1And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
1Toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël partit d'Elim, et ils arrivèrent au désert de Sin, qui est entre Elim et Sinaï, le quinzième jour du second mois après leur sortie du pays d'Egypte.
1ויסעו מאילם ויבאו כל עדת בני ישראל אל מדבר סין אשר בין אילם ובין סיני בחמשה עשר יום לחדש השני לצאתם מארץ מצרים׃
2And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness:
2Et toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël murmura dans le désert contre Moïse et Aaron.
2וילינו כל עדת בני ישראל על משה ועל אהרן במדבר׃
3and the children of Israel said unto them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
3Les enfants d'Israël leur dirent: Que ne sommes-nous morts par la main de l'Eternel dans le pays d'Egypte, quand nous étions assis près des pots de viande, quand nous mangions du pain à satiété? car vous nous avez menés dans ce désert pour faire mourir de faim toute cette multitude.
3ויאמרו אלהם בני ישראל מי יתן מותנו ביד יהוה בארץ מצרים בשבתנו על סיר הבשר באכלנו לחם לשבע כי הוצאתם אתנו אל המדבר הזה להמית את כל הקהל הזה ברעב׃
4Then said Jehovah unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.
4L'Eternel dit à Moïse: Voici, je ferai pleuvoir pour vous du pain, du haut des cieux. Le peuple sortira, et en ramassera, jour par jour, la quantité nécessaire, afin que je le mette à l'épreuve, et que je voie s'il marchera, ou non, selon ma loi.
4ויאמר יהוה אל משה הנני ממטיר לכם לחם מן השמים ויצא העם ולקטו דבר יום ביומו למען אנסנו הילך בתורתי אם לא׃
5And it shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
5Le sixième jour, lorsqu'ils prépareront ce qu'ils auront apporté, il s'en trouvera le double de ce qu'ils ramasseront jour par jour.
5והיה ביום הששי והכינו את אשר יביאו והיה משנה על אשר ילקטו יום יום׃
6And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that Jehovah hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;
6Moïse et Aaron dirent à tous les enfants d'Israël: Ce soir, vous comprendrez que c'est l'Eternel qui vous a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte.
6ויאמר משה ואהרן אל כל בני ישראל ערב וידעתם כי יהוה הוציא אתכם מארץ מצרים׃
7and in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of Jehovah; for that he heareth your murmurings against Jehovah: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?
7Et, au matin, vous verrez la gloire de l'Eternel, parce qu'il a entendu vos murmures contre l'Eternel; car que sommes-nous, pour que vous murmuriez contre nous?
7ובקר וראיתם את כבוד יהוה בשמעו את תלנתיכם על יהוה ונחנו מה כי תלונו עלינו׃
8And Moses said, [This shall be], when Jehovah shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that Jehovah heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah.
8Moïse dit: L'Eternel vous donnera ce soir de la viande à manger, et au matin du pain à satiété, parce que l'Eternel a entendu les murmures que vous avez proférés contre lui; car que sommes-nous? Ce n'est pas contre nous que sont vos murmures, c'est contre l'Eternel.
8ויאמר משה בתת יהוה לכם בערב בשר לאכל ולחם בבקר לשבע בשמע יהוה את תלנתיכם אשר אתם מלינם עליו ונחנו מה לא עלינו תלנתיכם כי על יהוה׃
9And Moses said unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before Jehovah; for he hath heard your murmurings.
9Moïse dit à Aaron: Dis à toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël: Approchez-vous devant l'Eternel, car il a entendu vos murmures.
9ויאמר משה אל אהרן אמר אל כל עדת בני ישראל קרבו לפני יהוה כי שמע את תלנתיכם׃
10And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of Jehovah appeared in the cloud.
10Et tandis qu'Aaron parlait à toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël, ils se tournèrent du côté du désert, et voici, la gloire de l'Eternel parut dans la nuée.
10ויהי כדבר אהרן אל כל עדת בני ישראל ויפנו אל המדבר והנה כבוד יהוה נראה בענן׃
11And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
11L'Eternel, s'adressant à Moïse, dit:
11וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר׃
12I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah your God.
12J'ai entendu les murmures des enfants d'Israël. Dis-leur: Entre les deux soirs vous mangerez de la viande, et au matin vous vous rassasierez de pain; et vous saurez que je suis l'Eternel, votre Dieu.
