¹Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

¹En ce jour-là, Débora chanta ce cantique, avec Barak, fils d'Abinoam:

¹ותשר דבורה וברק בן אבינעם ביום ההוא לאמר׃

²For that the leaders took the lead in Israel, For that the people offered themselves willingly, Bless ye Jehovah.

²Des chefs se sont mis à la tête du peuple en Israël, Et le peuple s'est montré prêt à combattre: Bénissez-en l'Eternel!

²בפרע פרעות בישראל בהתנדב עם ברכו יהוה׃

³Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, [even] I, will sing unto Jehovah; I will sing praise to Jehovah, the God of Israel.

³Rois, écoutez! Princes, prêtez l'oreille! Je chanterai, oui, je chanterai à l'Eternel, Je chanterai à l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël.

³שמעו מלכים האזינו רזנים אנכי ליהוה אנכי אשירה אזמר ליהוה אלהי ישראל׃

⁴Jehovah, when thou wentest forth out of Seir, When thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, The earth trembled, the heavens also dropped, Yea, the clouds dropped water.

⁴O Eternel! quand tu sortis de Séir, Quand tu t'avanças des champs d'Edom, La terre trembla, et les cieux se fondirent Et les nuées se fondirent en eaux;

⁴יהוה בצאתך משעיר בצעדך משדה אדום ארץ רעשה גם שמים נטפו גם עבים נטפו מים׃

⁵The mountains quaked at the presence of Jehovah, Even yon Sinai at the presence of Jehovah, the God of Israel.

⁵Les montagnes s'ébranlèrent devant l'Eternel, Ce Sinaï devant l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël.

⁵הרים נזלו מפני יהוה זה סיני מפני יהוה אלהי ישראל׃

⁶In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, In the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, And the travellers walked through byways.

⁶Au temps de Schamgar, fils d'Anath, Au temps de Jaël, les routes étaient abandonnées, Et ceux qui voyageaient prenaient des chemins détournés.

⁶בימי שמגר בן ענת בימי יעל חדלו ארחות והלכי נתיבות ילכו ארחות עקלקלות׃

⁷The rulers ceased in Israel, they ceased, Until that I Deborah arose, That I arose a mother in Israel.

⁷Les chefs étaient sans force en Israël, sans force, Quand je me suis levée, moi, Débora, Quand je me suis levée comme une mère en Israël.

⁷חדלו פרזון בישראל חדלו עד שקמתי דבורה שקמתי אם בישראל׃

⁸They chose new gods; Then was war in the gates: Was there a shield or spear seen Among forty thousand in Israel?

⁸Il avait choisi de nouveaux dieux: Alors la guerre était aux portes; On ne voyait ni bouclier ni lance Chez quarante milliers en Israël.

⁸יבחר אלהים חדשים אז לחם שערים מגן אם יראה ורמח בארבעים אלף בישראל׃

⁹My heart is toward the governors of Israel, That offered themselves willingly among the people: Bless ye Jehovah.

⁹Mon coeur est aux chefs d'Israël, A ceux du peuple qui se sont montrés prêts à combattre. Bénissez l'Eternel!

⁹לבי לחוקקי ישראל המתנדבים בעם ברכו יהוה׃

¹⁰Tell [of it], ye that ride on white asses, Ye that sit on rich carpets, And ye that walk by the way.

¹⁰Vous qui montez de blanches ânesses, Vous qui avez pour sièges des tapis, Et vous qui marchez sur la route, chantez!

¹⁰רכבי אתנות צחרות ישבי על מדין והלכי על דרך שיחו׃

¹¹Far from the noise of archers, in the places of drawing water, There shall they rehearse the righteous acts of Jehovah, [Even] the righteous acts of his rule in Israel. Then the people of Jehovah went down to the gates.

¹¹Que de leur voix les archers, du milieu des abreuvoirs, Célèbrent les bienfaits de l'Eternel, Les bienfaits de son conducteur en Israël! Alors le peuple de l'Eternel descendit aux portes.

¹¹מקול מחצצים בין משאבים שם יתנו צדקות יהוה צדקת פרזנו בישראל אז ירדו לשערים עם יהוה׃

¹²Awake, awake, Deborah; Awake, awake, utter a song: Arise, Barak, and lead away thy captives, thou son of Abinoam.

