1I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
1Je suis le vrai cep, et mon Père est le vigneron.
1אנכי הגפן האמתית ואבי הוא הכרם׃
2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every [branch] that beareth fruit, he cleanseth it, that it may bear more fruit.
2Tout sarment qui est en moi et qui ne porte pas de fruit, il le retranche; et tout sarment qui porte du fruit, il l'émonde, afin qu'il porte encore plus de fruit.
2כל שריג בי אשר איננו עשה פרי יסירנו ואשר יעשה פרי יטהרנו להרבות את פריו׃
3Already ye are clean because of the word which I have spoken unto you.
3Déjà vous êtes purs, à cause de la parole que je vous ai annoncée.
3אתם כעת מטהרים בעבור דברי אשר דברתי אליכם׃
4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me.
4Demeurez en moi, et je demeurerai en vous. Comme le sarment ne peut de lui-même porter du fruit, s'il ne demeure attaché au cep, ainsi vous ne le pouvez non plus, si vous ne demeurez en moi.
4עמדו בי ואני בכם כאשר השריג בל יעשה פרי מאליו אם לא יעמד בגפן כן גם אתם אם לא תעמדו בי׃
5I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for apart from me ye can do nothing.
5Je suis le cep, vous êtes les sarments. Celui qui demeure en moi et en qui je demeure porte beaucoup de fruit, car sans moi vous ne pouvez rien faire.
5אנכי הוא הגפן ואתם השריגים העמד בי ואני בו הוא יעשה פרי לרב כי בלעדי לא תוכלון עשות מאומה׃
6If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
6Si quelqu'un ne demeure pas en moi, il est jeté dehors, comme le sarment, et il sèche; puis on ramasse les sarments, on les jette au feu, et ils brûlent.
6איש אשר לא יעמד בי השלך כשריג החוצה וייבש וילקטום וישליכום אל תוך האש והיה לבער׃
7If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatsoever ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
7Si vous demeurez en moi, et que mes paroles demeurent en vous, demandez ce que vous voudrez, et cela vous sera accordé.
7והיה אם תעמדו בי ודברי יהיו בכם ככל חפצכם תשאלו ויעשה לכם׃
8Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; and [so] shall ye be my disciples.
8Si vous portez beaucoup de fruit, c'est ainsi que mon Père sera glorifié, et que vous serez mes disciples.
8בזאת נכבד אבי בעשותכם פרי לרב והייתם לי לתלמידים׃
9Even as the Father hath loved me, I also have loved you: abide ye in my love.
9Comme le Père m'a aimé, je vous ai aussi aimés. Demeurez dans mon amour.
9כאשר אהבני אבי אהבתי אתכם גם אני ואתם עמדו באהבתי׃
10If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
10Si vous gardez mes commandements, vous demeurerez dans mon amour, de même que j'ai gardé les commandements de mon Père, et que je demeure dans son amour.
10אם תשמרו את מצותי תעמדו באהבתי כאשר שמרתי גם אני את מצות אבי ועמדתי באהבתו׃
11These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may be in you, and [that] your joy may be made full.
11Je vous ai dit ces choses, afin que ma joie soit en vous, et que votre joie soit parfaite.
11את אלה דברתי אליכם בעבור תהיה שמחתי בכם ותמלא שמחתכם׃
12This is my commandment, that ye love one another, even as I have loved you.
12C'est ici mon commandement: Aimez-vous les uns les autres, comme je vous ai aimés.
12הנה זאת מצותי כי תאהבון איש את אחיו כאשר אהבתיכם׃
13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
13Il n'y a pas de plus grand amour que de donner sa vie pour ses amis.
13אין לאיש אהבה יתרה מתתו את נפשו בעד ידידיו׃
14Ye are my friends, if ye do the things which I command you.
14Vous êtes mes amis, si vous faites ce que je vous commande.
14ואתם ידידי אתם אם תעשו את אשר אני מצוה אתכם׃
15No longer do I call you servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I heard from my Father, I have made known unto you.
