¹At that season Jesus went on the sabbath day through the grainfields; and his disciples were hungry and began to pluck ears and to eat.

¹En ce temps-là, Jésus traversa des champs de blé un jour de sabbat. Ses disciples, qui avaient faim, se mirent à arracher des épis et à manger.

¹בעת ההיא עבר ישוע בין הקמה ביום השבת ותלמידיו רעבו ויחלו לקטף מלילת ויאכלו׃

²But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which it is not lawful to do upon the sabbath.

²Les pharisiens, voyant cela, lui dirent: Voici, tes disciples font ce qu'il n'est pas permis de faire pendant le sabbat.

²ויראו הפרושים ויאמרו לו הנה תלמידיך עשים את אשר אסור לעשות בשבת׃

³But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was hungry, and they that were with him;

³Mais Jésus leur répondit: N'avez-vous pas lu ce que fit David, lorsqu'il eut faim, lui et ceux qui étaient avec lui;

³ויאמר אליהם הלא קראתם את אשר עשה דוד בהיתו רעב הוא והאנשים אשר אתו׃

⁴how he entered into the house of God, and ate the showbread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them that were with him, but only for the priests?

⁴comment il entra dans la maison de Dieu, et mangea les pains de proposition, qu'il ne lui était pas permis de manger, non plus qu'à ceux qui étaient avec lui, et qui étaient réservés aux sacrificateurs seuls?

⁴כי בא אל בית האלהים ויאכל את לחם הפנים אשר איננו מתר לו ולאנשיו לאכלה רק לכהנים לבדם׃

⁵Or have ye not read in the law, that on the sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are guiltless?

⁵Ou, n'avez-vous pas lu dans la loi que, les jours de sabbat, les sacrificateurs violent le sabbat dans le temple, sans se rendre coupables?

⁵או הלא קראתם בתורה כי בשבתות יחללו הכהנים את השבת במקדש ואין להם עון׃

⁶But I say unto you, that one greater than the temple is here.

⁶Or, je vous le dis, il y a ici quelque chose de plus grand que le temple.

⁶אבל אני אמר לכם כי יש פה גדול מן המקדש׃

⁷But if ye had known what this meaneth, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

⁷Si vous saviez ce que signifie: Je prends plaisir à la miséricorde, et non aux sacrifices, vous n'auriez pas condamné des innocents.

⁷ולו ידעתם מה הוא חסד חפצתי ולא זבח לא הרשעתם את הנקים׃

⁸For the Son of man is lord of the sabbath.

⁸Car le Fils de l'homme est maître du sabbat.

⁸כי בן האדם הוא גם אדון השבת׃

⁹And he departed thence, and went into their synagogue:

⁹Etant parti de là, Jésus entra dans la synagogue.

⁹ויעבר משם אל בית כנסתם׃

¹⁰and behold, a man having a withered hand. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? that they might accuse him.

¹⁰Et voici, il s'y trouvait un homme qui avait la main sèche. Ils demandèrent à Jésus: Est-il permis de faire une guérison les jours de sabbat? C'était afin de pouvoir l'accuser.

¹⁰והנה שם איש אשר ידו יבשה וישאלוהו לאמר המתר לרפא בשבת למען ימצאו עליו שטנה׃

¹¹And he said unto them, What man shall there be of you, that shall have one sheep, and if this fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

¹¹Il leur répondit: Lequel d'entre vous, s'il n'a qu'une brebis et qu'elle tombe dans une fosse le jour du sabbat, ne la saisira pour l'en retirer?

¹¹ויאמר אליהם מי האיש בכם אשר לו כבש אחד ונפל בבור בשבת ולא יחזיק בו ויעלנו׃

¹²How much then is a man of more value than a sheep! Wherefore it is lawful to do good on the sabbath day.

¹²Combien un homme ne vaut-il pas plus qu'une brebis! Il est donc permis de faire du bien les jours de sabbat.

¹²ומה יקר אדם מן הכבש לכן מתר להיטיב בשבת׃

¹³Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, as the other.

¹³Alors il dit à l'homme: Etends ta main. Il l'étendit, et elle devint saine comme l'autre.

