1Now after two days was [the feast of] the passover and the unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him with subtlety, and kill him:
1La fête de Pâque et des pains sans levain devait avoir lieu deux jours après. Les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes cherchaient les moyens d'arrêter Jésus par ruse, et de le faire mourir.
1ויהי יומים לפני חג הפסח והמצות ויבקשו הכהנים הגדולים והסופרים איך יתפשהו בערמה להמיתו׃
2for they said, Not during the feast, lest haply there shall be a tumult of the people.
2Car ils disaient: Que ce ne soit pas pendant la fête, afin qu'il n'y ait pas de tumulte parmi le peuple.
2ויאמרו אך לא בחג פן תהיה מהומה בעם׃
3And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster cruse of ointment of pure nard very costly; [and] she brake the cruse, and poured it over his head.
3Comme Jésus était à Béthanie, dans la maison de Simon le lépreux, une femme entra, pendant qu'il se trouvait à table. Elle tenait un vase d'albâtre, qui renfermait un parfum de nard pur de grand prix; et, ayant rompu le vase, elle répandit le parfum sur la tête de Jésus.
3ויהי בהיותו בבית היני בית שמעון המצרע ויסב אל השלחן ותבא אשה ובידה פך שמן נרד זך ויקר מאד ותשבר את הפך ותצק על ראשו׃
4But there were some that had indignation among themselves, [saying], To what purpose hath this waste of the ointment been made?
4Quelques-uns exprimèrent entre eux leur indignation: A quoi bon perdre ce parfum?
4ויש אשר מתרעמים איש אל רעהו לאמר על מה היה אבוד השמן הזה׃
5For this ointment might have been sold for above three hundred shillings, and given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
5On aurait pu le vendre plus de trois cents deniers, et les donner aux pauvres. Et ils s'irritaient contre cette femme.
5כי ראוי היה זה להמכר ביותר משלש מאות דינר ולתתו לעניים ויגערו בה׃
6But Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
6Mais Jésus dit: Laissez-la. Pourquoi lui faites-vous de la peine? Elle a fait une bonne action à mon égard;
6ויאמר ישוע הניחו לה למה תגיון נפשה מעשה טוב עשתה עמדי׃
7For ye have the poor always with you, and whensoever ye will ye can do them good: but me ye have not always.
7car vous avez toujours les pauvres avec vous, et vous pouvez leur faire du bien quand vous voulez, mais vous ne m'avez pas toujours.
7כי העניים תמיד עמכם וכשתרצו תוכלו להיטיב להם ואנכי לא אהיה אתכם תמיד׃
8She hath done what she could; she hath anointed my body beforehand for the burying.
8Elle a fait ce qu'elle a pu; elle a d'avance embaumé mon corps pour la sépulture.
8את אשר היה לאל ידה עשתה קדמה למשוח את גופי לחנטו׃
9And verily I say unto you, Wheresoever the gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, that also which this woman hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
9Je vous le dis en vérité, partout où la bonne nouvelle sera prêchée, dans le monde entier, on racontera aussi en mémoire de cette femme ce qu'elle a fait.
9אמן אמר אני לכם כי באשר תקרא הבשורה הזאת אל כל העולם גם את אשר עשתה היא יספר לזכרון לה׃
10And Judas Iscariot, he that was one of the twelve, went away unto the chief priests, that he might deliver him unto them.
10Judas Iscariot, l'un des douze, alla vers les principaux sacrificateurs, afin de leur livrer Jésus.
10ויהודה איש קריות אחד משנים העשר הלך אל ראשי הכהנים למסר אותו אליהם׃
11And they, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently deliver him [unto them].
11Après l'avoir entendu, ils furent dans la joie, et promirent de lui donner de l'argent. Et Judas cherchait une occasion favorable pour le livrer.
11והם כשמעם שמחו ויאמרו לתת לו כסף ויבקש תאנה למסרו׃
12And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the passover, his disciples say unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and make ready that thou mayest eat the passover?
12Le premier jour des pains sans levain, où l'on immolait la Pâque, les disciples de Jésus lui dirent: Où veux-tu que nous allions te préparer la Pâque?
12ויהי בראשון לחג המצות עת זבח הפסח ויאמרו אליו תלמידיו איפה תחפץ לאכל את הפסח ונלכה ונכין׃
13And he sendeth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him;
13Et il envoya deux de ses disciples, et leur dit: Allez à la ville; vous rencontrerez un homme portant une cruche d'eau, suivez-le.
