¹In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

¹Au commencement du règne de Jojakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, cette parole fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de l'Eternel, en ces mots:

¹בראשית ממלכת יהויקם בן יאושיהו מלך יהודה היה הדבר הזה אל ירמיה מאת יהוה לאמר׃

²Thus saith Jehovah to me: Make thee bonds and bars, and put them upon thy neck;

²Ainsi m'a parlé l'Eternel: Fais-toi des liens et des jougs, et mets-les sur ton cou.

²כה אמר יהוה אלי עשה לך מוסרות ומטות ונתתם על צוארך׃

³and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers that come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah;

³Envoie-les au roi d'Edom, au roi de Moab, au roi des enfants d'Ammon, au roi de Tyr et au roi de Sidon, par les envoyés qui sont venus à Jérusalem auprès de Sédécias, roi de Juda,

³ושלחתם אל מלך אדום ואל מלך מואב ואל מלך בני עמון ואל מלך צר ואל מלך צידון ביד מלאכים הבאים ירושלם אל צדקיהו מלך יהודה׃

⁴and give them a charge unto their masters, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Thus shall ye say unto your masters:

⁴et à qui tu donneras mes ordres pour leurs maîtres, en disant: Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Voici ce que vous direz à vos maîtres:

⁴וצוית אתם אל אדניהם לאמר כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל כה תאמרו אל אדניכם׃

⁵I have made the earth, the men and the beasts that are upon the face of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm; and I give it unto whom it seemeth right unto me.

⁵C'est moi qui ai fait la terre, les hommes et les animaux qui sont sur la terre, par ma grande puissance et par mon bras étendu, et je donne la terre à qui cela me plaît.

⁵אנכי עשיתי את הארץ את האדם ואת הבהמה אשר על פני הארץ בכחי הגדול ובזרועי הנטויה ונתתיה לאשר ישר בעיני׃

⁶And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field also have I given him to serve him.

⁶Maintenant je livre tous ces pays entre les mains de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, mon serviteur; je lui donne aussi les animaux des champs, pour qu'ils lui soient assujettis.

⁶ועתה אנכי נתתי את כל הארצות האלה ביד נבוכדנאצר מלך בבל עבדי וגם את חית השדה נתתי לו לעבדו׃

⁷And all the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondman.

⁷Toutes les nations lui seront soumises, à lui, à son fils, et au fils de son fils, jusqu'à ce que le temps de son pays arrive, et que des nations puissantes et de grands rois l'asservissent.

⁷ועבדו אתו כל הגוים ואת בנו ואת בן בנו עד בא עת ארצו גם הוא ועבדו בו גוים רבים ומלכים גדלים׃

⁸And it shall come to pass, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith Jehovah, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

⁸Si une nation, si un royaume ne se soumet pas à lui, à Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, et ne livre pas son cou au joug du roi de Babylone, je châtierai cette nation par l'épée, par la famine et par la peste, dit l'Eternel, jusqu'à ce que je l'aie anéantie par sa main.

⁸והיה הגוי והממלכה אשר לא יעבדו אתו את נבוכדנאצר מלך בבל ואת אשר לא יתן את צוארו בעל מלך בבל בחרב וברעב ובדבר אפקד על הגוי ההוא נאם יהוה עד תמי אתם בידו׃

⁹But as for you, hearken ye not to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreams, nor to your soothsayers, nor to your sorcerers, that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon:

⁹Et vous, n'écoutez pas vos prophètes, vos devins, vos songeurs, vos astrologues, vos magiciens, qui vous disent: Vous ne serez point asservis au roi de Babylone!

⁹ואתם אל תשמעו אל נביאיכם ואל קסמיכם ואל חלמתיכם ואל ענניכם ואל כשפיכם אשר הם אמרים אליכם לאמר לא תעבדו את מלך בבל׃

¹⁰for they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.

¹⁰Car c'est le mensonge qu'ils vous prophétisent, afin que vous soyez éloignés de votre pays, afin que je vous chasse et que vous périssiez.

¹⁰כי שקר הם נבאים לכם למען הרחיק אתכם מעל אדמתכם והדחתי אתכם ואבדתם׃

¹¹But the nation that shall bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, that [nation] will I let remain in their own land, saith Jehovah; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.

¹¹Mais la nation qui pliera son cou sous le joug du roi de Babylone, et qui lui sera soumise, je la laisserai dans son pays, dit l'Eternel, pour qu'elle le cultive et qu'elle y demeure.

¹¹והגוי אשר יביא את צוארו בעל מלך בבל ועבדו והנחתיו על אדמתו נאם יהוה ועבדה וישב בה׃

¹²And I spake to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

¹²J'ai dit entièrement les mêmes choses à Sédécias, roi de Juda: Pliez votre cou sous le joug du roi de Babylone, soumettez-vous à lui et à son peuple, et vous vivrez.

