¹In the seventh [month], in the one and twentieth [day] of the month, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet, saying,

¹Le vingt et unième jour du septième mois, la parole de l'Eternel se révéla par Aggée, le prophète, en ces mots:

¹בשביעי בעשרים ואחד לחדש היה דבר יהוה ביד חגי הנביא לאמר׃

²Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

²Parle à Zorobabel, fils de Schealthiel, gouverneur de Juda, à Josué, fils de Jotsadak, le souverain sacrificateur, et au reste du peuple, et dis-leur:

²אמר נא אל זרבבל בן שלתיאל פחת יהודה ואל יהושע בן יהוצדק הכהן הגדול ואל שארית העם לאמר׃

³Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes as nothing?

³Quel est parmi vous le survivant Qui ait vu cette maison dans sa gloire première? Et comment la voyez-vous maintenant? Telle qu'elle est, ne paraît-elle pas comme rien à vos yeux?

³מי בכם הנשאר אשר ראה את הבית הזה בכבודו הראשון ומה אתם ראים אתו עתה הלוא כמהו כאין בעיניכם׃

⁴Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith Jehovah; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith Jehovah, and work: for I am with you, saith Jehovah of hosts,

⁴Maintenant fortifie-toi, Zorobabel! dit l'Eternel. Fortifie-toi, Josué, fils de Jotsadak, souverain sacrificateur! Fortifie-toi, peuple entier du pays! dit l'Eternel. Et travaillez! Car je suis avec vous, Dit l'Eternel des armées.

⁴ועתה חזק זרבבל נאם יהוה וחזק יהושע בן יהוצדק הכהן הגדול וחזק כל עם הארץ נאם יהוה ועשו כי אני אתכם נאם יהוה צבאות׃

⁵[according to] the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, and my Spirit abode among you: fear ye not.

⁵Je reste fidèle à l'alliance que j'ai faite avec vous Quand vous sortîtes de l'Egypte, Et mon esprit est au milieu de vous; Ne craignez pas!

⁵את הדבר אשר כרתי אתכם בצאתכם ממצרים ורוחי עמדת בתוככם אל תיראו׃

⁶For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

⁶Car ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Encore un peu de temps, Et j'ébranlerai les cieux et la terre, La mer et le sec;

⁶כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות עוד אחת מעט היא ואני מרעיש את השמים ואת הארץ ואת הים ואת החרבה׃

⁷and I will shake all nations; and the precious things of all nations shall come; and I will fill this house with glory, saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁷J'ébranlerai toutes les nations; Les trésors de toutes les nations viendront, Et je remplirai de gloire cette maison, Dit l'Eternel des armées.

⁷והרעשתי את כל הגוים ובאו חמדת כל הגוים ומלאתי את הבית הזה כבוד אמר יהוה צבאות׃

⁸The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁸L'argent est à moi, et l'or est à moi, Dit l'Eternel des armées.

⁸לי הכסף ולי הזהב נאם יהוה צבאות׃

⁹The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, saith Jehovah of hosts; and in this place will I give peace, saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁹La gloire de cette dernière maison sera plus grande Que celle de la première, Dit l'Eternel des armées; Et c'est dans ce lieu que je donnerai la paix, Dit l'Eternel des armées.

⁹גדול יהיה כבוד הבית הזה האחרון מן הראשון אמר יהוה צבאות ובמקום הזה אתן שלום נאם יהוה צבאות׃

¹⁰In the four and twentieth [day] of the ninth [month], in the second year of Darius, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet, saying,

¹⁰le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, la seconde année de Darius, la parole de l'Eternel se révéla par Aggée, le prophète, en ces mots:

¹⁰בעשרים וארבעה לתשיעי בשנת שתים לדריוש היה דבר יהוה אל חגי הנביא לאמר׃

¹¹Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

¹¹Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Propose aux sacrificateurs cette question sur la loi:

¹¹כה אמר יהוה צבאות שאל נא את הכהנים תורה לאמר׃

¹²If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it become holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

¹²Si quelqu'un porte dans le pan de son vêtement de la chair consacrée, et qu'il touche avec son vêtement du pain, des mets, du vin, de l'huile, ou un aliment quelconque, ces choses seront-elles sanctifiées? Les sacrificateurs répondirent: Non!

¹²הן ישא איש בשר קדש בכנף בגדו ונגע בכנפו אל הלחם ואל הנזיד ואל היין ואל שמן ואל כל מאכל היקדש ויענו הכהנים ויאמרו לא׃

¹³Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by reason of a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

¹³Et Aggée dit: Si quelqu'un souillé par le contact d'un cadavre touche toutes ces choses, seront-elles souillées? Les sacrificateurs répondirent: Elles seront souillées.