12שמעתי את תלונת בני ישראל דבר אלהם לאמר בין הערבים תאכלו בשר ובבקר תשבעו לחם וידעתם כי אני יהוה אלהיכם׃
13And it came to pass at even, that the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the camp.
13Le soir, il survint des cailles qui couvrirent le camp; et, au matin, il y eut une couche de rosée autour du camp.
13ויהי בערב ותעל השלו ותכס את המחנה ובבקר היתה שכבת הטל סביב למחנה׃
14And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness a small round thing, small as the hoar-frost on the ground.
14Quand cette rosée fut dissipée, il y avait à la surface du désert quelque chose de menu comme des grains, quelque chose de menu comme la gelée blanche sur la terre.
14ותעל שכבת הטל והנה על פני המדבר דק מחספס דק ככפר על הארץ׃
15And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, What is it? For they knew not what it was. And Moses said unto them, It is the bread which Jehovah hath given you to eat.
15Les enfants d'Israël regardèrent et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Qu'est-ce que cela? car ils ne savaient pas ce que c'était. Moïse leur dit: C'est le pain que L'Eternel vous donne pour nourriture.
15ויראו בני ישראל ויאמרו איש אל אחיו מן הוא כי לא ידעו מה הוא ויאמר משה אלהם הוא הלחם אשר נתן יהוה לכם לאכלה׃
16This is the thing which Jehovah hath commanded, Gather ye of it every man according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, shall ye take it, every man for them that are in his tent.
16Voici ce que l'Eternel a ordonné: Que chacun de vous en ramasse ce qu'il faut pour sa nourriture, un omer par tête, suivant le nombre de vos personnes; chacun en prendra pour ceux qui sont dans sa tente.
16זה הדבר אשר צוה יהוה לקטו ממנו איש לפי אכלו עמר לגלגלת מספר נפשתיכם איש לאשר באהלו תקחו׃
17And the children of Israel did so, and gathered some more, some less.
17Les Israélites firent ainsi; et ils en ramassèrent les uns plus, les autres moins.
17ויעשו כן בני ישראל וילקטו המרבה והממעיט׃
18And when they measured it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.
18On mesurait ensuite avec l'omer; celui qui avait ramassé plus n'avait rien de trop, et celui qui avait ramassé moins n'en manquait pas. Chacun ramassait ce qu'il fallait pour sa nourriture.
18וימדו בעמר ולא העדיף המרבה והממעיט לא החסיר איש לפי אכלו לקטו׃
19And Moses said unto them, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
19Moïse leur dit: Que personne n'en laisse jusqu'au matin.
19ויאמר משה אלהם איש אל יותר ממנו עד בקר׃
20Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and became foul: and Moses was wroth with them.
20Ils n'écoutèrent pas Moïse, et il y eut des gens qui en laissèrent jusqu'au matin; mais il s'y mit des vers, et cela devint infect. Moïse fut irrité contre ces gens.
20ולא שמעו אל משה ויותרו אנשים ממנו עד בקר וירם תולעים ויבאש ויקצף עלהם משה׃
21And they gathered it morning by morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.
21Tous les matins, chacun ramassait ce qu'il fallait pour sa nourriture; et quand venait la chaleur du soleil, cela fondait.
21וילקטו אתו בבקר בבקר איש כפי אכלו וחם השמש ונמס׃
22And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
22Le sixième jour, ils ramassèrent une quantité double de nourriture, deux omers pour chacun. Tous les principaux de l'assemblée vinrent le rapporter à Moïse.
22ויהי ביום הששי לקטו לחם משנה שני העמר לאחד ויבאו כל נשיאי העדה ויגידו למשה׃
23And he said unto them, This is that which Jehovah hath spoken, Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy sabbath unto Jehovah: bake that which ye will bake, and boil that which ye will boil; and all that remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
23Et Moïse leur dit: C'est ce que l'Eternel a ordonné. Demain est le jour du repos, le sabbat consacré à l'Eternel; faites cuire ce que vous avez à faire cuire, faites bouillir ce que vous avez à faire bouillir, et mettez en réserve jusqu'au matin tout ce qui restera.
