¹But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came unto the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared.

¹Le premier jour de la semaine, elles se rendirent au sépulcre de grand matin, portant les aromates qu'elles avaient préparés.

¹ובאחד בשבת לפני עלות השחר באו אל הקבר ותביאינה את הסמים אשר הכינו ועמהן עוד אחרות׃

²And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

²Elles trouvèrent que la pierre avait été roulée de devant le sépulcre;

²וימצאו את האבן גלולה מן הקבר׃

³And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

³et, étant entrées, elles ne trouvèrent pas le corps du Seigneur Jésus.

³ותבאנה פנימה ולא מצאו את גוית האדון ישוע׃

⁴And it came to pass, while they were perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel:

⁴Comme elles ne savaient que penser de cela, voici, deux hommes leur apparurent, en habits resplendissants.

⁴ויהי הנה נבכות על הדבר הזה והנה שני אנשים עמדו עליהן ולבושיהם מזהירים׃

⁵and as they were affrighted and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

⁵Saisies de frayeur, elles baissèrent le visage contre terre; mais ils leur dirent: Pourquoi cherchez-vous parmi les morts celui qui est vivant?

⁵ויפל פחד עליהן ותקדנה אפים ארצה ויאמרו אליהן מה תבקשנה את החי אצל המתים׃

⁶He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

⁶Il n'est point ici, mais il est ressuscité. Souvenez-vous de quelle manière il vous a parlé, lorsqu'il était encore en Galilée,

⁶איננו פה כי קם זכרנה את אשר דבר אליכן בעוד היותו בגליל לאמר׃

⁷saying that the Son of man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

⁷et qu'il disait: Il faut que le Fils de l'homme soit livré entre les mains des pécheurs, qu'il soit crucifié, et qu'il ressuscite le troisième jour.

⁷כי צריך בן האדם להמסר לידי אנשים חטאים ולהצלב וביום השלישי קום יקום׃

⁸And they remembered his words,

⁸Et elles se ressouvinrent des paroles de Jésus.

⁸ותזכרנה את דבריו׃

⁹and returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.

⁹A leur retour du sépulcre, elles annoncèrent toutes ces choses aux onze, et à tous les autres.

⁹ותשבנה מן הקבר ותגדנה את כל הדברים האלה לעשתי העשר ולכל האחרים׃

¹⁰Now they were Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the [mother] of James: and the other women with them told these things unto the apostles.

¹⁰Celles qui dirent ces choses aux apôtres étaient Marie de Magdala, Jeanne, Marie, mère de Jacques, et les autres qui étaient avec elles.

¹⁰ומרים המגדלית ויוחנה ומרים אם יעקב והאחרות אשר עמהן הנה היו המדברות אל השליחים את הדברים האלה׃

¹¹And these words appeared in their sight as idle talk; and they disbelieved them.

¹¹Ils tinrent ces discours pour des rêveries, et ils ne crurent pas ces femmes.

¹¹ויהיו דבריהן כדברי ריק בעיניהם ולא האמינו להן׃

¹²But Peter arose, and ran unto the tomb; and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths by themselves; and he departed to his home, wondering at that which was come to pass.

¹²Mais Pierre se leva, et courut au sépulcre. S'étant baissé, il ne vit que les linges qui étaient à terre; puis il s'en alla chez lui, dans l'étonnement de ce qui était arrivé.

¹²ופטרוס קם וירץ אל הקבר וישקף ולא ראה כי אם התכריכים מנחים שם וישב למקומו משתומם על הנהיה׃

¹³And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was threescore furlongs from Jerusalem.

¹³Et voici, ce même jour, deux disciples allaient à un village nommé Emmaüs, éloigné de Jérusalem de soixante stades;

¹³והנה שנים מהם היו הלכים בעצם היום הזה אל כפר הרחק מירושלים כששים ריס ושמו עמאוס׃

¹⁴And they communed with each other of all these things which had happened.

¹⁴et ils s'entretenaient de tout ce qui s'était passé.

