¹Then there come to Jesus from Jerusalem Pharisees and scribes, saying,

¹Alors des pharisiens et des scribes vinrent de Jérusalem auprès de Jésus, et dirent:

¹אז באו אל ישוע הסופרים והפרושים אשר מירושלים׃

²Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

²Pourquoi tes disciples transgressent-ils la tradition des anciens? Car ils ne se lavent pas les mains, quand ils prennent leurs repas.

²ויאמרו מדוע תלמידיך עברים את קבלת הזקנים כי אינם רחצים את ידיהם באכלם לחם׃

³And he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?

³Il leur répondit: Et vous, pourquoi transgressez-vous le commandement de Dieu au profit de votre tradition?

³ויען ויאמר אליהם מדוע גם אתם עברים את מצות אלהים בעבור קבלתכם׃

⁴For God said, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die the death.

⁴Car Dieu a dit: Honore ton père et ta mère; et: Celui qui maudira son père ou sa mère sera puni de mort.

⁴כי אלהים צוה לאמר כבד את אביך ואת אמך ומקלל אביו ואמו מות יומת׃

⁵But ye say, whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is given [to God];

⁵Mais vous, vous dites: Celui qui dira à son père ou à sa mère: Ce dont j'aurais pu t'assister est une offrande à Dieu,

⁵ואתם אמרים האמר לאביו ולאמו קרבן כל מה שאתה נהנה לי אין עליו לכבד את אביו ואת אמו׃

⁶he shall not honor his father. And ye have made void the word of God because of your tradition.

⁶n'est pas tenu d'honorer son père ou sa mère. Vous annulez ainsi la parole de Dieu au profit de votre tradition.

⁶ותפרו את דבר האלהים בעבור קבלתכם׃

⁷Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,

⁷Hypocrites, Esaïe a bien prophétisé sur vous, quand il a dit:

⁷חנפים היטב נבא עליכם ישעיהו לאמר׃

⁸This people honoreth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.

⁸Ce peuple m'honore des lèvres, Mais son coeur est éloigné de moi.

⁸העם הזה נגש בפיו ובשפתיו כבדוני ולבו רחק ממני׃

⁹But in vain do they worship me, Teaching [as their] doctrines the precepts of men.

⁹C'est en vain qu'ils m'honorent, en enseignant des préceptes qui sont des commandements d'hommes.

⁹ותהו יראתם אתי מצות אנשים מלמדים׃

¹⁰And he called to him the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

¹⁰Ayant appelé à lui la foule, il lui dit: Ecoutez, et comprenez.

¹⁰ויקרא אל העם ויאמר להם שמעו והבינו׃

¹¹Not that which entereth into the mouth defileth the man; but that which proceedeth out of the mouth, this defileth the man.

¹¹Ce n'est pas ce qui entre dans la bouche qui souille l'homme; mais ce qui sort de la bouche, c'est ce qui souille l'homme.

¹¹לא הבא אל הפה יטמא את האדם כי אם היוצא מן הפה הוא מטמא את האדם׃

¹²Then came the disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?

¹²Alors ses disciples s'approchèrent, et lui dirent: Sais-tu que les pharisiens ont été scandalisés des paroles qu'ils ont entendues?

¹²ויגשו אליו תלמידיו ויאמרו הידעת כי הפרושים בשמעם את הדבר הזה נכשלו בו׃

¹³But he answered and said, Every plant which my heavenly Father planted not, shall be rooted up.

¹³Il répondit: Toute plante que n'a pas plantée mon Père céleste sera déracinée.

¹³ויען ויאמר כל מטע אשר לא נטע אבי שבשמים עקור יעקר׃

¹⁴Let them alone: they are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both shall fall into a pit.

¹⁴Laissez-les: ce sont des aveugles qui conduisent des aveugles; si un aveugle conduit un aveugle, ils tomberont tous deux dans une fosse.

