¹Thus said Jehovah: Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,

¹Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Descends dans la maison du roi de Juda, et là prononce cette parole.

¹כה אמר יהוה רד בית מלך יהודה ודברת שם את הדבר הזה׃

²And say, Hear the word of Jehovah, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates.

²Tu diras: Ecoute la parole de l'Eternel, roi de Juda, qui es assis sur le trône de David, toi, tes serviteurs, et ton peuple, qui entrez par ces portes!

²ואמרת שמע דבר יהוה מלך יהודה הישב על כסא דוד אתה ועבדיך ועמך הבאים בשערים האלה׃

³Thus saith Jehovah: Execute ye justice and righteousness, and deliver him that is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence, to the sojourner, the fatherless, nor the widow; neither shed innocent blood in this place.

³Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Pratiquez la justice et l'équité; délivrez l'opprimé des mains de l'oppresseur; ne maltraitez pas l'étranger, l'orphelin et la veuve; n'usez pas de violence, et ne répandez point de sang innocent dans ce lieu.

³כה אמר יהוה עשו משפט וצדקה והצילו גזול מיד עשוק וגר יתום ואלמנה אל תנו אל תחמסו ודם נקי אל תשפכו במקום הזה׃

⁴For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

⁴Car si vous agissez selon cette parole, les rois assis sur le trône de David entreront par les portes de cette maison, montés sur des chars et sur des chevaux, eux, leurs serviteurs et leur peuple.

⁴כי אם עשו תעשו את הדבר הזה ובאו בשערי הבית הזה מלכים ישבים לדוד על כסאו רכבים ברכב ובסוסים הוא ועבדו ועמו׃

⁵But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith Jehovah, that this house shall become a desolation.

⁵Mais si vous n'écoutez pas ces paroles, je le jure par moi-même, dit l'Eternel, cette maison deviendra une ruine.

⁵ואם לא תשמעו את הדברים האלה בי נשבעתי נאם יהוה כי לחרבה יהיה הבית הזה׃

⁶For thus saith Jehovah concerning the house of the king of Judah: Thou art Gilead unto me, [and] the head of Lebanon; [yet] surely I will make thee a wilderness, [and] cities which are not inhabited.

⁶Car ainsi parle l'Eternel sur la maison du roi de Juda: Tu es pour moi comme Galaad, comme le sommet du Liban; Mais certes, je ferai de toi un désert, Une ville sans habitants.

⁶כי כה אמר יהוה על בית מלך יהודה גלעד אתה לי ראש הלבנון אם לא אשיתך מדבר ערים לא נושבה׃

⁷And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons; and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

⁷Je prépare contre toi des destructeurs, Chacun avec ses armes; Ils abattront tes plus beaux cèdres, Et les jetteront au feu.

⁷וקדשתי עליך משחתים איש וכליו וכרתו מבחר ארזיך והפילו על האש׃

⁸And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbor, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this great city?

⁸Des nations nombreuses passeront près de cette ville, Et elles se diront l'une à l'autre: Pourquoi l'Eternel a-t-il ainsi traité cette grande ville?

⁸ועברו גוים רבים על העיר הזאת ואמרו איש אל רעהו על מה עשה יהוה ככה לעיר הגדולה הזאת׃

⁹Then they shall answer, Because they forsook the covenant of Jehovah their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.

⁹Et l'on répondra: Parce qu'ils ont abandonné L'alliance de l'Eternel, leur Dieu, Parce qu'ils se sont prosternés devant d'autres dieux et les ont servis.

⁹ואמרו על אשר עזבו את ברית יהוה אלהיהם וישתחוו לאלהים אחרים ויעבדום׃

¹⁰Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him; but weep sore for him that goeth away; for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.

¹⁰Ne pleurez point celui qui est mort, Et ne vous lamentez pas sur lui; Pleurez, pleurez celui qui s'en va, Car il ne reviendra plus, Il ne reverra plus le pays de sa naissance.

