¹And when he entered again into Capernaum after some days, it was noised that he was in the house.

¹Quelques jours après, Jésus revint à Capernaüm. On apprit qu'il était à la maison,

¹ויהי מקץ ימים בשובו אל כפר נחום וישמעו כי הוא בבית׃

²And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room [for them], no, not even about the door: and he spake the word unto them.

²et il s'assembla un si grand nombre de personnes que l'espace devant la porte ne pouvait plus les contenir. Il leur annonçait la parole.

²ויאספו רבים מהרה עד אפס מקום לעמד אף מחוץ לפתח וידבר אליהם את הדבר׃

³And they come, bringing unto him a man sick of the palsy, borne of four.

³Des gens vinrent à lui, amenant un paralytique porté par quatre hommes.

³ויבאו אליו אנשים נשאים איש נכה אברים וישאהו בארבעה׃

⁴And when they could not come nigh unto him for the crowd, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed whereon the sick of the palsy lay.

⁴Comme ils ne pouvaient l'aborder, à cause de la foule, ils découvrirent le toit de la maison où il était, et ils descendirent par cette ouverture le lit sur lequel le paralytique était couché.

⁴ולא יכלו לגשת אליו מפני העם ויסירו את הגג במקום אשר היה שם ויחתרו חתירה ויורידו את המשכב אשר שכב עליה נכה האברים׃

⁵And Jesus seeing their faith saith unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins are forgiven.

⁵Jésus, voyant leur foi, dit au paralytique: Mon enfant, tes péchés sont pardonnés.

⁵ויהי כראות ישוע את אמונתם ויאמר אל נכה האברים בני נסלחו לך חטאתיך׃

⁶But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

⁶Il y avait là quelques scribes, qui étaient assis, et qui se disaient au dedans d'eux:

⁶ויהיו מן הסופרים ישבים שם וחשבים בלבם לאמר׃

⁷Why doth this man thus speak? he blasphemeth: who can forgive sins but one, [even] God?

⁷Comment cet homme parle-t-il ainsi? Il blasphème. Qui peut pardonner les péchés, si ce n'est Dieu seul?

⁷מה ידבר זה גדופים כאלה מי יוכל לסלח חטאים בלתי האלהים לבדו׃

⁸And straightway Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, saith unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

⁸Jésus, ayant aussitôt connu par son esprit ce qu'ils pensaient au dedans d'eux, leur dit: Pourquoi avez-vous de telles pensées dans vos coeurs?

⁸וידע ישוע ברוחו כי ככה חשבו בלבבם ויאמר אליהם מדוע תחשבו כאלה בלבבכם׃

⁹Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

⁹Lequel est le plus aisé, de dire au paralytique: Tes péchés sont pardonnés, ou de dire: Lève-toi, prends ton lit, et marche?

⁹מה הנקל האמר אל נכה האברים נסלחו לך חטאתיך אם אמור קום שא את משכבך והתהלך׃

¹⁰But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins (he saith to the sick of the palsy),

¹⁰Or, afin que vous sachiez que le Fils de l'homme a sur la terre le pouvoir de pardonner les péchés:

¹⁰אך למען תדעון כי לבן האדם יש השלטן לסלח חטאים בארץ ויאמר אל נכה האברים׃

¹¹I say unto thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thy house.

¹¹Je te l'ordonne, dit-il au paralytique, lève-toi, prends ton lit, et va dans ta maison.

¹¹לך אני אמר קום שא את משכבך ולך אל ביתך׃

¹²And he arose, and straightway took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

¹²Et, à l'instant, il se leva, prit son lit, et sortit en présence de tout le monde, de sorte qu'ils étaient tous dans l'étonnement et glorifiaient Dieu, disant: Nous n'avons jamais rien vu de pareil.

¹²ויקם פתאם וישא את משכבו ויצא לעיני כלם עד כי השתממו כלם וישבחו את האלהים לאמר מעולם לא ראינו כזאת׃

¹³And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.

¹³Jésus sortit de nouveau du côté de la mer. Toute la foule venait à lui, et il les enseignait.

¹³וישב לצאת אל יד הים ויבאו אליו כל העם וילמדם׃

¹⁴And as he passed by, he saw Levi the [son] of Alphaeus sitting at the place of toll, and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

¹⁴En passant, il vit Lévi, fils d'Alphée, assis au bureau des péages. Il lui dit: Suis-moi. Lévi se leva, et le suivit.

¹⁴ויהי בעברו וירא את לוי בן חלפי ישב בבית המכס ויאמר אליו לכה אחרי ויקם וילך אחריו׃

¹⁵And it came to pass, that he was sitting at meat in his house, and many publicans and sinners sat down with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.

¹⁵Comme Jésus était à table dans la maison de Lévi, beaucoup de publicains et de gens de mauvaise vie se mirent aussi à table avec lui et avec ses disciples; car ils étaient nombreux, et l'avaient suivi.

