1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made.
3Toutes choses ont été faites par elle, et rien de ce qui a été fait n'a été fait sans elle.
3הכל נהיה על ידו ומבלעדיו לא נהיה כל אשר נהיה׃
4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
4En elle était la vie, et la vie était la lumière des hommes.
4בו היו חיים והחיים היו אור בני האדם׃
5And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not.
5La lumière luit dans les ténèbres, et les ténèbres ne l'ont point reçue.
5והאור בחשך זרח והחשך לא השיגו׃
6There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
6Il y eut un homme envoyé de Dieu: son nom était Jean.
6ויהי איש שלוח מאת האלהים ושמו יוחנן׃
7The same came for witness, that he might bear witness of the light, that all might believe through him.
7Il vint pour servir de témoin, pour rendre témoignage à la lumière, afin que tous crussent par lui.
7הוא בא לעדות להעיד על האור למען יאמינו כלם על ידו׃
8He was not the light, but [came] that he might bear witness of the light.
8Il n'était pas la lumière, mais il parut pour rendre témoignage à la lumière.
8הוא לא היה האור כי אם להעיד על האור׃
9There was the true light, [even the light] which lighteth every man, coming into the world.
9Cette lumière était la véritable lumière, qui, en venant dans le monde, éclaire tout homme.
9האור האמתי המאיר לכל אדם היה בא אל העולם׃
10He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.
10Elle était dans le monde, et le monde a été fait par elle, et le monde ne l'a point connue.
10בעולם היה ועל ידו נהיה העולם והעולם לא הכירו׃
11He came unto his own, and they that were his own received him not.
11Elle est venue chez les siens, et les siens ne l'ont point reçue.
11הוא בא אל אשר לו ואשר המה לו לא קבלהו׃
12But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
12Mais à tous ceux qui l'ont reçue, à ceux qui croient en son nom, elle a donné le pouvoir de devenir enfants de Dieu,
12והמקבלים אתו נתן עז למו להיות בנים לאלהים המאמינים בשמו׃
13who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
13lesquels sont nés, non du sang, ni de la volonté de la chair, ni de la volonté de l'homme, mais de Dieu.
13אשר לא מדם ולא מחפץ הבשר אף לא מחפץ גבר כי אם מאלהים נולדו׃
14And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.
14Et la parole a été faite chair, et elle a habité parmi nous, pleine de grâce et de vérité; et nous avons contemplé sa gloire, une gloire comme la gloire du Fils unique venu du Père.
14והדבר נהיה בשר וישכן בתוכנו ונחזה תפארתו כתפארת בן יחיד לאביו רב חסד ואמת׃
15John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me is become before me: for he was before me.
15Jean lui a rendu témoignage, et s'est écrié: C'est celui dont j'ai dit: Celui qui vient après moi m'a précédé, car il était avant moi.
15ויוחנן מעיד עליו ויקרא לאמר הנה זה הוא אשר אמרתי עליו הבא אחרי היה לפני כי קדם לי היה׃
16For of his fulness we all received, and grace for grace.
16Et nous avons tous reçu de sa plénitude, et grâce pour grâce;
16וממלואו לקחנו כלנו חסד על חסד׃
17For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
17car la loi a été donnée par Moïse, la grâce et la vérité sont venues par Jésus-Christ.
17כי התורה נתנה ביד משה והחסד והאמת באו על ידי ישוע המשיח׃
18No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].
18Personne n'a jamais vu Dieu; le Fils unique, qui est dans le sein du Père, est celui qui l'a fait connaître.
18את האלהים לא ראה איש מעולם הבן היחיד אשר בחיק האב הוא הודיע׃
19And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent unto him from Jerusalem priests and Levites to ask him, Who art thou?
19Voici le témoignage de Jean, lorsque les Juifs envoyèrent de Jérusalem des sacrificateurs et des Lévites, pour lui demander: Toi, qui es-tu?
19וזאת היא עדות יוחנן בשלח היהודים מירושלים כהנים ולוים לשאל אתו מי אתה׃
20And he confessed, and denied not; and he confessed, I am not the Christ.
20Il déclara, et ne le nia point, il déclara qu'il n'était pas le Christ.
20ויודה ולא כחש ויודה לאמר אני אינני המשיח׃
21And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.
21Et ils lui demandèrent: Quoi donc? es-tu Elie? Et il dit: Je ne le suis point. Es-tu le prophète? Et il répondit: Non.
21וישאלו אתו מי אפוא אתה האתה אליהו ויאמר אינני האתה הנביא ויען לא׃
22They said therefore unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
22Ils lui dirent alors: Qui es-tu? afin que nous donnions une réponse à ceux qui nous ont envoyés. Que dis-tu de toi-même?