¹³ויאמר אל האיש פשט את ידך ויפשט אתה ותרפא ותשב כידו האחרת׃

¹⁴But the Pharisees went out, and took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.

¹⁴Les pharisiens sortirent, et ils se consultèrent sur les moyens de le faire périr.

¹⁴ויצא הפרושים ויתיעצו עליו לאבדו׃

¹⁵And Jesus perceiving [it] withdrew from thence: and many followed him; and he healed them all,

¹⁵Mais Jésus, l'ayant su, s'éloigna de ce lieu. Une grande foule le suivit. Il guérit tous les malades,

¹⁵וידע ישוע ויסר משם וילך אחריו המון עם רב וירפאם כלם׃

¹⁶and charged them that they should not make him known:

¹⁶et il leur recommanda sévèrement de ne pas le faire connaître,

¹⁶ויצו אתם בגערה שלא יגלהו׃

¹⁷that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,

¹⁷afin que s'accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par Esaïe, le prophète:

¹⁷למלאת את אשר דבר ישעיהו הנביא לאמר׃

¹⁸Behold, my servant whom I have chosen; My beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit upon him, And he shall declare judgment to the Gentiles.

¹⁸Voici mon serviteur que j'ai choisi, Mon bien-aimé en qui mon âme a pris plaisir. Je mettrai mon Esprit sur lui, Et il annoncera la justice aux nations.

¹⁸הן עבדי בחרתי בו ידידי רצתה נפשי נתתי רוחי עליו ומשפט לגוים יוציא׃

¹⁹He shall not strive, nor cry aloud; Neither shall any one hear his voice in the streets.

¹⁹Il ne contestera point, il ne criera point, Et personne n'entendra sa voix dans les rues.

¹⁹לא יצעק ולא ישא ולא ישמע בחוץ קולו׃

²⁰A bruised reed shall he not break, And smoking flax shall he not quench, Till he send forth judgment unto victory.

²⁰Il ne brisera point le roseau cassé, Et il n'éteindra point le lumignon qui fume, Jusqu'à ce qu'il ait fait triompher la justice.

²⁰קנה רצוץ לא ישבור ופשתה כהה לא יכבנה עד יוציא לנצח משפט׃

²¹And in his name shall the Gentiles hope.

²¹Et les nations espéreront en son nom.

²¹ולשמו גוים ייחלו׃

²²Then was brought unto him one possessed with a demon, blind and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the dumb man spake and saw.

²²Alors on lui amena un démoniaque aveugle et muet, et il le guérit, de sorte que le muet parlait et voyait.

²²אז הובא אליו איש עור ואלם אשר אחזו שד וירפאהו וידבר האלם וגם ראה׃

²³And all the multitudes were amazed, and said, Can this be the son of David?

²³Toute la foule étonnée disait: N'est-ce point là le Fils de David?

²³וישתוממו כל המון העם ויאמרו הכי זה הוא בן דוד׃

²⁴But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This man doth not cast out demons, but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons.

²⁴Les pharisiens, ayant entendu cela, dirent: Cet homme ne chasse les démons que par Béelzébul, prince des démons.

²⁴והפרושים כשמעם זאת אמרו זה איננו מגרש את השדים כי אם על ידי בעל זבוב שר השדים׃

²⁵And knowing their thoughts he said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

²⁵Comme Jésus connaissait leurs pensées, il leur dit: Tout royaume divisé contre lui-même est dévasté, et toute ville ou maison divisée contre elle-même ne peut subsister.

²⁵וישוע ידע את מחשבותם ויאמר אליהם כל ממלכה הנחלקה על עצמה תחרב וכל עיר ובית הנחלקים על עצמם לא יכונו׃

²⁶and if Satan casteth out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand?

²⁶Si Satan chasse Satan, il est divisé contre lui-même; comment donc son royaume subsistera-t-il?

²⁶והשטן אם יגרש את השטן נחלק על עצמו ואיככה תכון ממלכתו׃

²⁷And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.

