1When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
1Quand Israël était jeune, je l'aimais, Et j'appelai mon fils hors d'Egypte.
1כי נער ישראל ואהבהו וממצרים קראתי לבני׃
2The more [the prophets] called them, the more they went from them: they sacrificed unto the Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.
2Mais ils se sont éloignés de ceux qui les appelaient; Ils ont sacrifié aux Baals, Et offert de l'encens aux idoles.
2קראו להם כן הלכו מפניהם לבעלים יזבחו ולפסלים יקטרון׃
3Yet I taught Ephraim to walk; I took them on my arms; but they knew not that I healed them.
3C'est moi qui guidai les pas d'Ephraïm, Le soutenant par ses bras; Et ils n'ont pas vu que je les guérissais.
3ואנכי תרגלתי לאפרים קחם על זרועתיו ולא ידעו כי רפאתים׃
4I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love; and I was to them as they that lift up the yoke on their jaws; and I laid food before them.
4Je les tirai avec des liens d'humanité, avec des cordages d'amour, Je fus pour eux comme celui qui aurait relâché le joug près de leur bouche, Et je leur présentai de la nourriture.
4בחבלי אדם אמשכם בעבתות אהבה ואהיה להם כמרימי על על לחיהם ואט אליו אוכיל׃
5They shall not return into the land of Egypt; but the Assyrian shall be their king, because they refused to return [to me].
5Ils ne retourneront pas au pays d'Egypte; Mais l'Assyrien sera leur roi, Parce qu'ils ont refusé de revenir à moi.
5לא ישוב אל ארץ מצרים ואשור הוא מלכו כי מאנו לשוב׃
6And the sword shall fall upon their cities, and shall consume their bars, and devour [them], because of their own counsels.
6L'épée fondra sur leurs villes, Anéantira, dévorera leurs soutiens, A cause des desseins qu'ils ont eus.
6וחלה חרב בעריו וכלתה בדיו ואכלה ממעצותיהם׃
7And my people are bent on backsliding from me: though they call them to [him that is] on high, none at all will exalt [him].
7Mon peuple est enclin à s'éloigner de moi; On les rappelle vers le Très-Haut, Mais aucun d'eux ne l'exalte.
7ועמי תלואים למשובתי ואל על יקראהו יחד לא ירומם׃
8How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? [how] shall I cast thee off, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? [how] shall I set thee as Zeboiim? my heart is turned within me, my compassions are kindled together.
8Que ferai-je de toi, Ephraïm? Dois-je te livrer, Israël? Te traiterai-je comme Adma? Te rendrai-je semblable à Tseboïm? Mon coeur s'agite au dedans de moi, Toutes mes compassions sont émues.
8איך אתנך אפרים אמגנך ישראל איך אתנך כאדמה אשימך כצבאים נהפך עלי לבי יחד נכמרו נחומי׃
9I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee; and I will not come in wrath.
9Je n'agirai pas selon mon ardente colère, Je renonce à détruire Ephraïm; Car je suis Dieu, et non pas un homme, Je suis le Saint au milieu de toi; Je ne viendrai pas avec colère.
9לא אעשה חרון אפי לא אשוב לשחת אפרים כי אל אנכי ולא איש בקרבך קדוש ולא אבוא בעיר׃
10They shall walk after Jehovah, who will roar like a lion; for he will roar, and the children shall come trembling from the west.
10Ils suivront l'Eternel, qui rugira comme un lion, Car il rugira, et les enfants accourront de la mer.
10אחרי יהוה ילכו כאריה ישאג כי הוא ישאג ויחרדו בנים מים׃
11They shall come trembling as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will make them to dwell in their houses, saith Jehovah.
11Ils accourront de l'Egypte, comme un oiseau, Et du pays d'Assyrie, comme une colombe. Et je les ferai habiter dans leurs maisons, dit l'Eternel.
11יחרדו כצפור ממצרים וכיונה מארץ אשור והושבתים על בתיהם נאם יהוה׃
12Ephraim compasseth me about with falsehood, and the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the Holy One.
12Ephraïm m'entoure de mensonge, Et la maison d'Israël de tromperie; Juda est encore sans frein vis-à-vis de Dieu, Vis-à-vis du Saint fidèle.
12סבבני בכחש אפרים ובמרמה בית ישראל ויהודה עד רד עם אל ועם קדושים נאמן׃
