¹And the children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, when Ehud was dead.

¹ויספו בני ישראל לעשות הרע בעיני יהוה ואהוד מת׃

²And Jehovah sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.

²Et l'Eternel les vendit entre les mains de Jabin, roi de Canaan, qui régnait à Hatsor. Le chef de son armée était Sisera, et habitait à Haroscheth-Goïm.

²וימכרם יהוה ביד יבין מלך כנען אשר מלך בחצור ושר צבאו סיסרא והוא יושב בחרשת הגוים׃

³And the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.

³Les enfants d'Israël crièrent à l'Eternel, car Jabin avait neuf cents chars de fer, et il opprimait avec violence les enfants d'Israël depuis vingt ans.

³ויצעקו בני ישראל אל יהוה כי תשע מאות רכב ברזל לו והוא לחץ את בני ישראל בחזקה עשרים שנה׃

⁴Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

⁴Dans ce temps-là, Débora, prophétesse, femme de Lappidoth, était juge en Israël.

⁴ודבורה אשה נביאה אשת לפידות היא שפטה את ישראל בעת ההיא׃

⁵And she dwelt under the palm-tree of Deborah between Ramah and Beth-el in the hill-country of Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.

⁵Elle siégeait sous le palmier de Débora, entre Rama et Béthel, dans la montagne d'Ephraïm; et les enfants d'Israël montaient vers elle pour être jugés.

⁵והיא יושבת תחת תמר דבורה בין הרמה ובין בית אל בהר אפרים ויעלו אליה בני ישראל למשפט׃

⁶And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not Jehovah, the God of Israel, commanded, [saying], Go and draw unto mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?

⁶Elle envoya appeler Barak, fils d'Abinoam, de Kédesch-Nephthali, et elle lui dit: N'est-ce pas l'ordre qu'a donné l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël? Va, dirige-toi sur le mont Thabor, et prends avec toi dix mille hommes des enfants de Nephthali et des enfants de Zabulon;

⁶ותשלח ותקרא לברק בן אבינעם מקדש נפתלי ותאמר אליו הלא צוה יהוה אלהי ישראל לך ומשכת בהר תבור ולקחת עמך עשרת אלפים איש מבני נפתלי ומבני זבלון׃

⁷And I will draw unto thee, to the river Kishon, Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thy hand.

⁷j'attirerai vers toi, au torrent de Kison, Sisera, chef de l'armée de Jabin, avec ses chars et ses troupes, et je le livrerai entre tes mains.

⁷ומשכתי אליך אל נחל קישון את סיסרא שר צבא יבין ואת רכבו ואת המונו ונתתיהו בידך׃

⁸And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go; but if thou wilt not go with me, I will not go.

⁸Barak lui dit: Si tu viens avec moi, j'irai; mais si tu ne viens pas avec moi, je n'irai pas.

⁸ויאמר אליה ברק אם תלכי עמי והלכתי ואם לא תלכי עמי לא אלך׃

⁹And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding, the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honor; for Jehovah will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.

⁹Elle répondit: J'irai bien avec toi; mais tu n'auras point de gloire sur la voie où tu marches, car l'Eternel livrera Sisera entre les mains d'une femme. Et Débora se leva, et elle se rendit avec Barak à Kédesch.

⁹ותאמר הלך אלך עמך אפס כי לא תהיה תפארתך על הדרך אשר אתה הולך כי ביד אשה ימכר יהוה את סיסרא ותקם דבורה ותלך עם ברק קדשה׃

¹⁰And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali together to Kedesh; and there went up ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.

¹⁰Barak convoqua Zabulon et Nephthali à Kédesch; dix mille hommes marchèrent à sa suite, et Débora partit avec lui.

¹⁰ויזעק ברק את זבולן ואת נפתלי קדשה ויעל ברגליו עשרת אלפי איש ותעל עמו דבורה׃

¹¹Now Heber the Kenite had separated himself from the Kenites, even from the children of Hobab the brother-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far as the oak in Zaanannim, which is by Kedesh.

¹¹Héber, le Kénien, s'était séparé des Kéniens, des fils de Hobab, beau-père de Moïse, et il avait dressé sa tente jusqu'au chêne de Tsaannaïm, près de Kédesch.

¹¹וחבר הקיני נפרד מקין מבני חבב חתן משה ויט אהלו עד אלון בצענים אשר את קדש׃

¹²And they told Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor.

¹²On informa Sisera que Barak, fils d'Abinoam, s'était dirigé sur le mont Thabor.

¹²ויגדו לסיסרא כי עלה ברק בן אבינעם הר תבור׃

¹³And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles, unto the river Kishon.

¹³Et, depuis Haroscheth-Goïm, Sisera rassembla vers le torrent de Kison tous ses chars, neuf cents chars de fer, et tout le peuple qui était avec lui.