¹²ואל צדקיה מלך יהודה דברתי ככל הדברים האלה לאמר הביאו את צואריכם בעל מלך בבל ועבדו אתו ועמו וחיו׃

¹³Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as Jehovah hath spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

¹³Pourquoi mourriez-vous, toi et ton peuple, par l'épée, par la famine et par la peste, comme l'Eternel l'a prononcé sur la nation qui ne se soumettra pas au roi de Babylone?

¹³למה תמותו אתה ועמך בחרב ברעב ובדבר כאשר דבר יהוה אל הגוי אשר לא יעבד את מלך בבל׃

¹⁴And hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon; for they prophesy a lie unto you.

¹⁴N'écoutez pas les paroles des prophètes qui vous disent: Vous ne serez point asservis au roi de Babylone! Car c'est le mensonge qu'ils vous prophétisent.

¹⁴ואל תשמעו אל דברי הנבאים האמרים אליכם לאמר לא תעבדו את מלך בבל כי שקר הם נבאים לכם׃

¹⁵For I have not sent them, saith Jehovah, but they prophesy falsely in my name; that I may drive you out, and that ye may perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you.

¹⁵Je ne les ai point envoyés, dit l'Eternel, et ils prophétisent le mensonge en mon nom, afin que je vous chasse et que vous périssiez, vous et les prophètes qui vous prophétisent.

¹⁵כי לא שלחתים נאם יהוה והם נבאים בשמי לשקר למען הדיחי אתכם ואבדתם אתם והנבאים הנבאים לכם׃

¹⁶Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of Jehovah's house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon; for they prophesy a lie unto you.

¹⁶J'ai dit aux sacrificateurs et à tout ce peuple: Ainsi parle l'Eternel: N'écoutez pas les paroles de vos prophètes qui vous prophétisent, disant: Voici, les ustensiles de la maison de l'Eternel seront bientôt rapportés de Babylone! Car c'est le mensonge qu'ils vous prophétisent.

¹⁶ואל הכהנים ואל כל העם הזה דברתי לאמר כה אמר יהוה אל תשמעו אל דברי נביאיכם הנבאים לכם לאמר הנה כלי בית יהוה מושבים מבבלה עתה מהרה כי שקר המה נבאים לכם׃

¹⁷Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city become a desolation?

¹⁷Ne les écoutez pas, soumettez-vous au roi de Babylone, et vous vivrez. Pourquoi cette ville deviendrait-elle une ruine?

¹⁷אל תשמעו אליהם עבדו את מלך בבל וחיו למה תהיה העיר הזאת חרבה׃

¹⁸But if they be prophets, and if the word of Jehovah be with them, let them now make intercession to Jehovah of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of Jehovah, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.

¹⁸S'ils sont prophètes et si la parole de l'Eternel est avec eux, qu'ils intercèdent auprès de l'Eternel des armées pour que les ustensiles qui restent dans la maison de l'Eternel, dans la maison du roi de Juda, et dans Jérusalem, ne s'en aillent point à Babylone.

¹⁸ואם נבאים הם ואם יש דבר יהוה אתם יפגעו נא ביהוה צבאות לבלתי באו הכלים הנותרים בבית יהוה ובית מלך יהודה ובירושלם בבלה׃

¹⁹For thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that are left in this city,

¹⁹Car ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées au sujet des colonnes, de la mer, des bases, et des autres ustensiles qui sont restés dans cette ville,

¹⁹כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות אל העמדים ועל הים ועל המכנות ועל יתר הכלים הנותרים בעיר הזאת׃

²⁰which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;

²⁰qui n'ont pas été enlevés par Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, lorsqu'il emmena captifs de Jérusalem à Babylone Jeconia, fils de Jojakim, roi de Juda, et tous les grands de Juda et de Jérusalem,

²⁰אשר לא לקחם נבוכדנאצר מלך בבל בגלותו את יכוניה בן יהויקים מלך יהודה מירושלם בבלה ואת כל חרי יהודה וירושלם׃

²¹yea, thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in the house of Jehovah, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem:

²¹ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, au sujet des ustensiles qui restent dans la maison de l'Eternel, dans la maison du roi de Juda, et dans Jérusalem:

²¹כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל על הכלים הנותרים בית יהוה ובית מלך יהודה וירושלם׃

²²They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be, until the day that I visit them, saith Jehovah; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.

²²Ils seront emportés à Babylone, et ils y resteront jusqu'au jour où je les chercherai, dit l'Eternel, où je les ferai remonter et revenir dans ce lieu.

²²בבלה יובאו ושמה יהיו עד יום פקדי אתם נאם יהוה והעליתים והשיבתים אל המקום הזה׃