22ויאמרו אליו מי זה אתה למען נשיב לשלחינו דבר מה תאמר עליך׃
23He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said Isaiah the prophet.
23Moi, dit-il, je suis la voix de celui qui crie dans le désert: Aplanissez le chemin du Seigneur, comme a dit Esaïe, le prophète.
23ויאמר אני קול קורא במדבר פנו דרך יהוה כאשר דבר ישעיהו הנביא׃
24And they had been sent from the Pharisees.
24Ceux qui avaient été envoyés étaient des pharisiens.
24והמשלחים היו מן הפרושים׃
25And they asked him, and said unto him, Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Christ, neither Elijah, neither the prophet?
25Ils lui firent encore cette question: Pourquoi donc baptises-tu, si tu n'es pas le Christ, ni Elie, ni le prophète?
25וישאלהו ויאמרו אליו מדוע אפוא מטביל אתה אם אינך המשיח או אליה או הנביא׃
26John answered them, saying, I baptize in water: in the midst of you standeth one whom ye know not,
26Jean leur répondit: Moi, je baptise d'eau, mais au milieu de vous il y a quelqu'un que vous ne connaissez pas,
26ויען אתם יוחנן ויאמר אנכי מטביל במים ובתוככם עומד אשר לא ידעתם אתו׃
27[even] he that cometh after me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to unloose.
27qui vient après moi; je ne suis pas digne de délier la courroie de ses souliers.
27הוא הבא אחרי אשר היה לפני ואני נקלתי מהתיר שרוך נעליו׃
28These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
28Ces choses se passèrent à Béthanie, au delà du Jourdain, où Jean baptisait.
28זאת היתה בבית עברה מעבר לירדן מקום אשר יוחנן מטביל שם׃
29On the morrow he seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world!
29Le lendemain, il vit Jésus venant à lui, et il dit: Voici l'Agneau de Dieu, qui ôte le péché du monde.
29ויהי ממחרת וירא יוחנן את ישוע בא אליו ויאמר הנה שה האלהים הנשא חטאת העולם׃
30This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man who is become before me: for he was before me.
30C'est celui dont j'ai dit: Après moi vient un homme qui m'a précédé, car il était avant moi.
30זה הוא אשר אמרתי עליו אחרי יבא איש אשר היה לפני כי קדם לי היה׃
31And I knew him not; but that he should be made manifest to Israel, for this cause came I baptizing in water.
31Je ne le connaissais pas, mais c'est afin qu'il fût manifesté à Israël que je suis venu baptiser d'eau.
31ואני לא ידעתיו כי אם בעבור יגלה בישראל באתי אני לטבל במים׃
32And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him.
32Jean rendit ce témoignage: J'ai vu l'Esprit descendre du ciel comme une colombe et s'arrêter sur lui.
32ויעד יוחנן ויאמר חזיתי הרוח כדמות יונה ירדת משמים ותנח עליו׃
33And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.
33Je ne le connaissais pas, mais celui qui m'a envoyé baptiser d'eau, celui-là m'a dit: Celui sur qui tu verras l'Esprit descendre et s'arrêter, c'est celui qui baptise du Saint-Esprit.
33ואני לא ידעתיו אולם השלח אתי לטבל במים הוא אמר אלי את אשר תראה הרוח ירדת ונחה עליו הנה זה הוא אשר יטבל ברוח הקדש׃
34And I have seen, and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.
34Et j'ai vu, et j'ai rendu témoignage qu'il est le Fils de Dieu.
34ואני ראיתי ואעידה כי זה הוא בן האלהים׃
35Again on the morrow John was standing, and two of his disciples;
35Le lendemain, Jean était encore là, avec deux de ses disciples;
35ויהי ממחרת ויסף יוחנן ויעמד ושנים מתלמידיו עמו׃
36and he looked upon Jesus as he walked, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!
36et, ayant regardé Jésus qui passait, il dit: Voilà l'Agneau de Dieu.
36ויבט אל ישוע והוא מתהלך ויאמר הנה שה האלהים׃
37And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
37Les deux disciples l'entendirent prononcer ces paroles, et ils suivirent Jésus.
37ושני תלמידיו שמעו את דברו וילכו אחרי ישוע׃
38And Jesus turned, and beheld them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? And they said unto him, Rabbi (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), where abideth thou?
38Jésus se retourna, et voyant qu'ils le suivaient, il leur dit: Que cherchez-vous? Ils lui répondirent: Rabbi ce qui signifie Maître, où demeures-tu?