13וישלח שנים מתלמידיו ויאמר אליהם לכו העירה ויפגע אתכם איש נשא צפחת המים לכו אחריו׃
14and wheresoever he shall enter in, say to the master of the house, The Teacher saith, Where is my guest-chamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
14Quelque part qu'il entre, dites au maître de la maison: Le maître dit: Où est le lieu où je mangerai la Pâque avec mes disciples?
14ובאשר יבוא שמה אמרו לבעל הבית כה אמר הרב איה המלון אשת אכלה שם את הפסח עם תלמידי׃
15And he will himself show you a large upper room furnished [and] ready: and there make ready for us.
15Et il vous montrera une grande chambre haute, meublée et toute prête: c'est là que vous nous préparerez la Pâque.
15והוא יראה אתכם עליה גדולה מצעה ומוכנה ושם הכינו לנו׃
16And the disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
16Les disciples partirent, arrivèrent à la ville, et trouvèrent les choses comme il le leur avait dit; et ils préparèrent la Pâque.
16ויצאו תלמידיו ויבאו העירה וימצאו כאשר דבר להם ויכינו את הפסח׃
17And when it was evening he cometh with the twelve.
17Le soir étant venu, il arriva avec les douze.
17ויהי בערב ויבא עם שנים העשר׃
18And as they sat and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you shall betray me, [even] he that eateth with me.
18Pendant qu'ils étaient à table et qu'ils mangeaient, Jésus dit: Je vous le dis en vérité, l'un de vous, qui mange avec moi, me livrera.
18ויסבו ויאכלו ויאמר ישוע אמן אמר אני לכם אחד מכם האכל אתי ימסרני׃
19They began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I?
19Ils commencèrent à s'attrister, et à lui dire, l'un après l'autre: Est-ce moi?
19ויחלו להתעצב ויאמרו אליו זה אחר זה הכי אני הוא׃
20And he said unto them, [It is] one of the twelve, he that dippeth with me in the dish.
20Il leur répondit: C'est l'un des douze, qui met avec moi la main dans le plat.
20ויען ויאמר אליהם אחד משנים העשר הוא הטבל עמי בקערה׃
21For the Son of man goeth, even as it is written of him: but woe unto that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had not been born.
21Le Fils de l'homme s'en va selon ce qui est écrit de lui. Mais malheur à l'homme par qui le Fils de l'homme est livré! Mieux vaudrait pour cet homme qu'il ne fût pas né.
21הן בן האדם הלך ילך כאשר כתוב עליו אבל אוי לאיש ההוא אשר על ידו ימסר בן האדם טוב לאיש ההוא שלא נולד׃
22And as they were eating, he took bread, and when he had blessed, he brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take ye: this is my body.
22Pendant qu'ils mangeaient, Jésus prit du pain; et, après avoir rendu grâces, il le rompit, et le leur donna, en disant: Prenez, ceci est mon corps.
22ויהי באכלם ויקח ישוע לחם ויברך ויבצע ויתן להם ויאמר קחו אכלו זה הוא גופי׃
23And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave to them: and they all drank of it.
23Il prit ensuite une coupe; et, après avoir rendu grâces, il la leur donna, et ils en burent tous.
23ויקח את הכוס ויברך ויתן להם וישתו ממנה כלם׃
24And he said unto them, This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.
24Et il leur dit: Ceci est mon sang, le sang de l'alliance, qui est répandu pour plusieurs.
24ויאמר להם זה הוא דמי דם הברית החדשה הנשפך בעד רבים׃
25Verily I say unto you, I shall no more drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
25Je vous le dis en vérité, je ne boirai plus jamais du fruit de la vigne, jusqu'au jour où je le boirai nouveau dans le royaume de Dieu.
25אמן אמר אני לכם שתה לא אשתה עוד מתנובת הגפן עד היום ההוא אשר אשתה אותה חדשה במלכות האלהים׃
26And when they had sung a hymn, they went out unto the mount of Olives.
26Après avoir chanté les cantiques, ils se rendirent à la montagne des oliviers.
26ואחרי גמרם את ההלל ויצאו אל הר הזיתים׃
27And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered abroad.
27Jésus leur dit: Vous serez tous scandalisés; car il est écrit: Je frapperai le berger, et les brebis seront dispersées.
27ויאמר אליהם ישוע אתם כלכם תכשלו בי בלילה הזה כי כתוב אכה את הרעה ותפוצין הצאן׃
28Howbeit, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.
