¹I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you to walk worthily of the calling wherewith ye were called,

¹Je vous exhorte donc, moi, le prisonnier dans le Seigneur, à marcher d'une manière digne de la vocation qui vous a été adressée,

¹לכן אזהירכם אני האסור באדון להתהלך כאשר יאתה למשמרתכם אשר נקראתם לה׃

²with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

²en toute humilité et douceur, avec patience, vous supportant les uns les autres avec charité,

²בכל נמיכות וענוה ובארך רוח לשאת איש את רעהו באהבה׃

³giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

³vous efforçant de conserver l'unité de l'esprit par le lien de la paix.

³ושקדו לשמר את אחדות הרוח באגדת השלום׃

⁴[There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling;

⁴Il y a un seul corps et un seul Esprit, comme aussi vous avez été appelés à une seule espérance par votre vocation;

⁴גוף אחד ורוח אחד כאשר גם נקראתם בתקות משמרתכם האחת׃

⁵one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

⁵il y a un seul Seigneur, une seule foi, un seul baptême,

⁵אדון אחד אמונה אחת טבילה אחת׃

⁶one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.

⁶un seul Dieu et Père de tous, qui est au-dessus de tous, et parmi tous, et en tous.

⁶אל ואב אחד לכל שהוא על כל ובכל ובתוך כלכם׃

⁷But unto each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

⁷Mais à chacun de nous la grâce a été donnée selon la mesure du don de Christ.

⁷אבל לכל אחד ואחד ממנו נתן החסד כמדת מתנת המשיח׃

⁸Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, And gave gifts unto men.

⁸C'est pourquoi il est dit: Etant monté en haut, il a emmené des captifs, Et il a fait des dons aux hommes.

⁸על כן הוא אומר עלה למרום שבה שבי ויתן מתנות לאדם׃

⁹(Now this, He ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?

⁹Or, que signifie: Il est monté, sinon qu'il est aussi descendu dans les régions inférieures de la terre?

⁹ועלה שאמר מה הוא אם לא שירד ירד מקדם לתחתיות ארץ׃

¹⁰He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)

¹⁰Celui qui est descendu, c'est le même qui est monté au-dessus de tous les cieux, afin de remplir toutes choses.

¹⁰הירד הוא אשר גם עלה למעלה מכל השמים למען ימלא את הכל׃

¹¹And he gave some [to be] apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

¹¹Et il a donné les uns comme apôtres, les autres comme prophètes, les autres comme évangélistes, les autres comme pasteurs et docteurs,

¹¹והוא נתן את אלה שליחים ואת אלה נביאים ואת אלה מבשרים ואת אלה רעים ומלמדים׃

¹²for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:

¹²pour le perfectionnement des saints en vue de l'oeuvre du ministère et de l'édification du corps de Christ,

¹²להשלים את הקדשים למעשה העבודה לבנין גוף המשיח׃

¹³till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

¹³jusqu'à ce que nous soyons tous parvenus à l'unité de la foi et de la connaissance du Fils de Dieu, à l'état d'homme fait, à la mesure de la stature parfaite de Christ,

¹³עד כי נגיע כלנו לאחדות האמונה ודעת בן האלהים כאיש אחד שלם לשעור קומת מלוא המשיח׃

¹⁴that we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;

¹⁴afin que nous ne soyons plus des enfants, flottants et emportés à tout vent de doctrine, par la tromperie des hommes, par leur ruse dans les moyens de séduction,

¹⁴ולא נהיה עוד ילדים נגרשים ונדפים בכל רוח הלמוד בתרמית בני אדם ומקשותם אשר שתו להתעות׃

¹⁵but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, [even] Christ;

¹⁵mais que, professant la vérité dans la charité, nous croissions à tous égards en celui qui est le chef, Christ.

¹⁵כי אם נדבר האמת באהבה ונגדלה בכל דבר לו למשיח שהוא הראש׃

¹⁶from whom all the body fitly framed and knit together through that which every joint supplieth, according to the working in [due] measure of each several part, maketh the increase of the body unto the building up of itself in love.

¹⁶C'est de lui, et grâce à tous les liens de son assistance, que tout le corps, bien coordonné et formant un solide assemblage, tire son accroissement selon la force qui convient à chacune de ses parties, et s'édifie lui-même dans la charité.

¹⁶אשר ממנו כל הגוף בהיותו מרכב ומדבק בכל חבור השמוש כפי מדת הפעלה הנתונה לכל אבר ואבר ירבה ויגדל להשלמת בנינו באהבה׃

¹⁷This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,

¹⁷Voici donc ce que je dis et ce que je déclare dans le Seigneur, c'est que vous ne devez plus marcher comme les païens, qui marchent selon la vanité de leurs pensées.