²⁷Et si moi, je chasse les démons par Béelzébul, vos fils, par qui les chassent-ils? C'est pourquoi ils seront eux-mêmes vos juges.

²⁷ואם אני מגרש את השדים בבעל זבוב בניכם במי הם מגרשים אתם על כן המה יהיו שפטיכם׃

²⁸But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then is the kingdom of God come upon you.

²⁸Mais, si c'est par l'Esprit de Dieu que je chasse les démons, le royaume de Dieu est donc venu vers vous.

²⁸אך אם ברוח אלהים אני מגרש את השדים הנה הגיעה אליכם מלכות האלהים׃

²⁹Or how can one enter into the house of the strong [man,] and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong [man]? and then he will spoil his house.

²⁹Ou, comment quelqu'un peut-il entrer dans la maison d'un homme fort et piller ses biens, sans avoir auparavant lié cet homme fort? Alors seulement il pillera sa maison.

²⁹או איך יוכל איש לבוא לבית הגבור ולגזל את כליו אם לא יאסר בראשונה את הגבור ואחר ישסה את ביתו׃

³⁰He that is not with me is against me, and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

³⁰Celui qui n'est pas avec moi est contre moi, et celui qui n'assemble pas avec moi disperse.

³⁰כל אשר איננו אתי הוא לנגדי ואשר איננו מכנס אתי הוא מפזר׃

³¹Therefore I say unto you, Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.

³¹C'est pourquoi je vous dis: Tout péché et tout blasphème sera pardonné aux hommes, mais le blasphème contre l'Esprit ne sera point pardonné.

³¹על כן אני אמר לכם כל חטא וגדוף יסלח לאדם אך גדוף הרוח לא יסלח לאדם׃

³²And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in that which is to come.

³²Quiconque parlera contre le Fils de l'homme, il lui sera pardonné; mais quiconque parlera contre le Saint-Esprit, il ne lui sera pardonné ni dans ce siècle ni dans le siècle à venir.

³²וכל אשר ידבר דבר חרפה על בן האדם יסלח לו והמחרף את רוח הקדש לא יסלח לו לא בעולם הזה ולא בעולם הבא׃

³³Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by its fruit.

³³Ou dites que l'arbre est bon et que son fruit est bon, ou dites que l'arbre est mauvais et que son fruit est mauvais; car on connaît l'arbre par le fruit.

³³או עשו את העץ טוב ופריו טוב או עשו את העץ משחת ופריו משחת כי בפריו נכר העץ׃

³⁴Ye offspring of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

³⁴Races de vipères, comment pourriez-vous dire de bonnes choses, méchants comme vous l'êtes? Car c'est de l'abondance du coeur que la bouche parle.

³⁴ילדי הצפעונים איכה תוכלו למלל טוב ואתם רעים כי משפעת הלב ימלל הפה׃

³⁵The good man out of his good treasure bringeth forth good things: and the evil man out of his evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

³⁵L'homme bon tire de bonnes choses de son bon trésor, et l'homme méchant tire de mauvaises choses de son mauvais trésor.

³⁵האיש הטוב מאוצר לבו הטוב מוציא את הטוב והאיש הרע מאוצר הרע מוציא רע׃

³⁶And I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

³⁶Je vous le dis: au jour du jugement, les hommes rendront compte de toute parole vaine qu'ils auront proférée.

³⁶ואני אמר לכם כל מלה בטלה אשר ידברו בני האדם יתנו עליה חשבון ביום הדין׃

³⁷For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

³⁷Car par tes paroles tu seras justifié, et par tes paroles tu seras condamné.

³⁷כי מדבריך תצדק ומדבריך תחיב׃

³⁸Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, Teacher, we would see a sign from thee.

³⁸Alors quelques-uns des scribes et des pharisiens prirent la parole, et dirent: Maître, nous voudrions te voir faire un miracle.

³⁸ויענו מן הסופרים והפרושים ויאמרו רבי חפצנו לראות אות מידך׃

³⁹But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given it but the sign of Jonah the prophet:

³⁹Il leur répondit: Une génération méchante et adultère demande un miracle; il ne lui sera donné d'autre miracle que celui du prophète Jonas.