28Mais, après que je serai ressuscité, je vous précéderai en Galilée.
28ואחרי קומי מן המתים אלך לפניכם הגלילה׃
29But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.
29Pierre lui dit: Quand tous seraient scandalisés, je ne serai pas scandalisé.
29ויאמר אליו פטרוס גם אם כלם יכשלו אני לא אכשל׃
30And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, that thou to-day, [even] this night, before the cock crow twice, shalt deny me thrice.
30Et Jésus lui dit: Je te le dis en vérité, toi, aujourd'hui, cette nuit même, avant que le coq chante deux fois, tu me renieras trois fois.
30ויאמר אליו ישוע אמן אמר אני לך כי היום בלילה הזה בטרם יקרא התרנגול פעמים אתה תכחש בי שלש פעמים׃
31But he spake exceedingly vehemently, If I must die with thee, I will not deny thee. And in like manner also said they all.
31Mais Pierre reprit plus fortement: Quand il me faudrait mourir avec toi, je ne te renierai pas. Et tous dirent la même chose.
31והוא התחזק ויוסף לדבר ויאמר גם כי יהיה עלי למות אתך כחש לא אכחש בך וכן אמרו גם כלם׃
32And they come unto a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith unto his disciples, Sit ye here, while I pray.
32Ils allèrent ensuite dans un lieu appelé Gethsémané, et Jésus dit à ses disciples: Asseyez-vous ici, pendant que je prierai.
32ויבאו אל חצר גת שמני שמו ויאמר אל תלמידיו שבו לכם פה עד אשר אתפלל׃
33And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly amazed, and sore troubled.
33Il prit avec lui Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et il commença à éprouver de la frayeur et des angoisses.
33ויקח אתו את פטרוס ואת יעקב ואת יוחנן ויחל להשמים ולמוג׃
34And he saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death: abide ye here, and watch.
34Il leur dit: Mon âme est triste jusqu'à la mort; restez ici, et veillez.
34ויאמר אליהם נפשי מרה לי עד מות עמדו פה ושקדו׃
35And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.
35Puis, ayant fait quelques pas en avant, il se jeta contre terre, et pria que, s'il était possible, cette heure s'éloignât de lui.
35ויעבר משם מעט והלאה ויפל ארצה ויתפלל אשר אם יוכל היות תעבר נא מעליו השעה הזאת׃
36And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; remove this cup from me: howbeit not what I will, but what thou wilt.
36Il disait: Abba, Père, toutes choses te sont possibles, éloigne de moi cette coupe! Toutefois, non pas ce que je veux, mais ce que tu veux.
36ויאמר אבא אבי הכל תוכל העבר נא מעלי את הכוס הזאת אך לא את אשר אני רוצה כי אם את אשר אתה׃
37And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest thou not watch one hour?
37Et il vint vers les disciples, qu'il trouva endormis, et il dit à Pierre: Simon, tu dors! Tu n'as pu veiller une heure!
37ויבא וימצאם ישנים ויאמר אל פטרוס שמעון התישן הכי לא יכלת לשקד שעה אחת׃
38Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
38Veillez et priez, afin que vous ne tombiez pas en tentation; l'esprit est bien disposé, mais la chair est faible.
38שקדו והתפללו פן תבאו לידי נסיון הן הרוח היא חפצה והבשר רפה׃
39And again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words.
39Il s'éloigna de nouveau, et fit la même prière.
39ויסף לסור ויתפלל באמרו עוד הפעם כדברים ההמה׃
40And again he came, and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they knew not what to answer him.
40Il revint, et les trouva encore endormis; car leurs yeux étaient appesantis. Ils ne surent que lui répondre.
40וישב וימצאם שנית ישנים כי עיניהם היו כבדות ולא ידעו מה יענהו׃
41And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough; the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
41Il revint pour la troisième fois, et leur dit: Dormez maintenant, et reposez-vous! C'est assez! L'heure est venue; voici, le Fils de l'homme est livré aux mains des pécheurs.
41ויבא פעם שלישית ויאמר אליהם מעתה נומו ונוחו רב לי כי באה השעה הנה בן האדם נמסר בידי חטאים׃
42Arise, let us be going: behold, he that betrayeth me is at hand.
42Levez-vous, allons; voici, celui qui me livre s'approche.