¹³ויאמר חגי אם יגע טמא נפש בכל אלה היטמא ויענו הכהנים ויאמרו יטמא׃

¹⁴Then answered Haggai and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith Jehovah; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

¹⁴Alors Aggée, reprenant la parole, dit: Tel est ce peuple, telle est cette nation devant moi, dit l'Eternel, Telles sont toutes les oeuvres de leurs mains; Ce qu'ils m'offrent là est souillé.

¹⁴ויען חגי ויאמר כן העם הזה וכן הגוי הזה לפני נאם יהוה וכן כל מעשה ידיהם ואשר יקריבו שם טמא הוא׃

¹⁵And now, I pray you, consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of Jehovah.

¹⁵Considérez donc attentivement Ce qui s'est passé jusqu'à ce jour, Avant qu'on eût mis pierre sur pierre au temple de l'Eternel!

¹⁵ועתה שימו נא לבבכם מן היום הזה ומעלה מטרם שום אבן אל אבן בהיכל יהוה׃

¹⁶Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty [measures], there were but ten; when one came to the winevat to draw out fifty [vessels], there were but twenty.

¹⁶Alors, quand on venait à un tas de vingt mesures, Il n'y en avait que dix; Quand on venait à la cuve pour puiser cinquante mesures, Il n'y en avait que vingt.

¹⁶מהיותם בא אל ערמת עשרים והיתה עשרה בא אל היקב לחשף חמשים פורה והיתה עשרים׃

¹⁷I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the work of your hands; yet ye [turned] not to me, saith Jehovah.

¹⁷Je vous ai frappés par la rouille et par la nielle, et par la grêle; J'ai frappé tout le travail de vos mains. Malgré cela, vous n'êtes pas revenus à moi, dit l'Eternel.

¹⁷הכיתי אתכם בשדפון ובירקון ובברד את כל מעשה ידיכם ואין אתכם אלי נאם יהוה׃

¹⁸Consider, I pray you, from this day and backward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth [month], since the day that the foundation of Jehovah's temple was laid, consider it.

¹⁸Considérez attentivement Ce qui s'est passé jusqu'à ce jour, Jusqu'au vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, Depuis le jour où le temple de l'Eternel a été fondé, Considérez-le attentivement!

¹⁸שימו נא לבבכם מן היום הזה ומעלה מיום עשרים וארבעה לתשיעי למן היום אשר יסד היכל יהוה שימו לבבכם׃

¹⁹Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, the vine, and the fig-tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive-tree have not brought forth; from this day will I bless [you].

¹⁹Y avait-il encore de la semence dans les greniers? Même la vigne, le figuier, le grenadier et l'olivier, N'ont rien rapporté. Mais dès ce jour je répandrai ma bénédiction.

¹⁹העוד הזרע במגורה ועד הגפן והתאנה והרמון ועץ הזית לא נשא מן היום הזה אברך׃

²⁰And the word of Jehovah came the second time unto Haggai in the four and twentieth [day] of the month, saying,

²⁰La parole de l'Eternel fut adressée pour la seconde fois à Aggée, le vingt-quatrième jour du mois, en ces mots:

²⁰ויהי דבר יהוה שנית אל חגי בעשרים וארבעה לחדש לאמר׃

²¹Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

²¹Parle à Zorobabel, gouverneur de Juda, et dis: J'ébranlerai les cieux et la terre;

²¹אמר אל זרבבל פחת יהודה לאמר אני מרעיש את השמים ואת הארץ׃

²²and I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

²²Je renverserai le trône des royaumes, Je détruirai la force des royaumes des nations, Je renverserai les chars et ceux qui les montent; Les chevaux et leurs cavaliers seront abattus, L'un par l'épée de l'autre.

²²והפכתי כסא ממלכות והשמדתי חזק ממלכות הגוים והפכתי מרכבה ורכביה וירדו סוסים ורכביהם איש בחרב אחיו׃

²³In that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith Jehovah, and will make thee as a signet; for I have chosen thee, saith Jehovah of hosts.

²³En ce jour-là, dit l'Eternel des armées, Je te prendrai, Zorobabel, fils de Schealthiel, Mon serviteur, dit l'Eternel, Et je te garderai comme un sceau; Car je t'ai choisi, dit l'Eternel des armées.

²³ביום ההוא נאם יהוה צבאות אקחך זרבבל בן שאלתיאל עבדי נאם יהוה ושמתיך כחותם כי בך בחרתי נאם יהוה צבאות׃