¹⁰אל תבכו למת ואל תנדו לו בכו בכו להלך כי לא ישוב עוד וראה את ארץ מולדתו׃

¹¹For thus saith Jehovah touching Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, [and] who went forth out of this place: He shall not return thither any more.

¹¹Car ainsi parle l'Eternel sur Schallum, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, Qui régnait à la place de Josias, son père, Et qui est sorti de ce lieu: Il n'y reviendra plus;

¹¹כי כה אמר יהוה אל שלם בן יאשיהו מלך יהודה המלך תחת יאשיהו אביו אשר יצא מן המקום הזה לא ישוב שם עוד׃

¹²But in the place whither they have led him captive, there shall he die, and he shall see this land no more.

¹²Mais il mourra dans le lieu où on l'emmène captif, Et il ne verra plus ce pays.

¹²כי במקום אשר הגלו אתו שם ימות ואת הארץ הזאת לא יראה עוד׃

¹³Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by injustice; that useth his neighbor's service without wages, and giveth him not his hire;

¹³Malheur à celui qui bâtit sa maison par l'injustice, Et ses chambres par l'iniquité; Qui fait travailler son prochain sans le payer, Sans lui donner son salaire;

¹³הוי בנה ביתו בלא צדק ועליותיו בלא משפט ברעהו יעבד חנם ופעלו לא יתן לו׃

¹⁴that saith, I will build me a wide house and spacious chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is ceiled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.

¹⁴Qui dit: Je me bâtirai une maison vaste, Et des chambres spacieuses; Et qui s'y fait percer des fenêtres, La lambrisse de cèdre, Et la peint en couleur rouge!

¹⁴האמר אבנה לי בית מדות ועליות מרוחים וקרע לו חלוני וספון בארז ומשוח בששר׃

¹⁵Shalt thou reign, because thou strivest to excel in cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? then it was well with him.

¹⁵Est-ce que tu règnes, parce que tu as de la passion pour le cèdre? Ton père ne mangeait-il pas, ne buvait-il pas? Mais il pratiquait la justice et l'équité, Et il fut heureux;

¹⁵התמלך כי אתה מתחרה בארז אביך הלוא אכל ושתה ועשה משפט וצדקה אז טוב לו׃

¹⁶He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Was not this to know me? saith Jehovah.

¹⁶Il jugeait la cause du pauvre et de l'indigent, Et il fut heureux. N'est-ce pas là me connaître? dit l'Eternel.

¹⁶דן דין עני ואביון אז טוב הלוא היא הדעת אתי נאם יהוה׃

¹⁷But thine eyes and thy heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for shedding innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

¹⁷Mais tu n'as des yeux et un coeur Que pour te livrer à la cupidité, Pour répandre le sang innocent, Et pour exercer l'oppression et la violence.

¹⁷כי אין עיניך ולבך כי אם על בצעך ועל דם הנקי לשפוך ועל העשק ועל המרוצה לעשות׃

¹⁸Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: they shall not lament for him, [saying], Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! They shall not lament for him, [saying] Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

¹⁸C'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Eternel sur Jojakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda: On ne le pleurera pas, en disant: Hélas, mon frère! hélas, ma soeur! On ne le pleurera pas, en disant: Hélas, seigneur! hélas, sa majesté!

¹⁸לכן כה אמר יהוה אל יהויקים בן יאשיהו מלך יהודה לא יספדו לו הוי אחי והוי אחות לא יספדו לו הוי אדון והוי הדה׃

¹⁹He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

¹⁹Il aura la sépulture d'un âne, Il sera traîné et jeté hors des portes de Jérusalem.

¹⁹קבורת חמור יקבר סחוב והשלך מהלאה לשערי ירושלם׃

²⁰Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from Abarim; for all thy lovers are destroyed.

²⁰Monte sur le Liban, et crie! Elève ta voix sur le Basan! Crie du haut d'Abarim! Car tous ceux qui t'aimaient sont brisés.