42קומו ונלכה הנה המוסר אותי קרב׃
43And straightway, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
43Et aussitôt, comme il parlait encore, arriva Judas l'un des douze, et avec lui une foule armée d'épées et de bâtons, envoyée par les principaux sacrificateurs, par les scribes et par les anciens.
43עודנו מדבר ויהודה בא והוא אחד משנים העשר ועמו המון רב בחרבות ובמקלות מאת הכהנים הגדולים והסופרים והזקנים׃
44Now he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
44Celui qui le livrait leur avait donné ce signe: Celui que je baiserai, c'est lui; saisissez-le, et emmenez-le sûrement.
44והמוסר אתו נתן להם אות לאמר האיש אשר אשקהו זה הוא אותו תפשו והוליכהו אל ימלט׃
45And when he was come, straightway he came to him, and saith, Rabbi; and kissed him.
45Dès qu'il fut arrivé, il s'approcha de Jésus, disant: Rabbi! Et il le baisa.
45הוא בא והוא נגש אליו ויאמר רבי רבי וינשק לו׃
46And they laid hands on him, and took him.
46Alors ces gens mirent la main sur Jésus, et le saisirent.
46וישלחו בו את ידיהם ויתפשהו׃
47But a certain one of them that stood by drew his sword, and smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear.
47Un de ceux qui étaient là, tirant l'épée, frappa le serviteur du souverain sacrificateur, et lui emporta l'oreille.
47ואחד מן העמדים אצלו שלף את חרבו ויך את עבד הכהן הגדול ויקצץ את אזנו׃
48And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a robber, with swords and staves to seize me?
48Jésus, prenant la parole, leur dit: Vous êtes venus, comme après un brigand, avec des épées et des bâtons, pour vous emparer de moi.
48ויען ישוע ויאמר אליהם כמו על פריץ יצאתם עלי בחרבות ובמקלות לתפשני׃
49I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but [this is done] that the scriptures might be fulfilled.
49J'étais tous les jours parmi vous, enseignant dans le temple, et vous ne m'avez pas saisi. Mais c'est afin que les Ecritures soient accomplies.
49ויום יום הייתי אצלכם מלמד במקדש ולא החזקתם בי אבל למען ימלאו הכתובים׃
50And they all left him, and fled.
50Alors tous l'abandonnèrent, et prirent la fuite.
50ויעזבו אותו כלם וינוסו׃
51And a certain young man followed with him, having a linen cloth cast about him, over [his] naked [body]: and they lay hold on him;
51Un jeune homme le suivait, n'ayant sur le corps qu'un drap. On se saisit de lui;
51ונער אחד הלך אחריו מעטף בסדין לכסות את ערותו ויאחזהו הנערים׃
52but he left the linen cloth, and fled naked.
52mais il lâcha son vêtement, et se sauva tout nu.
52והוא עזב את הסדין בידם וינס ערם מפניהם׃
53And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and there come together with him all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
53Ils emmenèrent Jésus chez le souverain sacrificateur, où s'assemblèrent tous les principaux sacrificateurs, les anciens et les scribes.
53ויוליכו את ישוע אל הכהן הגדול ויקהלו אתו כל הכהנים הגדולים והזקנים והסופרים׃
54And Peter had followed him afar off, even within, into the court of the high priest; and he was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in the light [of the fire].
54Pierre le suivit de loin jusque dans l'intérieur de la cour du souverain sacrificateur; il s'assit avec les serviteurs, et il se chauffait près du feu.
54ופטרוס הלך אחריו מרחוק עד לחצר הכהן הגדול פנימה וישב שם עם המשרתים ויתחמם נגד האור׃
55Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found it not.
55Les principaux sacrificateurs et tout le sanhédrin cherchaient un témoignage contre Jésus, pour le faire mourir, et ils n'en trouvaient point;
55וראשי הכהנים וכל הסנהדרין בקשו עדות על ישוע להמיתו ולא מצאו׃
56For many bare false witness against him, and their witness agreed not together.
56car plusieurs rendaient de faux témoignages contre lui, mais les témoignages ne s'accordaient pas.
56כי רבים ענו בו עדות שקר אך העדיות לא היו שות׃
57And there stood up certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
57Quelques-uns se levèrent, et portèrent un faux témoignage contre lui, disant:
57ויקומו אנשים ויענו בו עדות שקר לאמר׃
58We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.
58Nous l'avons entendu dire: Je détruirai ce temple fait de main d'homme, et en trois jours j'en bâtirai un autre qui ne sera pas fait de main d'homme.
