¹And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart:

¹Six jours après, Jésus prit avec lui Pierre, Jacques, et Jean, son frère, et il les conduisit à l'écart sur une haute montagne.

¹ומקץ ששת ימים לקח לו ישוע את פטרוס ואת יעקב ואת יוחנן אחיו ויעלם בדד על הר גבוה׃

²and he was transfigured before them; and his face did shine as the sun, and his garments became white as the light.

²Il fut transfiguré devant eux; son visage resplendit comme le soleil, et ses vêtements devinrent blancs comme la lumière.

²וישתנה לעיניהם ויזהירו פניו כשמש ובגדיו כאור הלבינו׃

³And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with him.

³Et voici, Moïse et Elie leur apparurent, s'entretenant avec lui.

³והנה נראו אליהם משה ואליהו מדברים אתו׃

⁴And Peter answered, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, I will make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

⁴Pierre, prenant la parole, dit à Jésus: Seigneur, il est bon que nous soyons ici; si tu le veux, je dresserai ici trois tentes, une pour toi, une pour Moïse, et une pour Elie.

⁴ויען פטרוס ויאמר אל ישוע אדני טוב היותנו פה אם תחפץ נעשה נא פה שלש סכות לך אחת ולמשה אחת ולאליהו אחת׃

⁵While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

⁵Comme il parlait encore, une nuée lumineuse les couvrit. Et voici, une voix fit entendre de la nuée ces paroles: Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui j'ai mis toute mon affection: écoutez-le!

⁵עודנו מדבר והנה ענן אור הצל עליהם והנה קול מתוך הענן אמר זה בני ידידי אשר רציתי בו אליו תשמעון׃

⁶And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

⁶Lorsqu'ils entendirent cette voix, les disciples tombèrent sur leur face, et furent saisis d'une grande frayeur.

⁶ויהי כשמע התלמידים ויפלו על פניהם וייראו מאד׃

⁷And Jesus came and touched them and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

⁷Mais Jésus, s'approchant, les toucha, et dit: Levez-vous, n'ayez pas peur!

⁷ויגש ישוע ויגע בם ויאמר קומו ואל תיראו׃

⁸And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, save Jesus only.

⁸Ils levèrent les yeux, et ne virent que Jésus seul.

⁸וישאו עיניהם ולא ראו איש בלתי את ישוע לבדו׃

⁹And as they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen from the dead.

⁹Comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur donna cet ordre: Ne parlez à personne de cette vision, jusqu'à ce que le Fils de l'homme soit ressuscité des morts.

⁹וברדתם מן ההר צוה ישוע אתם לאמר לא תגידו לאיש את דבר המראה עד אם קם בן האדם מעם המתים׃

¹⁰And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elijah must first come?

¹⁰Les disciples lui firent cette question: Pourquoi donc les scribes disent-ils qu'Elie doit venir premièrement?

¹⁰וישאלהו תלמידיו לאמר למה זה אמרים הסופרים כי אליהו בוא יבוא בראשונה׃

¹¹And he answered and said, Elijah indeed cometh, and shall restore all things:

¹¹Il répondit: Il est vrai qu'Elie doit venir, et rétablir toutes choses.

¹¹ויען ישוע ויאמר אליהם הנה אליהו בא בראשונה והשיב את הכל׃

¹²but I say into you, that Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but did unto him whatsoever they would. Even so shall the Son of man also suffer of them.

¹²Mais je vous dis qu'Elie est déjà venu, qu'ils ne l'ont pas reconnu, et qu'ils l'ont traité comme ils ont voulu. De même le Fils de l'homme souffrira de leur part.

¹²אבל אמר אני לכם כי אליהו כבר בא ולא הכירהו ויעשו בו כרצונם וכן גם בן האדם יענה על ידם׃

¹³Then understood the disciples that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

¹³Les disciples comprirent alors qu'il leur parlait de Jean-Baptiste.

¹³אז הבינו התלמידים כי על יוחנן המטביל דבר אליהם׃

¹⁴And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling to him, saying,

¹⁴Lorsqu'ils furent arrivés près de la foule, un homme vint se jeter à genoux devant Jésus, et dit:

¹⁴ויהי כבואם אל המון העם ויגש אליו איש ויכרע על ברכיו לנגדו׃

¹⁵Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is epileptic, and suffereth grievously; for oft-times he falleth into the fire, and off-times into the water.

¹⁵Seigneur, aie pitié de mon fils, qui est lunatique, et qui souffre cruellement; il tombe souvent dans le feu, et souvent dans l'eau.

