1And he spake a parable unto them to the end that they ought always to pray, and not to faint;
1Jésus leur adressa une parabole, pour montrer qu'il faut toujours prier, et ne point se relâcher.
1וגם משל דבר אליהם להתפלל תמיד ולא להתרפות׃
2saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, and regarded not man:
2Il dit: Il y avait dans une ville un juge qui ne craignait point Dieu et qui n'avait d'égard pour personne.
2ויאמר שופט היה בעיר אחת אשר לא ירא את האלהים ולא נשא פנים לאדם׃
3and there was a widow in that city; and she came oft unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
3Il y avait aussi dans cette ville une veuve qui venait lui dire: Fais-moi justice de ma partie adverse.
3ואלמנה היתה בעיר ההיא ותבא אליו לאמר דינה את דיני ממריבי׃
4And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
4Pendant longtemps il refusa. Mais ensuite il dit en lui-même: Quoique je ne craigne point Dieu et que je n'aie d'égard pour personne,
4וימאן מיום אל יום ואחרי כן אמר בנפשו גם כי את האלהים אינני ירא ולאדם לא אשא פנים׃
5yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest she wear me out by her continual coming.
5néanmoins, parce que cette veuve m'importune, je lui ferai justice, afin qu'elle ne vienne pas sans cesse me rompre la tête.
5אעשה את דין האלמנה הזאת על הוגיעה אתי פן תבוא תמיד ותדכאני במלים׃
6And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge saith.
6Le Seigneur ajouta: Entendez ce que dit le juge inique.
6ויאמר האדון שמעו את אשר אמר דין העולה׃
7And shall not God avenge his elect, that cry to him day and night, and [yet] he is longsuffering over them?
7Et Dieu ne fera-t-il pas justice à ses élus, qui crient à lui jour et nuit, et tardera-t-il à leur égard?
7והאלהים הלא הוא יעשה דין בחיריו הקראים אליו יומם ולילה גם כי יתמהמה להושיעם׃
8I say unto you, that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
8Je vous le dis, il leur fera promptement justice. Mais, quand le Fils de l'homme viendra, trouvera-t-il la foi sur la terre?
8אני אמר לכם כי יעשה את דינם במהרה אך בן האדם בבאו הימצא אמונה בארץ׃
9And he spake also this parable unto certain who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and set all others at nought:
9Il dit encore cette parabole, en vue de certaines personnes se persuadant qu'elles étaient justes, et ne faisant aucun cas des autres:
9ויוסף וישא משלו אל אנשים בטחים בנפשם כי צדיקים המה ואחרים נבזים בעיניהם ויאמר׃
10Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
10Deux hommes montèrent au temple pour prier; l'un était pharisien, et l'autre publicain.
10שני אנשים עלו אל המקדש להתפלל האחד פרוש והאחד מוכס׃
11The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
11Le pharisien, debout, priait ainsi en lui-même: O Dieu, je te rends grâces de ce que je ne suis pas comme le reste des hommes, qui sont ravisseurs, injustes, adultères, ou même comme ce publicain;
11ויתיצב הפרוש לבדו ויתפלל לאמר אלהים אודך כי אינני כאשר האדם הגזלים והעשקים והנאפים או גם כמכס הזה׃
12I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I get.
12je jeûne deux fois la semaine, je donne la dîme de tous mes revenus.
12אני צם פעמים בשבוע אני מעשר את כל קניני׃
13But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be thou merciful to me a sinner.
13Le publicain, se tenant à distance, n'osait même pas lever les yeux au ciel; mais il se frappait la poitrine, en disant: O Dieu, sois apaisé envers moi, qui suis un pécheur.
13והמוכס היה עמד מרחוק ולא אבה אף לשאת את עיניו לשמים כי אם תופף על לבו לאמר אלהים סלח לי החוטא׃
14I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
14Je vous le dis, celui-ci descendit dans sa maison justifié, plutôt que l'autre. Car quiconque s'élève sera abaissé, et celui qui s'abaisse sera élevé.