23ויאמר אלהם הוא אשר דבר יהוה שבתון שבת קדש ליהוה מחר את אשר תאפו אפו ואת אשר תבשלו בשלו ואת כל העדף הניחו לכם למשמרת עד הבקר׃
24And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not become foul, neither was there any worm therein.
24Ils le laissèrent jusqu'au matin, comme Moïse l'avait ordonné; et cela ne devint point infect, et il ne s'y mit point de vers.
24ויניחו אתו עד הבקר כאשר צוה משה ולא הבאיש ורמה לא היתה בו׃
25And Moses said, Eat that to-day; for to-day is a sabbath unto Jehovah: to-day ye shall not find it in the field.
25Moïse dit: Mangez-le aujourd'hui, car c'est le jour du sabbat; aujourd'hui vous n'en trouverez point dans la campagne.
25ויאמר משה אכלהו היום כי שבת היום ליהוה היום לא תמצאהו בשדה׃
26Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
26Pendant six jours vous en ramasserez; mais le septième jour, qui est le sabbat, il n'y en aura point.
26ששת ימים תלקטהו וביום השביעי שבת לא יהיה בו׃
27And it came to pass on the seventh day, that there went out some of the people to gather, and they found none.
27Le septième jour, quelques-uns du peuple sortirent pour en ramasser, et ils n'en trouvèrent point.
27ויהי ביום השביעי יצאו מן העם ללקט ולא מצאו׃
28And Jehovah said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
28Alors l'Eternel dit à Moïse: Jusques à quand refuserez-vous d'observer mes commandements et mes lois?
28ויאמר יהוה אל משה עד אנה מאנתם לשמר מצותי ותורתי׃
29See, for that Jehovah hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
29Considérez que l'Eternel vous a donné le sabbat; c'est pourquoi il vous donne au sixième jour de la nourriture pour deux jours. Que chacun reste à sa place, et que personne ne sorte du lieu où il est au septième jour.
29ראו כי יהוה נתן לכם השבת על כן הוא נתן לכם ביום הששי לחם יומים שבו איש תחתיו אל יצא איש ממקמו ביום השביעי׃
30So the people rested on the seventh day.
30Et le peuple se reposa le septième jour.
30וישבתו העם ביום השבעי׃
31And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers [made] with honey.
31La maison d'Israël donna à cette nourriture le nom de manne. Elle ressemblait à de la graine de coriandre; elle était blanche, et avait le goût d'un gâteau au miel.
31ויקראו בית ישראל את שמו מן והוא כזרע גד לבן וטעמו כצפיחת בדבש׃
32And Moses said, This is the thing which Jehovah hath commanded, Let an omerful of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread wherewith I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
32Moïse dit: Voici ce que l'Eternel a ordonné: Qu'un omer rempli de manne soit conservé pour vos descendants, afin qu'ils voient le pain que je vous ai fait manger dans le désert, après vous avoir fait sortir du pays d'Egypte.
32ויאמר משה זה הדבר אשר צוה יהוה מלא העמר ממנו למשמרת לדרתיכם למען יראו את הלחם אשר האכלתי אתכם במדבר בהוציאי אתכם מארץ מצרים׃
33And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omerful of manna therein, and lay it up before Jehovah, to be kept throughout your generations.
33Et Moïse dit à Aaron: Prends un vase, mets-y de la manne plein un omer, et dépose-le devant l'Eternel, afin qu'il soit conservé pour vos descendants.
33ויאמר משה אל אהרן קח צנצנת אחת ותן שמה מלא העמר מן והנח אתו לפני יהוה למשמרת לדרתיכם׃
34As Jehovah commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
34Suivant l'ordre donné par l'Eternel à Moïse, Aaron le déposa devant le témoignage, afin qu'il fût conservé.
34כאשר צוה יהוה אל משה ויניחהו אהרן לפני העדת למשמרת׃
35And the children of Israel did eat the manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat the manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.
35Les enfants d'Israël mangèrent la manne pendant quarante ans, jusqu'à leur arrivée dans un pays habité; ils mangèrent la manne jusqu'à leur arrivée aux frontières du pays de Canaan.
35ובני ישראל אכלו את המן ארבעים שנה עד באם אל ארץ נושבת את המן אכלו עד באם אל קצה ארץ כנען׃
36Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah.
36L'omer est la dixième partie de l'épha.
36והעמר עשרית האיפה הוא׃