¹²Réveille-toi, réveille-toi, Débora! Réveille-toi, réveille-toi, dis un cantique! Lève-toi, Barak, et emmène tes captifs, fils d'Abinoam!

¹²עורי עורי דבורה עורי עורי דברי שיר קום ברק ושבה שביך בן אבינעם׃

¹³Then came down a remnant of the nobles [and] the people; Jehovah came down for me against the mighty.

¹³Alors un reste du peuple triompha des puissants, L'Eternel me donna la victoire sur les héros.

¹³אז ירד שריד לאדירים עם יהוה ירד לי בגבורים׃

¹⁴Out of Ephraim [came down] they whose root is in Amalek; After thee, Benjamin, among thy peoples; Out of Machir came down governors, And out of Zebulun they that handle the marshal's staff.

¹⁴D'Ephraïm arrivèrent les habitants d'Amalek. A ta suite marcha Benjamin parmi ta troupe. De Makir vinrent des chefs, Et de Zabulon des commandants.

¹⁴מני אפרים שרשם בעמלק אחריך בנימין בעממיך מני מכיר ירדו מחקקים ומזבולן משכים בשבט ספר׃

¹⁵And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; As was Issachar, so was Barak; Into the valley they rushed forth at his feet. By the watercourses of Reuben There were great resolves of heart.

¹⁵Les princes d'Issacar furent avec Débora, Et Issacar suivit Barak, Il fut envoyé sur ses pas dans la vallée. Près des ruisseaux de Ruben, Grandes furent les résolutions du coeur!

¹⁵ושרי ביששכר עם דברה ויששכר כן ברק בעמק שלח ברגליו בפלגות ראובן גדלים חקקי לב׃

¹⁶Why sattest thou among the sheepfolds, To hear the pipings for the flocks? At the watercourses of Reuben There were great searchings of heart.

¹⁶Pourquoi es-tu resté au milieu des étables A écouter le bêlement des troupeaux? Aux ruisseaux de Ruben, Grandes furent les délibérations du coeur!

¹⁶למה ישבת בין המשפתים לשמע שרקות עדרים לפלגות ראובן גדולים חקרי לב׃

¹⁷Gilead abode beyond the Jordan: And Dan, why did he remain in ships? Asher sat still at the haven of the sea, And abode by his creeks.

¹⁷Galaad au delà du Jourdain n'a pas quitté sa demeure. Pourquoi Dan s'est-il tenu sur les navires? Aser s'est assis sur le rivage de la mer, Et s'est reposé dans ses ports.

¹⁷גלעד בעבר הירדן שכן ודן למה יגור אניות אשר ישב לחוף ימים ועל מפרציו ישכון׃

¹⁸Zebulun was a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death, And Naphtali, upon the high places of the field.

¹⁸Zabulon est un peuple qui affronta la mort, Et Nephthali de même, Sur les hauteurs des champs.

¹⁸זבלון עם חרף נפשו למות ונפתלי על מרומי שדה׃

¹⁹The kings came and fought; Then fought the kings of Canaan. In Taanach by the waters of Megiddo: They took no gain of money.

¹⁹Les rois vinrent, ils combattirent, Alors combattirent les rois de Canaan, A Thaanac, aux eaux de Meguiddo; Ils ne remportèrent nul butin, nul argent.

¹⁹באו מלכים נלחמו אז נלחמו מלכי כנען בתענך על מי מגדו בצע כסף לא לקחו׃

²⁰From heaven fought the stars, From their courses they fought against Sisera.

²⁰Des cieux on combattit, De leurs sentiers les étoiles combattirent contre Sisera.

²⁰מן שמים נלחמו הכוכבים ממסלותם נלחמו עם סיסרא׃

²¹The river Kishon swept them away, That ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, march on with strength.

²¹Le torrent de Kison les a entraînés, Le torrent des anciens temps, le torrent de Kison. Mon âme, foule aux pieds les héros!

²¹נחל קישון גרפם נחל קדומים נחל קישון תדרכי נפשי עז׃

²²Then did the horsehoofs stamp By reason of the prancings, the prancings of their strong ones.