14אני אמר לכם כי ירד זה לביתו נצדק מזה כי כל המרים את נפשו ישפל ואשר ישפילה ירומם׃
15And they were bringing unto him also their babes, that he should touch them: but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
15On lui amena aussi les petits enfants, afin qu'il les touchât. Mais les disciples, voyant cela, reprenaient ceux qui les amenaient.
15ויביאו אליו גם את הילדים למען יגע בהם ויראו התלמידים ויגערו בם׃
16But Jesus called them unto him, saying, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for to such belongeth the kingdom of God.
16Et Jésus les appela, et dit: Laissez venir à moi les petits enfants, et ne les en empêchez pas; car le royaume de Dieu est pour ceux qui leur ressemblent.
16ויקרא אתם ישוע אליו ויאמר הניחו לילדים לבוא אלי ואל תמנעום כי לאלה מלכות האלהים׃
17Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein.
17Je vous le dis en vérité, quiconque ne recevra pas le royaume de Dieu comme un petit enfant n'y entrera point.
17אמן אמר אני לכם כל אשר לא יקבל את מלכות האלהים כילד הוא לא יבא בה׃
18And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
18Un chef interrogea Jésus, et dit: Bon maître, que dois-je faire pour hériter la vie éternelle?
18וישאלהו קצין אחד לאמר רבי הטוב מה לי לעשות ואירש חיי עולמים׃
19And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, [even] God.
19Jésus lui répondit: Pourquoi m'appelles-tu bon? Il n'y a de bon que Dieu seul.
19ויאמר אליו ישוע מדוע קראת לי טוב אין טוב בלתי אחד האלהים׃
20Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor thy father and mother.
20Tu connais les commandements: Tu ne commettras point d'adultère; tu ne tueras point; tu ne déroberas point; tu ne diras point de faux témoignage; honore ton père et ta mère.
20את המצות אתה יודע לא תנאף לא תרצח לא תגנב לא תענה עד שקר כבד את אביך ואת אמך׃
21And he said, All these things have I observed from my youth up.
21J'ai, dit-il, observé toutes ces choses dès ma jeunesse.
21ויאמר את כל אלה שמרתי מנעורי׃
22And when Jesus heard it, he said unto him, One thing thou lackest yet: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
22Jésus, ayant entendu cela, lui dit: Il te manque encore une chose: vends tout ce que tu as, distribue- le aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans les cieux. Puis, viens, et suis-moi.
22וישמע ישוע ויאמר עוד אחת חסרת מכר את כל אשר לך וחלק לעניים ויהי לך אוצר בשמים ובוא ולך אחרי׃
23But when he heard these things, he became exceeding sorrowful; for he was very rich.
23Lorsqu'il entendit ces paroles, il devint tout triste; car il était très riche.
23ויהי כשמעו את זאת ויעצב מאד כי עשר גדול היה לו׃
24And Jesus seeing him said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
24Jésus, voyant qu'il était devenu tout triste, dit: Qu'il est difficile à ceux qui ont des richesses d'entrer dans le royaume de Dieu!
24וירא ישוע כי נעצב ויאמר כמה יקשה לבעלי נכסים לבוא אל מלכות האלהים׃
25For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
25Car il est plus facile à un chameau de passer par le trou d'une aiguille qu'à un riche d'entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.
25כי נקל לגמל עבר בתוך נקב המחט מבוא עשיר אל מלכות האלהים׃
26And they that heard it said, Then who can be saved?
26Ceux qui l'écoutaient dirent: Et qui peut être sauvé?
26ויאמרו השמעים ומי יוכל להושע׃
27But he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
27Jésus répondit: Ce qui est impossible aux hommes est possible à Dieu.
27ויאמר מה שיפלא מבני אדם לא יפלא מאלהים׃
28And Peter said, Lo, we have left our own, and followed thee.
28Pierre dit alors: Voici, nous avons tout quitté, et nous t'avons suivi.
