se prolongeait jusqu'à la porte des poissons et dont il entoura la colline, et il l'éleva à une grande hauteur; il mit aussi des chefs militaires dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda.

¹⁴ואחרי כן בנה חומה חיצונה לעיר דויד מערבה לגיחון בנחל ולבוא בשער הדגים וסבב לעפל ויגביהה מאד וישם שרי חיל בכל הערים הבצרות ביהודה׃

¹⁵And he took away the foreign gods, and the idol out of the house of Jehovah, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of Jehovah, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.

¹⁵Il fit disparaître de la maison de l'Eternel les dieux étrangers et l'idole, et il renversa tous les autels qu'il avait bâtis sur la montagne de la maison de l'Eternel et à Jérusalem; et il les jeta hors de la ville.

¹⁵ויסר את אלהי הנכר ואת הסמל מבית יהוה וכל המזבחות אשר בנה בהר בית יהוה ובירושלם וישלך חוצה לעיר׃

¹⁶And he built up the altar of Jehovah, and offered thereon sacrifices of peace-offerings and of thanksgiving, and commanded Judah to serve Jehovah, the God of Israel.

¹⁶Il rétablit l'autel de l'Eternel et y offrit des sacrifices d'actions de grâces et de reconnaissance, et il ordonna à Juda de servir l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël.

¹⁶ויכן את מזבח יהוה ויזבח עליו זבחי שלמים ותודה ויאמר ליהודה לעבוד את יהוה אלהי ישראל׃

¹⁷Nevertheless the people sacrificed still in the high places, but only unto Jehovah their God.

¹⁷Le peuple sacrifiait bien encore sur les hauts lieux, mais seulement à l'Eternel, son Dieu.

¹⁷אבל עוד העם זבחים בבמות רק ליהוה אלהיהם׃

¹⁸Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel, behold, they are written among the acts of the kings of Israel.

¹⁸Le reste des actions de Manassé, sa prière à son Dieu, et les paroles des prophètes qui lui parlèrent au nom de l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, cela est écrit dans les actes des rois d'Israël.

¹⁸ויתר דברי מנשה ותפלתו אל אלהיו ודברי החזים המדברים אליו בשם יהוה אלהי ישראל הנם על דברי מלכי ישראל׃

¹⁹His prayer also, and how [God] was entreated of him, and all his sin and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up the Asherim and the graven images, before he humbled himself: behold, they are written in the history of Hozai.

¹⁹Sa prière et la manière dont Dieu l'exauça, ses péchés et ses infidélités, les places où il bâtit des hauts lieux et dressa des idoles et des images taillées avant de s'être humilié, cela est écrit dans le livre de Hozaï.

¹⁹ותפלתו והעתר לו וכל חטאתו ומעלו והמקמות אשר בנה בהם במות והעמיד האשרים והפסלים לפני הכנעו הנם כתובים על דברי חוזי׃

²⁰So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

²⁰Manassé se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans sa maison. Et Amon, son fils, régna à sa place.

²⁰וישכב מנשה עם אבתיו ויקברהו ביתו וימלך אמון בנו תחתיו׃

²¹Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned two years in Jerusalem.

²¹Amon avait vingt-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna deux ans à Jérusalem.

²¹בן עשרים ושתים שנה אמון במלכו ושתים שנים מלך בירושלם׃

²²And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, as did Manasseh his father; and Amon sacrificed unto all the graven images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them.

²²Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel, comme avait fait Manassé, son père; il sacrifia à toutes les images taillées qu'avait faites Manassé, son père, et il les servit;

²²ויעש הרע בעיני יהוה כאשר עשה מנשה אביו ולכל הפסילים אשר עשה מנשה אביו זבח אמון ויעבדם׃

²³And he humbled not himself before Jehovah, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but this same Amon trespassed more and more.

²³et il ne s'humilia pas devant l'Eternel, comme s'était humilié Manassé, son père, car lui, Amon, se rendit de plus en plus coupable.

²³ולא נכנע מלפני יהוה כהכנע מנשה אביו כי הוא אמון הרבה אשמה׃

²⁴And his servants conspired against him, and put him to death in his own house.

²⁴Ses serviteurs conspirèrent contre lui, et le firent mourir dans sa maison.

²⁴ויקשרו עליו עבדיו וימיתהו בביתו׃

²⁵But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

²⁵Mais le peuple du pays frappa tous ceux qui avaient conspiré contre le roi Amon; et le peuple du pays établit roi Josias, son fils, à sa place.

²⁵ויכו עם הארץ את כל הקשרים על המלך אמון וימליכו עם הארץ את יאשיהו בנו תחתיו׃