²²Alors les talons des chevaux retentirent, A la fuite, à la fuite précipitée de leurs guerriers.

²²אז הלמו עקבי סוס מדהרות דהרות אביריו׃

²³Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of Jehovah. Curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof, Because they came not to the help of Jehovah, To the help of Jehovah against the mighty.

²³Maudissez Méroz, dit l'ange de l'Eternel, Maudissez, maudissez ses habitants, Car ils ne vinrent pas au secours de l'Eternel, Au secours de l'Eternel, parmi les hommes vaillants.

²³אורו מרוז אמר מלאך יהוה ארו ארור ישביה כי לא באו לעזרת יהוה לעזרת יהוה בגבורים׃

²⁴Blessed above women shall Jael be, The wife of Heber the Kenite; Blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

²⁴Bénie soit entre les femmes Jaël, Femme de Héber, le Kénien! Bénie soit-elle entre les femmes qui habitent sous les tentes!

²⁴תברך מנשים יעל אשת חבר הקיני מנשים באהל תברך׃

²⁵He asked water, [and] she gave him milk; She brought him butter in a lordly dish.

²⁵Il demanda de l'eau, elle a donné du lait, Dans la coupe d'honneur elle a présenté de la crème.

²⁵מים שאל חלב נתנה בספל אדירים הקריבה חמאה׃

²⁶She put her hand to the tent-pin, And her right hand to the workmen's hammer; And with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote through his head; Yea, she pierced and struck through his temples.

²⁶D'une main elle a saisi le pieu, Et de sa droite le marteau des travailleurs; Elle a frappé Sisera, lui a fendu la tête, Fracassé et transpercé la tempe.

²⁶ידה ליתד תשלחנה וימינה להלמות עמלים והלמה סיסרא מחקה ראשו ומחצה וחלפה רקתו׃

²⁷At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay; At her feet he bowed, he fell; Where he bowed, there he fell down dead.

²⁷Aux pieds de Jaël il s'est affaissé, il est tombé, il s'est couché; A ses pieds il s'est affaissé, il est tombé; Là où il s'est affaissé, là il est tombé sans vie.

²⁷בין רגליה כרע נפל שכב בין רגליה כרע נפל באשר כרע שם נפל שדוד׃

²⁸Through the window she looked forth, and cried, The mother of Sisera [cried] through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why tarry the wheels of his chariots?

²⁸Par la fenêtre, à travers le treillis, La mère de Sisera regarde, et s'écrie: Pourquoi son char tarde-t-il à venir? Pourquoi ses chars vont-ils si lentement?

²⁸בעד החלון נשקפה ותיבב אם סיסרא בעד האשנב מדוע בשש רכבו לבוא מדוע אחרו פעמי מרכבותיו׃

²⁹Her wise ladies answered her, Yea, she returned answer to herself,

²⁹Les plus sages d'entre ses femmes lui répondent, Et elle se répond à elle-même:

²⁹חכמות שרותיה תענינה אף היא תשיב אמריה לה׃

³⁰Have they not found, have they not divided the spoil? A damsel, two damsels to every man; To Sisera a spoil of dyed garments, A spoil of dyed garments embroidered, Of dyed garments embroidered on both sides, on the necks of the spoil?

³⁰Ne trouvent-ils pas du butin? ne le partagent-ils pas? Une jeune fille, deux jeunes filles par homme, Du butin en vêtements de couleur pour Sisera, Du butin en vêtements de couleur, brodés, Un vêtement de couleur, deux vêtements brodés, Pour le cou du vainqueur.

³⁰הלא ימצאו יחלקו שלל רחם רחמתים לראש גבר שלל צבעים לסיסרא שלל צבעים רקמה צבע רקמתים לצוארי שלל׃

³¹So let all thine enemies perish, O Jehovah: But let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

³¹Périssent ainsi tous tes ennemis, ô Eternel! Ceux qui l'aiment sont comme le soleil, Quand il paraît dans sa force. Le pays fut en repos pendant quarante ans.

³¹כן יאבדו כל אויביך יהוה ואהביו כצאת השמש בגברתו ותשקט הארץ ארבעים שנה׃
