1Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
1Bildad de Schuach prit la parole et dit:
1ויען בלדד השחי ויאמר׃
2How long will ye hunt for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.
2Quand mettrez-vous un terme à ces discours? Ayez de l'intelligence, puis nous parlerons.
2עד אנה תשימון קנצי למלין תבינו ואחר נדבר׃
3Wherefore are we counted as beasts, [And] are become unclean in your sight?
3Pourquoi sommes-nous regardés comme des bêtes? Pourquoi ne sommes-nous à vos yeux que des brutes?
3מדוע נחשבנו כבהמה נטמינו בעיניכם׃
4Thou that tearest thyself in thine anger, Shall the earth be forsaken for thee? Or shall the rock be removed out of its place?
4O toi qui te déchires dans ta fureur, Faut-il, à cause de toi, que la terre devienne déserte? Faut-il que les rochers disparaissent de leur place?
4טרף נפשו באפו הלמענך תעזב ארץ ויעתק צור ממקמו׃
5Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, And the spark of his fire shall not shine.
5La lumière du méchant s'éteindra, Et la flamme qui en jaillit cessera de briller.
5גם אור רשעים ידעך ולא יגה שביב אשו׃
6The light shall be dark in his tent, And his lamp above him shall be put out.
6La lumière s'obscurcira sous sa tente, Et sa lampe au-dessus de lui s'éteindra.
6אור חשך באהלו ונרו עליו ידעך׃
7The steps of his strength shall be straitened, And his own counsel shall cast him down.
7Ses pas assurés seront à l'étroit; Malgré ses efforts, il tombera.
7יצרו צעדי אונו ותשליכהו עצתו׃
8For he is cast into a net by his own feet, And he walketh upon the toils.
8Car il met les pieds sur un filet, Il marche dans les mailles,
8כי שלח ברשת ברגליו ועל שבכה יתהלך׃
9A gin shall take [him] by the heel, [And] a snare shall lay hold on him.
9Il est saisi au piège par le talon, Et le filet s'empare de lui;
9יאחז בעקב פח יחזק עליו צמים׃
10A noose is hid for him in the ground, And a trap for him in the way.
10Le cordeau est caché dans la terre, Et la trappe est sur son sentier.
10טמון בארץ חבלו ומלכדתו עלי נתיב׃
11Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, And shall chase him at his heels.
11Des terreurs l'assiègent, l'entourent, Le poursuivent par derrière.
11סביב בעתהו בלהות והפיצהו לרגליו׃
12His strength shall be hunger-bitten, And calamity shall be ready at his side.
12La faim consume ses forces, La misère est à ses côtés.
12יהי רעב אנו ואיד נכון לצלעו׃
13The members of his body shall be devoured, [Yea], the first-born of death shall devour his members.
13Les parties de sa peau sont l'une après l'autre dévorées, Ses membres sont dévorés par le premier-né de la mort.
13יאכל בדי עורו יאכל בדיו בכור מות׃
14He shall be rooted out of his tent where he trusteth; And he shall be brought to the king of terrors.
14Il est arraché de sa tente où il se croyait en sûreté, Il se traîne vers le roi des épouvantements.
14ינתק מאהלו מבטחו ותצעדהו למלך בלהות׃
15There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his: Brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
15Nul des siens n'habite sa tente, Le soufre est répandu sur sa demeure.
15תשכון באהלו מבלי לו יזרה על נוהו גפרית׃
16His roots shall be dried up beneath, And above shall his branch be cut off.
16En bas, ses racines se dessèchent; En haut, ses branches sont coupées.
16מתחת שרשיו יבשו וממעל ימל קצירו׃
17His remembrance shall perish from the earth, And he shall have no name in the street.
17Sa mémoire disparaît de la terre, Son nom n'est plus sur la face des champs.
17זכרו אבד מני ארץ ולא שם לו על פני חוץ׃
18He shall be driven from light into darkness, And chased out of the world.
18Il est poussé de la lumière dans les ténèbres, Il est chassé du monde.
18יהדפהו מאור אל חשך ומתבל ינדהו׃
19He shall have neither son nor son's son among his people, Nor any remaining where he sojourned.
19Il ne laisse ni descendants ni postérité parmi son peuple, Ni survivant dans les lieux qu'il habitait.
19לא נין לו ולא נכד בעמו ואין שריד במגוריו׃
20They that come after shall be astonished at his day, As they that went before were affrighted.
20Les générations à venir seront étonnées de sa ruine, Et la génération présente sera saisie d'effroi.
20על יומו נשמו אחרנים וקדמנים אחזו שער׃
21Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous, And this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
21Point d'autre destinée pour le méchant, Point d'autre sort pour qui ne connaît pas Dieu!
21אך אלה משכנות עול וזה מקום לא ידע אל׃