²⁰עלי הלבנון וצעקי ובבשן תני קולך וצעקי מעברים כי נשברו כל מאהביך׃

²¹I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.

²¹Je t'ai parlé dans le temps de ta prospérité; Tu disais: Je n'écouterai pas. C'est ainsi que tu as agi dès ta jeunesse; Tu n'as pas écouté ma voix.

²¹דברתי אליך בשלותיך אמרת לא אשמע זה דרכך מנעוריך כי לא שמעת בקולי׃

²²The wind shall feed all thy shepherds, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

²²Tous tes pasteurs seront la pâture du vent, Et ceux qui t'aiment iront en captivité; C'est alors que tu seras dans la honte, dans la confusion, A cause de toute ta méchanceté.

²²כל רעיך תרעה רוח ומאהביך בשבי ילכו כי אז תבשי ונכלמת מכל רעתך׃

²³O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how greatly to be pitied shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

²³Toi qui habites sur le Liban, Qui as ton nid dans les cèdres, Combien tu gémiras quand les douleurs t'atteindront, Douleurs semblables à celles d'une femme en travail!

²³ישבתי בלבנון מקננתי בארזים מה נחנת בבא לך חבלים חיל כילדה׃

²⁴As I live, saith Jehovah, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;

²⁴Je suis vivant! dit l'Eternel, Quand Jeconia, fils de Jojakim, roi de Juda, serait Un anneau à ma main droite, Je t'arracherais de là.

²⁴חי אני נאם יהוה כי אם יהיה כניהו בן יהויקים מלך יהודה חותם על יד ימיני כי משם אתקנך׃

²⁵and I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them of whom thou art afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

²⁵Je te livrerai entre les mains de ceux qui en veulent à ta vie, Entre les mains de ceux devant qui tu trembles, Entre les mains de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, Entre les mains des Chaldéens.

²⁵ונתתיך ביד מבקשי נפשך וביד אשר אתה יגור מפניהם וביד נבוכדראצר מלך בבל וביד הכשדים׃

²⁶And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.

²⁶Je te jetterai, toi et ta mère qui t'a enfanté, Dans un autre pays où vous n'êtes pas nés, Et là vous mourrez;

²⁶והטלתי אתך ואת אמך אשר ילדתך על הארץ אחרת אשר לא ילדתם שם ושם תמותו׃

²⁷But to the land whereunto their soul longeth to return, thither shall they not return.

²⁷Mais dans le pays où ils auront le désir de retourner, Ils ne retourneront pas.

²⁷ועל הארץ אשר הם מנשאים את נפשם לשוב שם שמה לא ישובו׃

²⁸Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? is he a vessel wherein none delighteth? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into the land which they know not?

²⁸Est-il donc un vase méprisé, brisé, ce Jeconia? Est-il un objet auquel on n'attache aucun prix? Pourquoi sont-ils jetés, lui et sa postérité, Lancés dans un pays qu'ils ne connaissent pas? -

²⁸העצב נבזה נפוץ האיש הזה כניהו אם כלי אין חפץ בו מדוע הוטלו הוא וזרעו והשלכו על הארץ אשר לא ידעו׃

²⁹O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of Jehovah.

²⁹Terre, terre, terre, Ecoute la parole de l'Eternel!

²⁹ארץ ארץ ארץ שמעי דבר יהוה׃

³⁰Thus saith Jehovah, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days; for no more shall a man of his seed prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling in Judah.

³⁰Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Inscrivez cet homme comme privé d'enfants, Comme un homme dont les jours ne seront pas prospères; Car nul de ses descendants ne réussira A s'asseoir sur le trône de David Et à régner sur Juda.

³⁰כה אמר יהוה כתבו את האיש הזה ערירי גבר לא יצלח בימיו כי לא יצלח מזרעו איש ישב על כסא דוד ומשל עוד ביהודה׃
