¹Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

¹Enfants, obéissez à vos parents, selon le Seigneur, car cela est juste.

¹שמעו בנים אל הוריכם באדנינו כי ארח ישר הוא׃

²Honor thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise),

²Honore ton père et ta mère c'est le premier commandement avec une promesse,

²כבד את אביך ואת אמך זאת היא המצוה הראשונה אשר לה ההבטחה׃

³that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

³afin que tu sois heureux et que tu vives longtemps sur la terre.

³למען ייטב לך ולמען יאריכן ימיך על האדמה׃

⁴And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in the chastening and admonition of the Lord.

⁴Et vous, pères, n'irritez pas vos enfants, mais élevez-les en les corrigeant et en les instruisant selon le Seigneur.

⁴ואתם האבות אל תכעיסו את בניכם אך גדלום במוסר אדנינו ובתוכחתו׃

⁵Servants, be obedient unto them that according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

⁵Serviteurs, obéissez à vos maîtres selon la chair, avec crainte et tremblement, dans la simplicité de votre coeur, comme à Christ,

⁵שמעו עבדים אל אדניכם לפי הבשר ביראה ורתת ובתם לבבכם כמו למשיח׃

⁶not in the way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers; but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

⁶non pas seulement sous leurs yeux, comme pour plaire aux hommes, mais comme des serviteurs de Christ, qui font de bon coeur la volonté de Dieu.

⁶לא בעבדת מראה העין כמבקשי חן בני אדם כי אם כעבדי המשיח עשים רצון האלהים בכל נפשם׃

⁷with good will doing service, as unto the Lord, and not unto men:

⁷Servez-les avec empressement, comme servant le Seigneur et non des hommes,

⁷ועבדים בנפש חפצה את האדון ולא בני אדם׃

⁸knowing that whatsoever good thing each one doeth, the same shall he receive again from the Lord, whether [he be] bond or free.

⁸sachant que chacun, soit esclave, soit libre, recevra du Seigneur selon ce qu'il aura fait de bien.

⁸וידעתם כי כל דבר טוב אשר עשה האדם ישלמנו לו אדנינו אם עבד הוא או בן חורין׃

⁹And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, and forbear threatening: knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no respect of persons with him.

⁹Et vous, maîtres, agissez de même à leur égard, et abstenez-vous de menaces, sachant que leur maître et le vôtre est dans les cieux, et que devant lui il n'y a point d'acception de personnes.

⁹ואתם האדנים ככה תעשו גם להם חדלו מגער בם וידעתם כי גם עליכם יש אדון בשמים ואין לפניו משא פנים׃

¹⁰Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.

¹⁰Au reste, fortifiez-vous dans le Seigneur, et par sa force toute-puissante.

¹⁰סוף דבר אחי חזקו באדנינו ובעז גבורתו׃

¹¹Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

¹¹Revêtez-vous de toutes les armes de Dieu, afin de pouvoir tenir ferme contre les ruses du diable.

¹¹לבשו כלי נשק אלהים למען תוכלו עמד נגד נכלי השטן׃

¹²For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual [hosts] of wickedness in the heavenly [places].

¹²Car nous n'avons pas à lutter contre la chair et le sang, mais contre les dominations, contre les autorités, contre les princes de ce monde de ténèbres, contre les esprits méchants dans les lieux célestes.

¹²כי לא עם בשר ודם מלחמתנו כי עם שרים ושליטים עם המשלים בחשכת העולם הזה עם הרוחות הרעות אשר במרומים׃

¹³Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.

¹³C'est pourquoi, prenez toutes les armes de Dieu, afin de pouvoir résister dans le mauvais jour, et tenir ferme après avoir tout surmonté.

¹³על כן אחזו בכלי נשק אלהים למען תוכלו לקום ביום הרע ולמלא צבאכם ולעמוד׃

¹⁴Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

¹⁴Tenez donc ferme: ayez à vos reins la vérité pour ceinture; revêtez la cuirasse de la justice;

¹⁴עמדו נא חגורי מתנים באמת ומלבשים בשריון הצדק׃

¹⁵and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

¹⁵mettez pour chaussure à vos pieds le zèle que donne l'Evangile de paix;

¹⁵ורגליכם מנעלות להיותכם מוכנים לבשורת השלום׃

¹⁶withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil [one].

¹⁶prenez par-dessus tout cela le bouclier de la foi, avec lequel vous pourrez éteindre tous les traits enflammés du malin;

¹⁶ועל כל אלה תפשו את מגן האמונה אשר תוכלו לכבות בו את חצי הרשע הבערים׃

¹⁷And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

¹⁷prenez aussi le casque du salut, et l'épée de l'Esprit, qui est la parole de Dieu.

¹⁷וקחו את כובע הישועה וחרב הרוח שהיא דבר האלהים׃

¹⁸with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,

¹⁸Faites en tout temps par l'Esprit toutes sortes de prières et de supplications. Veillez à cela avec une entière persévérance, et priez pour tous les saints.

¹⁸והתפללו תמיד בכל עת בתפלה ותחנונים ברוח ושקדו והתאמצו על זאת להעתיר תמיד בעד כל הקדשים׃

¹⁹And on my behalf, that utterance may be given unto me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,

¹⁹Priez pour moi, afin qu'il me soit donné, quand j'ouvre la bouche, de faire connaître hardiment et librement le mystère de l'Evangile,

¹⁹וגם בעדי למען ינתן לי הדבר בפתחי פי להגיד בבטחון את סוד הבשורה אשר אנכי ציר לה במוסרות׃

²⁰for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

²⁰pour lequel je suis ambassadeur dans les chaînes, et que j'en parle avec assurance comme je dois en parler.

²⁰למען אדבר בה בבטחה כאשר מטל עלי לדבר׃

²¹But that ye also may know my affairs, how I do, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:

²¹Afin que vous aussi, vous sachiez ce qui me concerne, ce que je fais, Tychique, le bien-aimé frère et fidèle ministre dans le Seigneur, vous informera de tout.

²¹ולמען אשר תדעו גם אתם את קרתי ואת מעשי הנה את הכל יודיע אתכם טוכיקוס האח החביב והמשרת הנאמן באדנינו׃

²²whom I have sent unto you for this very purpose, that ye may know our state, and that he may comfort your hearts.

²²Je l'envoie exprès vers vous, pour que vous connaissiez notre situation, et pour qu'il console vos coeurs.

²²אשר לזאת שלחתיהו אליכם למען תדעו את קרתינו ולמען ינחם את לבבכם׃

²³Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

²³Que la paix et la charité avec la foi soient données aux frères de la part de Dieu le Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ!

²³השלום לאחים והאהבה עם האמונה מאת האלהים האב ומאת האדון ישוע המשיח׃

²⁴Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ with [a love] incorruptible.

²⁴Que la grâce soit avec tous ceux qui aiment notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ d'un amour inaltérable!

²⁴החסד עם כל האהבים את אדנינו ישוע המשיח באהבה אשר לא תכלה אמן׃