¹⁴והם נדברו איש אל רעהו על כל הקרות האלה׃

¹⁵And it came to pass, while they communed and questioned together, that Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

¹⁵Pendant qu'ils parlaient et discutaient, Jésus s'approcha, et fit route avec eux.

¹⁵ויהי בדברם ובהתוכחם יחד ויגש ישוע אף הוא וילך אתם׃

¹⁶But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

¹⁶Mais leurs yeux étaient empêchés de le reconnaître.

¹⁶ועיניהם נאחזו ולא יכירהו׃

¹⁷And he said unto them, What communications are these that ye have one with another, as ye walk? And they stood still, looking sad.

¹⁷Il leur dit: De quoi vous entretenez-vous en marchant, pour que vous soyez tout tristes?

¹⁷ויאמר אליהם מה המה הדברים האלה אשר אתם נשאים ונתנים בהם יחדו בדרך ופניכם זעפים׃

¹⁸And one of them, named Cleopas, answering said unto him, Dost thou alone sojourn in Jerusalem and not know the things which are come to pass there in these days?

¹⁸L'un d'eux, nommé Cléopas, lui répondit: Es-tu le seul qui, séjournant à Jérusalem ne sache pas ce qui y est arrivé ces jours-ci? -

¹⁸ויען האחד אשר שמו קליופס ויאמר אליו האתה לבדך גר בירושלים ואינך ידע את הקרת בה בימים האלה׃

¹⁹And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:

¹⁹Quoi? leur dit-il. Et ils lui répondirent: Ce qui est arrivé au sujet de Jésus de Nazareth, qui était un prophète puissant en oeuvres et en paroles devant Dieu et devant tout le peuple,

¹⁹ויאמר אליהם ומה המה ויגידו אליו מעשה ישוע הנצרי אשר היה איש נביא גבור בפעל ובאמר לפני האלהים ולפני כל העם׃

²⁰and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.

²⁰et comment les principaux sacrificateurs et nos magistrats l'ont livré pour le faire condamner à mort et l'ont crucifié.

²⁰ואת אשר כהנינו הגדולים וזקנינו הסגירהו למשפט מות ויצלבהו׃

²¹But we hoped that it was he who should redeem Israel. Yea and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things came to pass.

²¹Nous espérions que ce serait lui qui délivrerait Israël; mais avec tout cela, voici le troisième jour que ces choses se sont passées.

²¹ואנחנו חכינו כי הוא העתיד לגאל את ישראל ועתה בכל זאת היום יום שלישי מאז נעשו אלה׃

²²Moreover certain women of our company amazed us, having been early at the tomb;

²²Il est vrai que quelques femmes d'entre nous nous ont fort étonnés; s'étant rendues de grand matin au sépulcre

²²והנה גם נשים מקרבנו החרידנו אשר קדמו בבקר לבא לקבר׃

²³and when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.

²³et n'ayant pas trouvé son corps, elles sont venues dire que des anges leur sont apparus et ont annoncé qu'il est vivant.

²³ולא מצאו את גויתו ותבאנה ותאמרנה כי ראו גם מראה מלאכים האמרים כי הוא חי׃

²⁴And certain of them that were with us went to the tomb, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.

²⁴Quelques-uns de ceux qui étaient avec nous sont allés au sépulcre, et ils ont trouvé les choses comme les femmes l'avaient dit; mais lui, ils ne l'ont point vu.

²⁴וילכו אנשים משלנו אל הקבר וימצאו כאשר אמרו הנשים ואותו לא ראו׃

²⁵And he said unto them, O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

²⁵Alors Jésus leur dit: O hommes sans intelligence, et dont le coeur est lent à croire tout ce qu'ont dit les prophètes!

²⁵ויאמר אליהם הוי חסרי דעת וכבדי לב מהאמין בכל אשר דברו הנביאים׃

²⁶Behooved it not the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory?