¹³ויזעק סיסרא את כל רכבו תשע מאות רכב ברזל ואת כל העם אשר אתו מחרשת הגוים אל נחל קישון׃

¹⁴And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which Jehovah hath delivered Sisera into thy hand; is not Jehovah gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.

¹⁴Alors Débora dit à Barak: Lève-toi, car voici le jour où l'Eternel livre Sisera entre tes mains. L'Eternel ne marche-t-il pas devant toi? Et Barak descendit du mont Thabor, ayant dix mille hommes à sa suite.

¹⁴ותאמר דברה אל ברק קום כי זה היום אשר נתן יהוה את סיסרא בידך הלא יהוה יצא לפניך וירד ברק מהר תבור ועשרת אלפים איש אחריו׃

¹⁵And Jehovah discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; and Sisera alighted from his chariot, and fled away on his feet.

¹⁵L'Eternel mit en déroute devant Barak, par le tranchant de l'épée, Sisera, tous ses chars et tout le camp. Sisera descendit de son char, et s'enfuit à pied.

¹⁵ויהם יהוה את סיסרא ואת כל הרכב ואת כל המחנה לפי חרב לפני ברק וירד סיסרא מעל המרכבה וינס ברגליו׃

¹⁶But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; there was not a man left.

¹⁶Barak poursuivit les chars et l'armée jusqu'à Haroscheth-Goïm; et toute l'armée de Sisera tomba sous le tranchant de l'épée, sans qu'il en restât un seul homme.

¹⁶וברק רדף אחרי הרכב ואחרי המחנה עד חרשת הגוים ויפל כל מחנה סיסרא לפי חרב לא נשאר עד אחד׃

¹⁷Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite; for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.

¹⁷Sisera se réfugia à pied dans la tente de Jaël, femme de Héber, le Kénien; car il y avait paix entre Jabin, roi de Hatsor, et la maison de Héber, le Kénien.

¹⁷וסיסרא נס ברגליו אל אהל יעל אשת חבר הקיני כי שלום בין יבין מלך חצור ובין בית חבר הקיני׃

¹⁸And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And he turned in unto her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug.

¹⁸Jaël sortit au-devant de Sisera, et lui dit: Entre, mon seigneur, entre chez moi, ne crains point. Il entra chez elle dans la tente, et elle le cacha sous une couverture.

¹⁸ותצא יעל לקראת סיסרא ותאמר אליו סורה אדני סורה אלי אל תירא ויסר אליה האהלה ותכסהו בשמיכה׃

¹⁹And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.

¹⁹Il lui dit: Donne-moi, je te prie, un peu d'eau à boire, car j'ai soif. Elle ouvrit l'outre du lait, lui donna à boire, et le couvrit.

¹⁹ויאמר אליה השקיני נא מעט מים כי צמאתי ותפתח את נאוד החלב ותשקהו ותכסהו׃

²⁰And he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and inquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.

²⁰Il lui dit encore: Tiens-toi à l'entrée de la tente, et si l'on vient t'interroger en disant: Y a-t-il ici quelqu'un? tu répondras: Non.

²⁰ויאמר אליה עמד פתח האהל והיה אם איש יבוא ושאלך ואמר היש פה איש ואמרת אין׃

²¹Then Jael Heber's wife took a tent-pin, and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the pin into his temples, and it pierced through into the ground; for he was in a deep sleep; so he swooned and died.

²¹Jaël, femme de Héber, saisit un pieu de la tente, prit en main le marteau, s'approcha de lui doucement, et lui enfonça dans la tempe le pieu, qui pénétra en terre. Il était profondément endormi et accablé de fatigue; et il mourut.

²¹ותקח יעל אשת חבר את יתד האהל ותשם את המקבת בידה ותבוא אליו בלאט ותתקע את היתד ברקתו ותצנח בארץ והוא נרדם ויעף וימת׃

²²And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will show thee the man whom thou seekest. And he came unto her; and, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the tent-pin was in his temples.

²²Comme Barak poursuivait Sisera, Jaël sortit à sa rencontre et lui dit: Viens, et je te montrerai l'homme que tu cherches. Il entra chez elle, et voici, Sisera était étendu mort, le pieu dans la tempe.

²²והנה ברק רדף את סיסרא ותצא יעל לקראתו ותאמר לו לך ואראך את האיש אשר אתה מבקש ויבא אליה והנה סיסרא נפל מת והיתד ברקתו׃

²³So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel.

²³En ce jour, Dieu humilia Jabin, roi de Canaan, devant les enfants d'Israël.

²³ויכנע אלהים ביום ההוא את יבין מלך כנען לפני בני ישראל׃

²⁴And the hand of the children of Israel prevailed more and more against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.

²⁴Et la main des enfants d'Israël s'appesantit de plus en plus sur Jabin, roi de Canaan, jusqu'à ce qu'ils eussent exterminé Jabin, roi de Canaan.

²⁴ותלך יד בני ישראל הלוך וקשה על יבין מלך כנען עד אשר הכריתו את יבין מלך כנען׃