³⁹ויען ויאמר אליהם דור רע ומנאף מבקש לו אות ואות לא ינתן לו בלתי אם אות יונה הנביא׃

⁴⁰for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

⁴⁰Car, de même que Jonas fut trois jours et trois nuits dans le ventre d'un grand poisson, de même le Fils de l'homme sera trois jours et trois nuits dans le sein de la terre.

⁴⁰כי כאשר היה יונה במעי הדג שלשה ימים ושלשה לילות כן יהיה בן האדם בלב האדמה שלשה ימים ושלשה לילות׃

⁴¹The men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.

⁴¹Les hommes de Ninive se lèveront, au jour du jugement, avec cette génération et la condamneront, parce qu'ils se repentirent à la prédication de Jonas; et voici, il y a ici plus que Jonas.

⁴¹אנשי נינוה יקומו במשפט עם הדור הזה וירשיעוהו כי הם שבו בקריאת יונה והנה פה גדול מיונה׃

⁴²The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

⁴²La reine du Midi se lèvera, au jour du jugement, avec cette génération et la condamnera, parce qu'elle vint des extrémités de la terre pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon, et voici, il y a ici plus que Salomon.

⁴²מלכת תימן תקום במשפט עם הדור הזה ותרשיענו כי באה מקצות הארץ לשמע את חכמה שלמה והנה פה גדול משלמה׃

⁴³But the unclean spirit, when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and findeth it not.

⁴³Lorsque l'esprit impur est sorti d'un homme, il va par des lieux arides, cherchant du repos, et il n'en trouve point.

⁴³והרוח הטמאה אחרי צאתה מן האדם תשטט במקמות ציה לבקש לה מנוחה ולא תמצאנה׃

⁴⁴Then he saith, I will return into my house whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

⁴⁴Alors il dit: Je retournerai dans ma maison d'où je suis sorti; et, quand il arrive, il la trouve vide, balayée et ornée.

⁴⁴אז תאמר אשובה אל ביתי אשר יצאתי משם ובאה ומצאה אתו מפנה ומטאטא ומהדר׃

⁴⁵Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this evil generation.

⁴⁵Il s'en va, et il prend avec lui sept autres esprits plus méchants que lui; ils entrent dans la maison, s'y établissent, et la dernière condition de cet homme est pire que la première. Il en sera de même pour cette génération méchante.

⁴⁵ואחר תלך ולקחה אליה שבע רוחות אחרות רעות ממנה ובאו ושכנו שם והיתה אחרית האדם ההוא רעה מראשיתו כן יהיה גם לדור הרע הזה׃

⁴⁶While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, seeking to speak to him.

⁴⁶Comme Jésus s'adressait encore à la foule, voici, sa mère et ses frères, qui étaient dehors, cherchèrent à lui parler.

⁴⁶עודנו מדבר אל המון העם והנה אמו ואחיו עמדו בחוץ מבקשים לדבר אתו׃

⁴⁷And one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, seeking to speak to thee.

⁴⁷Quelqu'un lui dit: Voici, ta mère et tes frères sont dehors, et ils cherchent à te parler.

⁴⁷ויגד אליו הנה אמך ואחיך עמדים בחוץ ומבקשים לדבר אתך׃

⁴⁸But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

⁴⁸Mais Jésus répondit à celui qui le lui disait: Qui est ma mère, et qui sont mes frères?

⁴⁸ויען ויאמר אל האיש המגיד לו מי היא אמי ומי הם אחי׃

⁴⁹And he stretched forth his hand towards his disciples, and said, Behold, my mother and my brethren!

⁴⁹Puis, étendant la main sur ses disciples, il dit: Voici ma mère et mes frères.

⁴⁹ויט ידו על תלמידיו ויאמר הנה אמי ואחי׃

⁵⁰For whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.

⁵⁰Car, quiconque fait la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux, celui-là est mon frère, et ma soeur, et ma mère.

⁵⁰כי כל אשר יעשה רצון אבי שבשמים הוא אחי ואחותי ואמי׃