²⁶Ne fallait-il pas que le Christ souffrît ces choses, et qu'il entrât dans sa gloire?

²⁶הלא על המשיח היה לסבל את כל זאת ולבוא אל כבודו׃

²⁷And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

²⁷Et, commençant par Moïse et par tous les prophètes, il leur expliqua dans toutes les Ecritures ce qui le concernait.

²⁷ויחל ממשה ומכל הנביאים ויבאר להם את כל הכתובים הנאמרים עליו׃

²⁸And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they were going: and he made as though he would go further.

²⁸Lorsqu'ils furent près du village où ils allaient, il parut vouloir aller plus loin.

²⁸ויקרבו אל הכפר אשר הם הלכים שמה וישם פניו כהלך לו לדרכו׃

²⁹And they constrained him, saying, Abide with us; for it is toward evening, and the day is now far spent. And he went in to abide with them.

²⁹Mais ils le pressèrent, en disant: Reste avec nous, car le soir approche, le jour est sur son déclin. Et il entra, pour rester avec eux.

²⁹ויפצרו בו לאמר שבה אתנו כי עת ערב הגיע ונטה היום ויבא הביתה לשבת אתם׃

³⁰And it came to pass, when he had sat down with them to meat, he took the bread and blessed; and breaking [it] he gave to them.

³⁰Pendant qu'il était à table avec eux, il prit le pain; et, après avoir rendu grâces, il le rompit, et le leur donna.

³⁰ויהי כאשר הסב עמהם ויקח את הלחם ויברך ויבצע ויתן להם׃

³¹And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

³¹Alors leurs yeux s'ouvrirent, et ils le reconnurent; mais il disparut de devant eux.

³¹ותפקחנה עיניהם ויכירהו והוא חמק עבר מעיניהם׃

³²And they said one to another, Was not our heart burning within us, while he spake to us in the way, while he opened to us the scriptures?

³²Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Notre coeur ne brûlait-il pas au dedans de nous, lorsqu'il nous parlait en chemin et nous expliquait les Ecritures?

³²ויאמרו איש אל רעהו הלא היה בער לבבנו בקרבנו בדברו אלינו בדרך ויפתח לנו את הכתובים׃

³³And they rose up that very hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

³³Se levant à l'heure même, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem, et ils trouvèrent les onze, et ceux qui étaient avec eux, assemblés

³³ויקומו בשעה ההיא וישובו ירושלים וימצאו את עשתי העשר ואת אשר אתם נקהלים יחד׃

³⁴saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

³⁴et disant: Le Seigneur est réellement ressuscité, et il est apparu à Simon.

³⁴האמרים אכן קם האדון מן המתים ונראה אל שמעון׃

³⁵And they rehearsed the things [that happened] in the way, and how he was known of them in the breaking of the bread.

³⁵Et ils racontèrent ce qui leur était arrivé en chemin, et comment ils l'avaient reconnu au moment où il rompit le pain.

³⁵ויספרו גם הם את אשר נעשה להם בדרך ואיך הכירהו בבציעת הלחם׃

³⁶And as they spake these things, he himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you.

³⁶Tandis qu'ils parlaient de la sorte, lui-même se présenta au milieu d'eux, et leur dit: La paix soit avec vous!

³⁶עודם מדברים כדברים האלה והוא ישוע עמד בתוכם ויאמר אליהם שלום לכם׃

³⁷But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they beheld a spirit.

³⁷Saisis de frayeur et d'épouvante, ils croyaient voir un esprit.

³⁷והמה חתו ונבעתו ויחשבו כי רוח ראו׃

³⁸And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and wherefore do questionings arise in your heart?

³⁸Mais il leur dit: Pourquoi êtes-vous troublés, et pourquoi pareilles pensées s'élèvent-elles dans vos coeurs?

³⁸ויאמר אליהם מה זה אתם נבהלים ועל מה זה מחשבות עלות בלבבכם׃

³⁹See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye behold me having.

