¹Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children;

¹Devenez donc les imitateurs de Dieu, comme des enfants bien-aimés;

¹לכן לכו בדרך האלהים כבנים חביבים׃

²and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell.

²et marchez dans la charité, à l'exemple de Christ, qui nous a aimés, et qui s'est livré lui-même à Dieu pour nous comme une offrande et un sacrifice de bonne odeur.

²והתהלכו באהבה כאשר גם המשיח אהב אתנו והקריב את נפשו בעדנו לקרבן וזבח לאלהים לריח ניחוח׃

³But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as becometh saints;

³Que l'impudicité, qu'aucune espèce d'impureté, et que la cupidité, ne soient pas même nommées parmi vous, ainsi qu'il convient à des saints.

³אבל זנות וכל טמאה ואהבת בצע בל יזכר ביניכם כאשר נאוה לקדשים׃

⁴nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, or jesting, which are not befitting: but rather giving of thanks.

⁴Qu'on n'entende ni paroles déshonnêtes, ni propos insensés, ni plaisanteries, choses qui sont contraires à la bienséance; qu'on entende plutôt des actions de grâces.

⁴גם לא נבול פה ודברי סכלות ולעג אשר לא כהגן כי אם קול תודה׃

⁵For this ye know of a surety, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

⁵Car, sachez-le bien, aucun impudique, ou impur, ou cupide, c'est-à-dire, idolâtre, n'a d'héritage dans le royaume de Christ et de Dieu.

⁵כי זאת ידע תדעו כי כל זנה וטמא ואהב בצע שהוא עבד אלילים אין לו חלק ונחלה במלכות המשיח והאלהים׃

⁶Let no man deceive you with empty words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience.

⁶Que personne ne vous séduise par de vains discours; car c'est à cause de ces choses que la colère de Dieu vient sur les fils de la rébellion.

⁶אל ישיא איש אתכם בדברי ריק כי בגלל אלה חרון אלהים בא על בני המרי׃

⁷Be not ye therefore partakers with them;

⁷N'ayez donc aucune part avec eux.

⁷על כן אל יהי חלקכם עמהם׃

⁸For ye were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord: walk as children of light

⁸Autrefois vous étiez ténèbres, et maintenant vous êtes lumière dans le Seigneur. Marchez comme des enfants de lumière!

⁸כי מלפנים הייתם חשך ועתה הנכם אור באדנינו התהלכו נא כבני אור׃

⁹(for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),

⁹Car le fruit de la lumière consiste en toute sorte de bonté, de justice et de vérité.

⁹כי פרי הרוח כל מעשי חסד וצדק ואמת׃

¹⁰proving what is well-pleasing unto the Lord;

¹⁰Examinez ce qui est agréable au Seigneur;

¹⁰ובחנו מה הוא רצוי בעיני אדנינו׃

¹¹and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them;

¹¹et ne prenez point part aux oeuvres infructueuses des ténèbres, mais plutôt condamnez-les.

¹¹ואל תשתתפו עם מעשי החשך אשר לא יעשו פרי כי אם הוכח תוכיחו אותם׃

¹²for the things which are done by them in secret it is a shame even to speak of.

¹²Car il est honteux de dire ce qu'ils font en secret;

¹²כי מה שהם עשים בסתר חרפה היא אך לספר׃

¹³But all things when they are reproved are made manifest by the light: for everything that is made manifest is light.

¹³mais tout ce qui est condamné est manifesté par la lumière, car tout ce qui est manifesté est lumière.

¹³אבל כל זאת יגלה כשיוכח על ידי האור כי כל הנגלה אור הוא׃

¹⁴Wherefore [he] saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine upon thee.

¹⁴C'est pour cela qu'il est dit: Réveille-toi, toi qui dors, Relève-toi d'entre les morts, Et Christ t'éclairera.

¹⁴על כן הוא אומר עורה הישן וקומה מן המתים ויאר לך המשיח׃

¹⁵Look therefore carefully how ye walk, not as unwise, but as wise;

¹⁵Prenez donc garde de vous conduire avec circonspection, non comme des insensés, mais comme des sages;

¹⁵ועתה ראו והזהרו להתהלך לא ככסילים כי אם כחכמים׃

¹⁶redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

¹⁶rachetez le temps, car les jours sont mauvais.

¹⁶מוקירים העת כי הימים רעים המה׃

¹⁷Wherefore be ye not foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

¹⁷C'est pourquoi ne soyez pas inconsidérés, mais comprenez quelle est la volonté du Seigneur.