15Je ne vous appelle plus serviteurs, parce que le serviteur ne sait pas ce que fait son maître; mais je vous ai appelés amis, parce que je vous ai fait connaître tout ce que j'ai appris de mon Père.
15לא אקרא לכם עוד עבדים כי העבד איננו ידע את אשר יעשה אדניו כי אם אמרתי ידידי אתם כי כל אשר שמעתי מאת אבי הודעתי אתכם׃
16Ye did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and [that] your fruit should abide: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
16Ce n'est pas vous qui m'avez choisi; mais moi, je vous ai choisis, et je vous ai établis, afin que vous alliez, et que vous portiez du fruit, et que votre fruit demeure, afin que ce que vous demanderez au Père en mon nom, il vous le donne.
16לא אתם בחרתם בי כי אם אנכי בחרתי בכם והפקדתי אתכם ללכת ולעשות פרי ופריכם יקום והיה כל אשר תשאלו מאבי בשמי יתן לכם׃
17These things I command you, that ye may love one another.
17Ce que je vous commande, c'est de vous aimer les uns les autres.
17את אלה אני מצוה אתכם למען תאהבון איש את אחיו׃
18If the world hateth you, ye know that it hath hated me before [it hated] you.
18Si le monde vous hait, sachez qu'il m'a haï avant vous.
18אם העולם שנא אתכם דעו כי אתי שנא ראשונה׃
19If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
19Si vous étiez du monde, le monde aimerait ce qui est à lui; mais parce que vous n'êtes pas du monde, et que je vous ai choisis du milieu du monde, à cause de cela le monde vous hait.
19אלו מן העולם הייתם כי אז אהב העולם את אשר לו ויען כי אינכם מן העולם כי אם בחרתי אתכם מתוך העולם לכן העולם ישנא אתכם׃
20Remember the word that I said unto you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.
20Souvenez-vous de la parole que je vous ai dite: Le serviteur n'est pas plus grand que son maître. S'ils m'ont persécuté, ils vous persécuteront aussi; s'ils ont gardé ma parole, ils garderont aussi la vôtre.
20זכרו את דברי אשר דברתי אליכם העבד איננו גדול מאדניו אם רדפו אתי גם אתכם ירדפו אם שמרו את דברי גם את דברכם ישמרו׃
21But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
21Mais ils vous feront toutes ces choses à cause de mon nom, parce qu'ils ne connaissent pas celui qui m'a envoyé.
21אבל כל זאת יעשו לכם בעבור שמי כי לא ידעו את שלחי׃
22If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin.
22Si je n'étais pas venu et que je ne leur eusse point parlé, ils n'auraient pas de péché; mais maintenant ils n'ont aucune excuse de leur péché.
22לולא באתי ודברתי אליהם לא היה בהם חטא ועתה לא יוכלון להתנצל על חטאתם׃
23He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
23Celui qui me hait, hait aussi mon Père.
23השנא אתי ישנא גם את אבי׃
24If I had not done among them the works which none other did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
24Si je n'avais pas fait parmi eux des oeuvres que nul autre n'a faites, ils n'auraient pas de péché; mais maintenant ils les ont vues, et ils ont haï et moi et mon Père.
24לולא עשיתי בתוכם את המעשים אשר איש זולתי לא עשה לא היה בהם חטא ועתה ראו וישנאו גם אתי גם את אבי׃
25But [this cometh to pass], that the word may be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
25Mais cela est arrivé afin que s'accomplît la parole qui est écrite dans leur loi: Ils m'ont haï sans cause.
25אך למלאת דבר הכתוב בתורתם שנאת חנם שנאוני׃
26But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall bear witness of me:
26Quand sera venu le consolateur, que je vous enverrai de la part du Père, l'Esprit de vérité, qui vient du Père, il rendra témoignage de moi;
26ובבוא הפרקליט אשר אשלחנו לכם מאת אבי רוח האמת היוצא מאת אבי הוא יעיד עלי׃
27and ye also bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
27et vous aussi, vous rendrez témoignage, parce que vous êtes avec moi dès le commencement.
27וגם אתם תעידו כי מראש הייתם עמדי׃