³⁹Voyez mes mains et mes pieds, c'est bien moi; touchez-moi et voyez: un esprit n'a ni chair ni os, comme vous voyez que j'ai.

³⁹ראו את ידי ואת רגלי כי אנכי הוא משוני וראו כי רוח אין לו בשר ועצמות כאשר אתם ראים שיש לי׃

⁴⁰And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.

⁴⁰Et en disant cela, il leur montra ses mains et ses pieds.

⁴⁰ואחרי אמרו את זאת הראה אתם את ידיו ואת רגליו׃

⁴¹And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here anything to eat?

⁴¹Comme, dans leur joie, ils ne croyaient point encore, et qu'ils étaient dans l'étonnement, il leur dit: Avez-vous ici quelque chose à manger?

⁴¹והם עוד לא האמינו משמחה ותמהו ויאמר אליהם היש לכם פה דבר אכל׃

⁴²And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish.

⁴²Ils lui présentèrent du poisson rôti et un rayon de miel.

⁴²ויתנו לפניו חלק דג צלוי ומעט צוף דבש׃

⁴³And he took it, and ate before them.

⁴³Il en prit, et il mangea devant eux.

⁴³ויקח ויאכל לעיניהם׃

⁴⁴And he said unto them, These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me.

⁴⁴Puis il leur dit: C'est là ce que je vous disais lorsque j'étais encore avec vous, qu'il fallait que s'accomplît tout ce qui est écrit de moi dans la loi de Moïse, dans les prophètes, et dans les psaumes.

⁴⁴ויאמר אליהם אלה הם הדברים אשר דברתי אליכם בעוד היותי עמכם כי המלא ימלא כל הכתוב עלי בתורת משה ובנביאים ובתהלים׃

⁴⁵Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures;

⁴⁵Alors il leur ouvrit l'esprit, afin qu'ils comprissent les Ecritures.

⁴⁵אז פתח את לבבם להבין את הכתובים׃

⁴⁶and he said unto them, Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day;

⁴⁶Et il leur dit: Ainsi il est écrit que le Christ souffrirait, et qu'il ressusciterait des morts le troisième jour,

⁴⁶ויאמר אליהם כן כתוב וכן נגזר אשר יענה המשיח ויקום מן המתים ביום השלישי׃

⁴⁷and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

⁴⁷et que la repentance et le pardon des péchés seraient prêchés en son nom à toutes les nations, à commencer par Jérusalem.

⁴⁷ואשר תקרא בשמו תשובה וסליחת החטאים בכל הגוים החל מירושלים׃

⁴⁸Ye are witnesses of these things.

⁴⁸Vous êtes témoins de ces choses.

⁴⁸ואתם עדים בזאת׃

⁴⁹And behold, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city, until ye be clothed with power from on high.

⁴⁹Et voici, j'enverrai sur vous ce que mon Père a promis; mais vous, restez dans la ville jusqu'à ce que vous soyez revêtus de la puissance d'en haut.

⁴⁹והנני שולח עליכם את הבטחת אבי ואתם שבו בעיר ירושלים עד כי תלבשו עז ממרום׃

⁵⁰And he led them out until [they were] over against Bethany: and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

⁵⁰Il les conduisit jusque vers Béthanie, et, ayant levé les mains, il les bénit.

⁵⁰ויוליכם מחוץ לעיר עד בית היני וישא את ידיו ויברכם׃

⁵¹And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven.

⁵¹Pendant qu'il les bénissait, il se sépara d'eux, et fut enlevé au ciel.

⁵¹ויהי בברכו אתם ויפרד מאתם וינשא השמימה׃

⁵²And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

⁵²Pour eux, après l'avoir adoré, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem avec une grande joie;

⁵²והם השתחוו לו וישובו לירושלים בשמחה גדולה׃

⁵³and were continually in the temple, blessing God.

⁵³et ils étaient continuellement dans le temple, louant et bénissant Dieu.

⁵³ויהיו תמיד במקדש מהללים ומברכים את האלהים אמן׃