¹⁴הניחו אותם מנהלים עורים המה לעורים וכי יוליך עור את העור ונפלו שניהם בתוך הבור׃

¹⁵And Peter answered and said unto him, Declare unto us the parable.

¹⁵Pierre, prenant la parole, lui dit: Explique-nous cette parabole.

¹⁵ויען פטרוס ויאמר אליו באר לנו את המשל הזה׃

¹⁶And he said, Are ye also even yet without understanding?

¹⁶Et Jésus dit: Vous aussi, êtes-vous encore sans intelligence?

¹⁶ויאמר ישוע עדנה גם אתם באין בינה׃

¹⁷Perceive ye not, that whatsoever goeth into the mouth passeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

¹⁷Ne comprenez-vous pas que tout ce qui entre dans la bouche va dans le ventre, puis est jeté dans les lieux secrets?

¹⁷העוד לא תשכילו כי כל הבא אל הפה יורד אל הכרש וישפך משם למוצאות׃

¹⁸But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart; and they defile the man.

¹⁸Mais ce qui sort de la bouche vient du coeur, et c'est ce qui souille l'homme.

¹⁸אבל היוצא מן הפה יוצא מן הלב והוא מטמא את האדם׃

¹⁹For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, railings:

¹⁹Car c'est du coeur que viennent les mauvaises pensées, les meurtres, les adultères, les impudicités, les vols, les faux témoignages, les calomnies.

¹⁹כי מן הלב יוצאות מחשבות רע רציחות נאופים זנונים גנבות עדיות שקר וגדופים׃

²⁰these are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not the man.

²⁰Voilà les choses qui souillent l'homme; mais manger sans s'être lavé les mains, cela ne souille point l'homme.

²⁰אלה הם המטמאים את האדם אבל אכול בלי נטילת ידים לא יטמא את האדם׃

²¹And Jesus went out thence, and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon.

²¹Jésus, étant parti de là, se retira dans le territoire de Tyr et de Sidon.

²¹ויצא ישוע משם ויסר אל גלילות צור וצידון׃

²²And behold, a Canaanitish woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon.

²²Et voici, une femme cananéenne, qui venait de ces contrées, lui cria: Aie pitié de moi, Seigneur, Fils de David! Ma fille est cruellement tourmentée par le démon.

²²והנה אשה כנענית יצאה מן הגבולות ההם ותצעק אליו לאמר חנני אדני בן דוד כי בתי מענה מאד על ידי שד׃

²³But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

²³Il ne lui répondit pas un mot, et ses disciples s'approchèrent, et lui dirent avec instance: Renvoie-la, car elle crie derrière nous.

²³והוא לא ענה אתה דבר ויגשו תלמידיו ויבקשו ממנו לאמר שלחה כי צעקת היא אחרינו׃

²⁴But he answered and said, I was not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

²⁴Il répondit: Je n'ai été envoyé qu'aux brebis perdues de la maison d'Israël.

²⁴ויען ויאמר לא שלחתי כי אם אל הצאן האבדות לבית ישראל׃

²⁵But she came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

²⁵Mais elle vint se prosterner devant lui, disant: Seigneur, secours-moi!

²⁵והיא באה ותשתחו לו לאמר אדני עזרני׃

²⁶And he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs.

²⁶Il répondit: Il n'est pas bien de prendre le pain des enfants, et de le jeter aux petits chiens.

²⁶ויען ויאמר לא טוב לקחת את לחם הבנים ולהשליכו לצעירי הכלבים׃

²⁷But she said, Yea, Lord: for even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

²⁷Oui, Seigneur, dit-elle, mais les petits chiens mangent les miettes qui tombent de la table de leurs maîtres.

²⁷ותאמר כן אדני אפס כי גם צעירי הכלבים יאכלו מפרורים הנפלים מעל שלחן אדניהם׃

²⁸Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it done unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was healed from that hour.

²⁸Alors Jésus lui dit: Femme, ta foi est grande; qu'il te soit fait comme tu veux. Et, à l'heure même, sa fille fut guérie.