¹⁷על כן אל תהיו חסרי דעת כי אם מבינים לדעת מה הוא רצון אדנינו׃

¹⁸And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;

¹⁸Ne vous enivrez pas de vin: c'est de la débauche. Soyez, au contraire, remplis de l'Esprit;

¹⁸ואל תשתכרו מיין המביא לידי פריצות כי אם המלאו ברוח׃

¹⁹speaking one to another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;

¹⁹entretenez-vous par des psaumes, par des hymnes, et par des cantiques spirituels, chantant et célébrant de tout votre coeur les louanges du Seigneur;

¹⁹ושיחו איש לרעהו בתהלות ותשבחות ושירות רוחניות שירו וזמרו לאדני בלבבכם׃

²⁰giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;

²⁰rendez continuellement grâces pour toutes choses à Dieu le Père, au nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ,

²⁰והודו בכל עת על הכל לאלהים אבינו בשם אדנינו ישוע המשיח׃

²¹subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ.

²¹vous soumettant les uns aux autres dans la crainte de Christ.

²¹הכנעו איש לאחיו ביראת אלהים׃

²²Wives, [be in subjection] unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

²²Femmes, soyez soumises à vos maris, comme au Seigneur;

²²הנשים הכנענה לבעליכן כמו לאדנינו׃

²³For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the church, [being] himself the saviour of the body.

²³car le mari est le chef de la femme, comme Christ est le chef de l'Eglise, qui est son corps, et dont il est le Sauveur.

²³כי האיש הוא ראש האשה כאשר המשיח הוא ראש העדה והוא מושיע של הגוף׃

²⁴But as the church is subject to Christ, so [let] the wives also [be] to their husbands in everything.

²⁴Or, de même que l'Eglise est soumise à Christ, les femmes aussi doivent l'être à leurs maris en toutes choses.

²⁴אבל כאשר תכנע העדה למשיח ככה גם הנשים לבעליהן בכל דבר׃

²⁵Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;

²⁵Maris, aimez vos femmes, comme Christ a aimé l'Eglise, et s'est livré lui-même pour elle,

²⁵האנשים אהבו את נשיכם כאשר גם המשיח אהב את העדה ויתן את נפשו בעדה׃

²⁶that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,

²⁶afin de la sanctifier par la parole, après l'avoir purifiée par le baptême d'eau,

²⁶למען קדשה בדברו אחרי אשר טהרה ברחיצת המים׃

²⁷that he might present the church to himself a glorious [church], not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

²⁷afin de faire paraître devant lui cette Eglise glorieuse, sans tache, ni ride, ni rien de semblable, mais sainte et irrépréhensible.

²⁷להקימה בכבוד לו לעדה אשר אין בה כתם וקמט וכדומה כי אם למען תהיה קדושה ותמימה׃

²⁸Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his own wife loveth himself:

²⁸C'est ainsi que les maris doivent aimer leurs femmes comme leurs propres corps. Celui qui aime sa femme s'aime lui-même.

²⁸כן האנשים חיבים לאהב את נשיהם כגופם כי האהב את אשתו אהב את עצמו׃

²⁹for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as Christ also the church;

²⁹Car jamais personne n'a haï sa propre chair; mais il la nourrit et en prend soin, comme Christ le fait pour l'Eglise,

²⁹כי מעולם לא שנא איש את בשרו כי אם זן ומכלכל אתו כאשר גם האדון את עדתו׃

³⁰because we are members of his body.

³⁰parce que nous sommes membres de son corps.

³⁰כי אברי גופו אנחנו משברו ומעצמיו׃

³¹For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh.

³¹C'est pourquoi l'homme quittera son père et sa mère, et s'attachera à sa femme, et les deux deviendront une seule chair.

³¹על כן יעזב איש את אביו ואת אמו ודבק באשתו והיו שניהם לבשר אחד׃

³²This mystery is great: but I speak in regard of Christ and of the church.

³²Ce mystère est grand; je dis cela par rapport à Christ et à l'Eglise.

³²גדול הסוד הזה ואני מפרש אתו על המשיח ועל עדתו׃

³³Nevertheless do ye also severally love each one his own wife even as himself; and [let] the wife [see] that she fear her husband.

³³Du reste, que chacun de vous aime sa femme comme lui-même, et que la femme respecte son mari.

³³ואולם גם אתם כל איש מכם יאהב את אשתו כנפשו והאשה היא תזהר ותירא את בעלה׃