38ויפן ישוע אחריו וירא אתם הלכים אחריו ויאמר אליהם מה תבקשו ויאמרו אליו רבי פרושו מורי איפה תלין׃
39He saith unto them, Come, and ye shall see. They came therefore and saw where he abode; and they abode with him that day: it was about the tenth hour.
39Venez, leur dit-il, et voyez. Ils allèrent, et ils virent où il demeurait; et ils restèrent auprès de lui ce jour-là. C'était environ la dixième heure.
39ויאמר אליהם באו וראו ויבאו ויראו את מקום מלונו וישבו עמו ביום ההוא והעת כשעה העשירית׃
40One of the two that heard John [speak], and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
40André, frère de Simon Pierre, était l'un des deux qui avaient entendu les paroles de Jean, et qui avaient suivi Jésus.
40ואחד מן השנים אשר שמעו מאת יוחנן והלכו אחריו הוא אנדרי אחי שמעון פטרוס׃
41He findeth first his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being interpreted, Christ).
41Ce fut lui qui rencontra le premier son frère Simon, et il lui dit: Nous avons trouvé le Messie ce qui signifie Christ.
41הוא פגש בראשונה את שמעון אחיו ויאמר אליו את המשיח מצאנו אשר תרגומו כריסטוס׃
42He brought him unto Jesus. Jesus looked upon him, and said, Thou art Simon the son of John: thou shalt be called Cephas (which is by interpretation, Peter).
42Et il le conduisit vers Jésus. Jésus, l'ayant regardé, dit: Tu es Simon, fils de Jonas; tu seras appelé Céphas ce qui signifie Pierre.
42ויוליכהו אל ישוע ויהי כהביט אליו ישוע ויאמר שמעון בן יונה לך יקרא כיפא אשר תרגומו פטרוס׃
43On the morrow he was minded to go forth into Galilee, and he findeth Philip: and Jesus saith unto him, Follow me.
43Le lendemain, Jésus voulut se rendre en Galilée, et il rencontra Philippe. Il lui dit: Suis-moi.
43ויהי ממחרת ויואל ישוע לצאת הגלילה וימצא את פילפוס ויאמר אליו לך אחרי׃
44Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.
44Philippe était de Bethsaïda, de la ville d'André et de Pierre.
44ופילפוס היה מבית צידה עיר אנדרי ופטרוס׃
45Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
45Philippe rencontra Nathanaël, et lui dit: Nous avons trouvé celui de qui Moïse a écrit dans la loi et dont les prophètes ont parlé, Jésus de Nazareth, fils de Joseph.
45ויפגע פילפוס את נתנאל ויאמר אליו מצאנו אתו אשר כתב משה בספר התורה והנביאים את ישוע בן יוסף מנצרת׃
46And Nathanael said unto him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
46Nathanaël lui dit: Peut-il venir de Nazareth quelque chose de bon? Philippe lui répondit: Viens, et vois.
46ויאמר אליו נתנאל המנצרת תצא לנו טובה ויאמר אליו בא וראה׃
47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
47Jésus, voyant venir à lui Nathanaël, dit de lui: Voici vraiment un Israélite, dans lequel il n'y a point de fraude.
47וירא ישוע את נתנאל בא לקראתו ויאמר עליו הנה באמת בן ישראל אשר אין בו רמיה׃
48Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
48D'où me connais-tu? lui dit Nathanaël. Jésus lui répondit: Avant que Philippe t'appelât, quand tu étais sous le figuier, je t'ai vu.
48ויאמר אליו נתנאל מאין ידעתני ויען ישוע ויאמר לו בטרם קרא לך פילפוס בהיותך תחת התאנה אנכי ראיתיך׃
49Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art King of Israel.
49Nathanaël répondit et lui dit: Rabbi, tu es le Fils de Dieu, tu es le roi d'Israël.
49ויען נתנאל ויאמר אליו רבי אתה בן אלהים אתה הוא מלך ישראל׃
50Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee underneath the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
50Jésus lui répondit: Parce que je t'ai dit que je t'ai vu sous le figuier, tu crois; tu verras de plus grandes choses que celles-ci.
50ויען ישוע ויאמר אליו על אמרי לך כי תחת התאנה ראיתיך האמנת הנה גדלות מאלה תראה׃
51And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye shall see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
51Et il lui dit: En vérité, en vérité, vous verrez désormais le ciel ouvert et les anges de Dieu monter et descendre sur le Fils de l'homme.
51ויאמר אליו אמן אמן אני אמר לכם מעתה תראו השמים נפתחים ומלאכי אלהים עלים וירדים על בן אלהים׃