²⁸ויען ישוע ויאמר אליה אשה גדלה אמונתך יהי לך כרצונך ותרפא בתה מן השעה ההיא׃

²⁹And Jesus departed thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.

²⁹Jésus quitta ces lieux, et vint près de la mer de Galilée. Etant monté sur la montagne, il s'y assit.

²⁹ויעבר ישוע משם ויבא אל ים הגליל ויעל ההרה וישב שם׃

³⁰And there came unto him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and they cast them down at this feet; and he healed them:

³⁰Alors s'approcha de lui une grande foule, ayant avec elle des boiteux, des aveugles, des muets, des estropiés, et beaucoup d'autres malades. On les mit à ses pieds, et il les guérit;

³⁰ויבאו אליו המון עם רב ועמהם פסחים עורים חרשים קטעים ורבים כהמה ויפילום לרגלי ישוע וירפאם׃

³¹insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, and lame walking, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel.

³¹en sorte que la foule était dans l'admiration de voir que les muets parlaient, que les estropiés étaient guéris, que les boiteux marchaient, que les aveugles voyaient; et elle glorifiait le Dieu d'Israël.

³¹ויתמהו העם בראותם את האלמים מדברים והקטעים בריאים והפסחים מתהלכים והעורים ראים וישבחו את אלהי ישראל׃

³²And Jesus called unto him his disciples, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat: and I would not send them away fasting, lest haply they faint on the way.

³²Jésus, ayant appelé ses disciples, dit: Je suis ému de compassion pour cette foule; car voilà trois jours qu'ils sont près de moi, et ils n'ont rien à manger. Je ne veux pas les renvoyer à jeun, de peur que les forces ne leur manquent en chemin.

³²ויקרא ישוע אל תלמידיו ויאמר נכמרו רחמי על העם כי זה שלשת ימים עמדו עמדי ואין להם מה לאכל ואינני אבה לשלחם רעבים פן יתעלפו בדרך׃

³³And the disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so many loaves in a desert place as to fill so great a multitude?

³³Les disciples lui dirent: Comment nous procurer dans ce lieu désert assez de pains pour rassasier une si grande foule?

³³ויאמרו אליו התלמידים מאין לנו די לחם במדבר להשביע את ההמון הגדול הזה׃

³⁴And Jesus said unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few small fishes.

³⁴Jésus leur demanda: Combien avez-vous de pains? Sept, répondirent-ils, et quelques petits poissons.

³⁴ויאמר ישוע אליהם כמה ככרות לחם לכם ויאמרו שבע ומעט דגים קטנים׃

³⁵And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;

³⁵Alors il fit asseoir la foule par terre,

³⁵ויצו את המון העם לשבת לארץ׃

³⁶and he took the seven loaves and the fishes; and he gave thanks and brake, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.

³⁶prit les sept pains et les poissons, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il les rompit et les donna à ses disciples, qui les distribuèrent à la foule.

³⁶ויקח את שבע ככרות הלחם ואת הדגים ויברך ויפרס ויתן אל התלמידים והתלמידים נתנו לעם׃

³⁷And they all ate, and were filled: and they took up that which remained over of the broken pieces, seven baskets full.

³⁷Tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés, et l'on emporta sept corbeilles pleines des morceaux qui restaient.

³⁷ויאכלו כלם וישבעו וישאו מן הפתותים הנותרים שבעה דודים מלאים׃

³⁸And they that did eat were four thousand men, besides women and children.

³⁸Ceux qui avaient mangé étaient quatre mille hommes, sans les femmes et les enfants.

³⁸והאכלים היו ארבעת אלפי איש מלבד הנשים והטף׃

³⁹And he sent away the multitudes, and entered into the boat, and came into the borders of Magadan.

³⁹Ensuite, il renvoya la foule, monta dans la barque, et se rendit dans la contrée de Magadan.

³⁹וישלח את העם וירד באניה ויבא אל גבול מגדלא׃