¹⁷והנה זאת אני אמר ומעיד באדון כי מעתה לא תלכו עוד כיתר הגוים ההלכים בהבלי שכלם׃

¹⁸being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart;

¹⁸Ils ont l'intelligence obscurcie, ils sont étrangers à la vie de Dieu, à cause de l'ignorance qui est en eux, à cause de l'endurcissement de leur coeur.

¹⁸חשכי הדעת ומוזרים לחיי אלהים מפני אולתם אשר בהם כי טח מהשכיל לבבם׃

¹⁹who being past feeling gave themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

¹⁹Ayant perdu tout sentiment, ils se sont livrés à la dissolution, pour commettre toute espèce d'impureté jointe à la cupidité.

¹⁹אשר השמינו ויתנו את נפשם לזמה לעשות כל תועבה באהבת הבצע׃

²⁰But ye did not so learn Christ;

²⁰Mais vous, ce n'est pas ainsi que vous avez appris Christ,

²⁰ואתם לא כן למדתם את המשיח׃

²¹if so be that ye heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:

²¹si du moins vous l'avez entendu, et si, conformément à la vérité qui est en Jésus, c'est en lui que vous avez été instruits

²¹אם אמנם אתו שמעתם ובו למדתם כפי האמת בישוע׃

²²that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, that waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;

²²à vous dépouiller, eu égard à votre vie passée, du vieil homme qui se corrompt par les convoitises trompeuses,

²²אשר תסורו מדרכיכם הראשנים ותפשטו את האדם הישן הנשחת בתאות התרמית׃

²³and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

²³à être renouvelés dans l'esprit de votre intelligence,

²³ותתחדשו ברוח שכלכם׃

²⁴and put on the new man, that after God hath been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

²⁴et à revêtir l'homme nouveau, créé selon Dieu dans une justice et une sainteté que produit la vérité.

²⁴ותלבשו את האדם החדש הנברא כדמות אלהים בצדקה וקדשת האמת׃

²⁵Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.

²⁵C'est pourquoi, renoncez au mensonge, et que chacun de vous parle selon la vérité à son prochain; car nous sommes membres les uns des autres.

²⁵על כן הסירו מכם את השקר ודברו אמת איש את רעהו כי אברים כלנו יחד איש לאיש׃

²⁶Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

²⁶Si vous vous mettez en colère, ne péchez point; que le soleil ne se couche pas sur votre colère,

²⁶רגזו ואל תחטאו אל תשקע החמה על רגזכם׃

²⁷neither give place to the devil.

²⁷et ne donnez pas accès au diable.

²⁷גם לא תתנו מקום לשטן׃

²⁸Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have whereof to give to him that hath need.

²⁸Que celui qui dérobait ne dérobe plus; mais plutôt qu'il travaille, en faisant de ses mains ce qui est bien, pour avoir de quoi donner à celui qui est dans le besoin.

²⁸מי שגנב אל יסף לגנב כי אם ייגע ובידיו יעשה את הטוב למען יהיה לו לתת לאיש מחסור׃

²⁹Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for edifying as the need may be, that it may give grace to them that hear.

²⁹Qu'il ne sorte de votre bouche aucune parole mauvaise, mais, s'il y a lieu, quelque bonne parole, qui serve à l'édification et communique une grâce à ceux qui l'entendent.

²⁹כל דבר נבול לא יצא מפיכם כי אם הטוב והמועיל לבנות לפי הצרך למען יתן חן לשמעיו׃

³⁰And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.

³⁰N'attristez pas le Saint-Esprit de Dieu, par lequel vous avez été scellés pour le jour de la rédemption.

³⁰ולא תעצבו את רוח הקדש של אלהים אשר נחתמתם בו אל יום הגאלה׃

³¹Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and railing, be put away from you, with all malice:

³¹Que toute amertume, toute animosité, toute colère, toute clameur, toute calomnie, et toute espèce de méchanceté, disparaissent du milieu de vous.

³¹כל מרירות וחמה ורגז וצעקה וגדוף תסירו מכם עם כל הרשעה׃

³²and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.

³²Soyez bons les uns envers les autres, compatissants, vous pardonnant réciproquement, comme Dieu vous a pardonné en Christ.

³²והיו טובים איש אל רעהו ורחמנים וסלחים איש לאחיו כאשר סלח לכם האלהים במשיח׃
