1Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek Jehovah!
1Malheur à ceux qui descendent en Egypte pour avoir du secours, Qui s'appuient sur des chevaux, Et se fient à la multitude des chars et à la force des cavaliers, Mais qui ne regardent pas vers le Saint d'Israël, Et ne recherchent pas l'Eternel!
1הוי הירדים מצרים לעזרה על סוסים ישענו ויבטחו על רכב כי רב ועל פרשים כי עצמו מאד ולא שעו על קדוש ישראל ואת יהוה לא דרשו׃
2Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words, but will arise against the house of the evil-doers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.
2Lui aussi, cependant, il est sage, il fait venir le malheur, Et ne retire point ses paroles; Il s'élève contre la maison des méchants, Et contre le secours de ceux qui commettent l'iniquité.
2וגם הוא חכם ויבא רע ואת דבריו לא הסיר וקם על בית מרעים ועל עזרת פעלי און׃
3Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit: and when Jehovah shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall stumble, and he that is helped shall fall, and they all shall be consumed together.
3L'Egyptien est homme et non dieu; Ses chevaux sont chair et non esprit. Quand l'Eternel étendra sa main, Le protecteur chancellera, le protégé tombera, Et tous ensemble ils périront.
3ומצרים אדם ולא אל וסוסיהם בשר ולא רוח ויהוה יטה ידו וכשל עוזר ונפל עזר ויחדו כלם יכליון׃
4For thus saith Jehovah unto me, As the lion and the young lion growling over his prey, if a multitude of shepherds be called forth against him, will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so will Jehovah of hosts come down to fight upon mount Zion, and upon the hill thereof.
4Car ainsi m'a parlé l'Eternel: Comme le lion, comme le lionceau rugit sur sa proie, Et, malgré tous les bergers rassemblés contre lui, Ne se laisse ni effrayer par leur voix, Ni intimider par leur nombre; De même l'Eternel des armées descendra Pour combattre sur la montagne de Sion et sur sa colline.
4כי כה אמר יהוה אלי כאשר יהגה האריה והכפיר על טרפו אשר יקרא עליו מלא רעים מקולם לא יחת ומהמונם לא יענה כן ירד יהוה צבאות לצבא על הר ציון ועל גבעתה׃
5As birds hovering, so will Jehovah of hosts protect Jerusalem; he will protect and deliver [it], he will pass over and preserve [it].
5Comme des oiseaux déploient les ailes sur leur couvée, Ainsi l'Eternel des armées étendra sa protection sur Jérusalem; Il protégera et délivrera, Il épargnera et sauvera.
5כצפרים עפות כן יגן יהוה צבאות על ירושלם גנון והציל פסח והמליט׃
6Turn ye unto him from whom ye have deeply revolted, O children of Israel.
6Revenez à celui dont on s'est profondément détourné, Enfants d'Israël!
6שובו לאשר העמיקו סרה בני ישראל׃
7For in that day they shall cast away every man his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.
7En ce jour, chacun rejettera ses idoles d'argent et ses idoles d'or, Que vous vous êtes fabriquées de vos mains criminelles.
7כי ביום ההוא ימאסון איש אלילי כספו ואלילי זהבו אשר עשו לכם ידיכם חטא׃
8And the Assyrian shall fall by the sword, not of man; and the sword, not of men, shall devour him; and he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall become subject to taskwork.
8Et l'Assyrien tombera sous un glaive qui n'est pas celui d'un homme, Et un glaive qui n'est pas celui d'un homme le dévorera; Il s'enfuira devant le glaive, Et ses jeunes guerriers seront asservis.
8ונפל אשור בחרב לא איש וחרב לא אדם תאכלנו ונס לו מפני חרב ובחוריו למס יהיו׃
9And his rock shall pass away by reason of terror, and his princes shall be dismayed at the ensign, saith Jehovah, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
9Son rocher s'enfuira d'épouvante, Et ses chefs trembleront devant la bannière, Dit l'Eternel, qui a son feu dans Sion Et sa fournaise dans Jérusalem.
9וסלעו ממגור יעבור וחתו מנס שריו נאם יהוה אשר אור לו בציון ותנור לו בירושלם׃