58שמענו אתו אמר אני אהרס את ההיכל הזה מעשה ידי אדם ולשלשת ימים אבנה היכל אחר אשר איננו מעשה ידי אדם׃
59And not even so did their witness agree together.
59Même sur ce point-là leur témoignage ne s'accordait pas.
59וגם בזאת עדותם לא שותה׃
60And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
60Alors le souverain sacrificateur, se levant au milieu de l'assemblée, interrogea Jésus, et dit: Ne réponds-tu rien? Qu'est-ce que ces gens déposent contre toi?
60ויקם הכהן הגדול ויעמד בתוך וישאל את ישוע לאמר האינך משיב דבר מה זה אלה ענים בך׃
61But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and saith unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
61Jésus garda le silence, et ne répondit rien. Le souverain sacrificateur l'interrogea de nouveau, et lui dit: Es-tu le Christ, le Fils du Dieu béni?
61והוא החריש ולא השיב דבר ויוסף עוד הכהן הגדול לשאל אתו ויאמר אליו האתה הוא המשיח בן המברך׃
62And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.
62Jésus répondit: Je le suis. Et vous verrez le Fils de l'homme assis à la droite de la puissance de Dieu, et venant sur les nuées du ciel.
62ויאמר ישוע אני הוא ואתם תראו את בן האדם יושב לימין הגבורה ובא עם ענני השמים׃
63And the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What further need have we of witnesses?
63Alors le souverain sacrificateur déchira ses vêtements, et dit: Qu'avons-nous encore besoin de témoins?
63ויקרע הכהן הגדול את בגדיו ויאמר מה לנו עוד לבקש עדים׃
64Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be worthy of death.
64Vous avez entendu le blasphème. Que vous en semble? Tous le condamnèrent comme méritant la mort.
64שמעתם את הגדוף מה דעתכם וירשיעהו כלם כי חיב מיתה הוא׃
65And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the officers received him with blows of their hands.
65Et quelques-uns se mirent à cracher sur lui, à lui voiler le visage et à le frapper à coups de poing, en lui disant: Devine! Et les serviteurs le reçurent en lui donnant des soufflets.
65ויחלו מהם לרק בו ויחפו את פניו ויכהו באגרף ויאמרו אליו הנבא והמשרתים הכאיבהו בהכותם אותו על הלחי׃
66And as Peter was beneath in the court, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest;
66Pendant que Pierre était en bas dans la cour, il vint une des servantes du souverain sacrificateur.
66ויהי בהיות פטרוס בתחתית החצר ותבא אחת משפחות הכהן הגדול׃
67and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and saith, Thou also wast with the Nazarene, [even] Jesus.
67Voyant Pierre qui se chauffait, elle le regarda, et lui dit: Toi aussi, tu étais avec Jésus de Nazareth.
67ותרא את פטרוס כי מתחמם הוא ותבט בו ותאמר גם אתה היית עם הנצרי ישוע׃
68But he denied, saying, I neither know, nor understand what thou sayest: and he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
68Il le nia, disant: Je ne sais pas, je ne comprends pas ce que tu veux dire. Puis il sortit pour aller dans le vestibule. Et le coq chanta.
68ויכחש לאמר לא אדע ולא אבין מה את אמרת ויצא החוצה אל האולם והתרנגל קרא׃
69And the maid saw him, and began again to say to them that stood by, This is [one] of them.
69La servante, l'ayant vu, se mit de nouveau à dire à ceux qui étaient présents: Celui-ci est de ces gens-là.
69ותראהו השפחה ותוסף ותאמר אל העמדים שם כי זה הוא אחד מהם ויכחש פעם שנית׃
70But he again denied it. And after a little while again they that stood by said to Peter, of a truth thou art [one] of them; for thou art a Galilaean.
70Et il le nia de nouveau. Peu après, ceux qui étaient présents dirent encore à Pierre: Certainement tu es de ces gens-là, car tu es Galiléen.
70וכמעט אחרי כן גם העמדים שם אמרו אל פטרוס אמנם אתה אחד מהם כי אף גלילי אתה ולשונך כלשונם׃
71But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
71Alors il commença à faire des imprécations et à jurer: Je ne connais pas cet homme dont vous parlez.
71ויחל להחרים את נפשו ולהשבע לאמר לא יעדתי את האיש הזה אשר אמרתם׃
72And straightway the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word, how that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