28ויאמר פטרוס הן אנחנו עזבנו את הכל ונלך אחריך׃
29And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or wife, or brethren, or parents, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
29Et Jésus leur dit: Je vous le dis en vérité, il n'est personne qui, ayant quitté, à cause du royaume de Dieu, sa maison, ou sa femme, ou ses frères, ou ses parents, ou ses enfants,
29ויאמר אליהם אמן אמר אני לכם אין איש אשר עזב את ביתו או את אבותיו או את אחיו או את אשתו או את בניו למען מלכות האלהים׃
30who shall not receive manifold more in this time, and in the world to come eternal life.
30ne reçoive beaucoup plus dans ce siècle-ci, et, dans le siècle à venir, la vie éternelle.
30ולא יקח תחתיהם כפלים הרבה בעולם הזה ובעולם הבא חיי עולמים׃
31And he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets shall be accomplished unto the Son of man.
31Jésus prit les douze auprès de lui, et leur dit: Voici, nous montons à Jérusalem, et tout ce qui a été écrit par les prophètes au sujet du Fils de l'homme s'accomplira.
31ויקח אליו את שנים העשר ויאמר להם הננו עלים ירושלימה וימלא כל הכתוב בידי הנביאים על בן האדם׃
32For he shall be delivered up unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and shamefully treated, and spit upon:
32Car il sera livré aux païens; on se moquera de lui, on l'outragera, on crachera sur lui,
32כי ימסר לגוים ויהתלו בו ויתעללו בו וירקו בפניו׃
33and they shall scourge and kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
33et, après l'avoir battu de verges, on le fera mourir; et le troisième jour il ressuscitera.
33ואחרי הכותם אתו בשוטים ימיתוהו וביום השלישי קום יקום׃
34And they understood none of these things; and this saying was hid from them, and they perceived not the things that were said.
34Mais ils ne comprirent rien à cela; c'était pour eux un langage caché, des paroles dont ils ne saisissaient pas le sens.
34והם לא הבינו מאומה ויהי הדבר הזה נעלם מהם ולא ידעו את הנאמר׃
35And it came to pass, as he drew nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:
35Comme Jésus approchait de Jéricho, un aveugle était assis au bord du chemin, et mendiait.
35ויהי בקרבו אל יריחו והנה איש עור ישב על הדרך והוא משאל׃
36and hearing a multitude going by, he inquired what this meant.
36Entendant la foule passer, il demanda ce que c'était.
36וישמע את קול העם העבר וידרש לדעת מה זאת׃
37And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
37On lui dit: C'est Jésus de Nazareth qui passe.
37ויגידו לו כי ישוע הנצרי עובר׃
38And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.
38Et il cria: Jésus, Fils de David, aie pitié de moi!
38ויצעק לאמר ישוע בן דוד חנני׃
39And they that went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
39Ceux qui marchaient devant le reprenaient, pour le faire taire; mais il criait beaucoup plus fort: Fils de David, aie pitié de moi!
39וההלכים בראשנה גערו בו להחשתו והוא הרבה עוד לצעק ישוע בן דוד חנני׃
40And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
40Jésus, s'étant arrêté, ordonna qu'on le lui amène; et, quand il se fut approché, il lui demanda:
40ויעמד ישוע ויצו להביאו אליו ויהי כאשר קרב וישאלהו לאמר׃
41What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
41Que veux-tu que je te fasse? Il répondit: Seigneur, que je recouvre la vue.
41מה חפצך כי אעשה לך ויאמר אדני כי אראה׃
42And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight; thy faith hath made thee whole.
42Et Jésus lui dit: Recouvre la vue; ta foi t'a sauvé.
42ויאמר אליו ראה אמונתך הושיעה לך׃
43And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
43A l'instant il recouvra la vue, et suivit Jésus, en glorifiant Dieu. Tout le peuple, voyant cela, loua Dieu.
43ופתאם ראה וילך אחריו הלך ושבח את האלהים וכל העם בראותם זאת נתנו תודה לאלהים׃