¹⁵ויאמר אדני רחם נא על בני כי מכה ירח הוא וחליו רע כי פעמים רבות הוא נפל באש ופעמים רבות אל תוך המים׃

¹⁶And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

¹⁶Je l'ai amené à tes disciples, et ils n'ont pas pu le guérir.

¹⁶ואביא אתו אל תלמידיך ולא יכלו לרפא לו׃

¹⁷And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him hither to me.

¹⁷Race incrédule et perverse, répondit Jésus, jusques à quand serai-je avec vous? jusques à quand vous supporterai-je? Amenez-le-moi ici.

¹⁷ויען ישוע ויאמר הוי דור בלתי מאמין ופתלתל עד מתי אהיה עמכם עד מתי אסבל אתכם הביאו אותו אלי הנה׃

¹⁸And Jesus rebuked him; and the demon went out of him: and the boy was cured from that hour.

¹⁸Jésus parla sévèrement au démon, qui sortit de lui, et l'enfant fut guéri à l'heure même.

¹⁸ויגער בו ישוע ויצא השד ממנו וירפא הנער מן השעה ההיא׃

¹⁹Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast it out?

¹⁹Alors les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus, et lui dirent en particulier: Pourquoi n'avons-nous pu chasser ce démon?

¹⁹ויגשו התלמידים אל ישוע והוא לבדו ויאמרו מדוע אנחנו לא יכלנו לגרשו׃

²⁰And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

²⁰C'est à cause de votre incrédulité, leur dit Jésus. Je vous le dis en vérité, si vous aviez de la foi comme un grain de sénevé, vous diriez à cette montagne: Transporte-toi d'ici là, et elle se transporterait; rien ne vous serait impossible.

²⁰ויאמר ישוע אליהם מפני אשר אינכם מאמינים כי אמן אמר אני לכם אם יש לכם אמונה כגרגר החרדל ואמרתם אל ההר הזה העתק מזה שמה ונעתק ממקומו ואין דבר אשר יבצר מכם׃

²¹[But this kind goeth not out save by prayer and fasting.]

²¹Mais cette sorte de démon ne sort que par la prière et par le jeûne.

²¹אבל המין הזה לא יצא כי אם בתפלה ובצום׃

²²And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be delivered up into the hands of men;

²²Pendant qu'ils parcouraient la Galilée, Jésus leur dit: Le Fils de l'homme doit être livré entre les mains des hommes;

²²ויהי בהתהלכם בארץ הגליל ויאמר אליהם ישוע עתיד בן האדם להמסר בידי אנשים׃

²³and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised up. And they were exceeding sorry.

²³ils le feront mourir, et le troisième jour il ressuscitera. Ils furent profondément attristés.

²³ויהרגהו וביום השלישי קום יקום ויתעצבו מאד׃

²⁴And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received the half-shekel came to Peter, and said, Doth not your teacher pay the half-shekel?

²⁴Lorsqu'ils arrivèrent à Capernaüm, ceux qui percevaient les deux drachmes s'adressèrent à Pierre, et lui dirent: Votre maître ne paie-t-il pas les deux drachmes?

²⁴ויהי כבואם אל כפר נחום ויגשו אל פטרוס גבי מחצית השקל ויאמרו הלא יתן רבכם את מחצית השקל׃

²⁵He saith, Yea. And when he came into the house, Jesus spake first to him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive toll or tribute? from their sons, or from strangers?

²⁵Oui, dit-il. Et quand il fut entré dans la maison, Jésus le prévint, et dit: Que t'en semble, Simon? Les rois de la terre, de qui perçoivent-ils des tributs ou des impôts? de leurs fils, ou des étrangers?

²⁵ויאמר הן ובבואו הביתה קדם אתו ישוע לשאל מה דעתך שמעון מלכי הארץ ממי יקחו מכס ומס מאת בניהם או מאת הזרים׃

²⁶And when he said, From strangers, Jesus said unto him, Therefore the sons are free.

²⁶Il lui dit: Des étrangers. Et Jésus lui répondit: Les fils en sont donc exempts.

²⁶ויאמר פטרוס אליו מאת הזרים ויאמר לו ישוע אם כן אפוא הבנים חפשים המה׃

²⁷But, lest we cause them to stumble, go thou to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a shekel: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

²⁷Mais, pour ne pas les scandaliser, va à la mer, jette l'hameçon, et tire le premier poisson qui viendra; ouvre-lui la bouche, et tu trouveras un statère. Prends-le, et donne-le-leur pour moi et pour toi.

²⁷אך למען לא נהיה להם למכשול לך אל הים והשלכת אל תוכו חכה ואת הדג הראשון אשר יעלה שאהו וכאשר תפתח את פיו תמצא בו אסתירא אותו קח לך ונתת להם בעדי ובעדך׃