¹⁵ויהי כאשר הסב בביתו ויסבו מוכסים וחטאים רבים עם ישוע ועם תלמידיו כי רבים היו ההלכים אחריו׃

¹⁶And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with the sinners and publicans, said unto his disciples, [How is it] that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

¹⁶Les scribes et les pharisiens, le voyant manger avec les publicains et les gens de mauvaise vie, dirent à ses disciples: Pourquoi mange-t-il et boit-il avec les publicains et les gens de mauvaise vie?

¹⁶והסופרים והפרושים ראו אתו אכל עם המוכסים והחטאים ויאמרו אל תלמידיו למה זה עם החטאים והמוכסים אכל רבכם׃

¹⁷And when Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.

¹⁷Ce que Jésus ayant entendu, il leur dit: Ce ne sont pas ceux qui se portent bien qui ont besoin de médecin, mais les malades. Je ne suis pas venu appeler des justes, mais des pécheurs.

¹⁷וישמע ישוע ויאמר החזקים אינם צריכים לרפא כי אם החלים לא באתי לקרא הצדיקים כי אם החטאים לתשובה׃

¹⁸And John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting: and they come and say unto him, Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?

¹⁸Les disciples de Jean et les pharisiens jeûnaient. Ils vinrent dire à Jésus: Pourquoi les disciples de Jean et ceux des pharisiens jeûnent-ils, tandis que tes disciples ne jeûnent point?

¹⁸ותלמידי יוחנן והפרושים היו צמים ויבאו ויאמרו אליו מדוע תלמידי יוחנן ותלמידי הפרושים צמים ותלמידיך אינם צמים׃

¹⁹And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

¹⁹Jésus leur répondit: Les amis de l'époux peuvent-ils jeûner pendant que l'époux est avec eux? Aussi longtemps qu'ils ont avec eux l'époux, ils ne peuvent jeûner.

¹⁹ויאמר אליהם ישוע איך יוכלו בני החפה לצום בעוד החתן עמהם כל ימי היות החתן עמהם לא יוכלו לצום׃

²⁰But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then will they fast in that day.

²⁰Les jours viendront où l'époux leur sera enlevé, et alors ils jeûneront en ce jour-là.

²⁰הנה ימים באים ולקח מאתם החתן ואז יצומו בימים ההם׃

²¹No man seweth a piece of undressed cloth on an old garment: else that which should fill it up taketh from it, the new from the old, and a worse rent is made.

²¹Personne ne coud une pièce de drap neuf à un vieil habit; autrement, la pièce de drap neuf emporterait une partie du vieux, et la déchirure serait pire.

²¹אין תפר מטלית בגד חדש על שמלה בלה כי אז ינתק מלויו החדש מן הבלה ותרע הקריעה׃

²²And no man putteth new wine into old wineskins; else the wine will burst the skins, and the wine perisheth, and the skins: but [they put] new wine into fresh wine-skins.

²²Et personne ne met du vin nouveau dans de vieilles outres; autrement, le vin fait rompre les outres, et le vin et les outres sont perdus; mais il faut mettre le vin nouveau dans des outres neuves.

²²ואין נתן יין חדש בנאדות בלים כי אז יבקע היין את הנאדות והיין ישפך והנאדות יאבדו אבל בנאדות חדשים ינתן היין החדש׃

²³And it came to pass, that he was going on the sabbath day through the grainfields; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears.

²³Il arriva, un jour de sabbat, que Jésus traversa des champs de blé. Ses disciples, chemin faisant, se mirent à arracher des épis.

²³ויהי כעברו בשבת בין הקמה ויחלו תלמידיו לקטף מלילת בלכתם׃

²⁴And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?

²⁴Les pharisiens lui dirent: Voici, pourquoi font-ils ce qui n'est pas permis pendant le sabbat?

²⁴ויאמרו אליו הפרושים ראה מה המה עשים בשבת דבר אשר לא יעשה׃

²⁵And he said unto them, Did ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he, and they that were with him?

²⁵Jésus leur répondit: N'avez-vous jamais lu ce que fit David, lorsqu'il fut dans la nécessité et qu'il eut faim, lui et ceux qui étaient avec lui;

²⁵ויאמר אליהם הכי לא קראתם את אשר עשה דוד בהיתו חסר ורעב הוא ואשר היו אתו׃

²⁶How he entered into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the showbread, which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests, and gave also to them that were with him?

²⁶comment il entra dans la maison de Dieu, du temps du souverain sacrificateur Abiathar, et mangea les pains de proposition, qu'il n'est permis qu'aux sacrificateurs de manger, et en donna même à ceux qui étaient avec lui!

²⁶כי בא אל בית אלהים בימי אביתר הכהן הגדול ויאכל את לחם הפנים אשר לא נכון לאכלה כי אם לכהנים ויתן גם לאנשים אשר אתו׃

²⁷And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

²⁷Puis il leur dit: Le sabbat a été fait pour l'homme, et non l'homme pour le sabbat,

²⁷ויאמר אליהם השבת נעשה בעבור האדם ולא האדם בעבור השבת׃

²⁸so that the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.

²⁸de sorte que le Fils de l'homme est maître même du sabbat.

²⁸לכן בן האדם אדון הוא גם לשבת׃
