¹In that hour came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

¹En ce moment, les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus, et dirent: Qui donc est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux?

¹בשעה ההיא נגשו התלמידים אל ישוע ויאמרו מי אפוא גדול מחבריו במלכות השמים׃

²And he called to him a little child, and set him in the midst of them,

²Jésus, ayant appelé un petit enfant, le plaça au milieu d'eux,

²ויקרא ישוע אליו ילד קטן ויעמידהו בתוכם׃

³and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

³et dit: Je vous le dis en vérité, si vous ne vous convertissez et si vous ne devenez comme les petits enfants, vous n'entrerez pas dans le royaume des cieux.

³ויאמר אמן אמר אני לכם אם לא תשובו להיות כילדים לא תבוא אל מלכות השמים׃

⁴Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

⁴C'est pourquoi, quiconque se rendra humble comme ce petit enfant sera le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux.

⁴לכן כל המשפיל את עצמו כילד הזה הוא הגדול במלכות השמים׃

⁵And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me:

⁵Et quiconque reçoit en mon nom un petit enfant comme celui-ci, me reçoit moi-même.

⁵וכל אשר יקבל ילד אחד כזה בשמי אותי הוא מקבל׃

⁶But whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and [that] he should be sunk in the depth of the sea.

⁶Mais, si quelqu'un scandalisait un de ces petits qui croient en moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu'on suspendît à son cou une meule de moulin, et qu'on le jetât au fond de la mer.

⁶וכל המכשיל את אחד מן הקטנים האלה המאמינים בי נוח לו שיתלה פלח רכב על צוארו וטבע במצולות ים׃

⁷Woe unto the world because of occasions of stumbling! for it must needs be that the occasions come; but woe to that man through whom the occasion cometh!

⁷Malheur au monde à cause des scandales! Car il est nécessaire qu'il arrive des scandales; mais malheur à l'homme par qui le scandale arrive!

⁷אוי לעולם מפני המכשלים כי המכשלים צריכים לבוא אבל אוי לאיש ההוא אשר על ידו יבוא המכשול׃

⁸And if thy hand or thy foot causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed or halt, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire.

⁸Si ta main ou ton pied est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-les et jette-les loin de toi; mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie boiteux ou manchot, que d'avoir deux pieds ou deux mains et d'être jeté dans le feu éternel.

⁸ואם תכשילך ידך או רגלך קצץ אותה והשלך ממך טוב לך לבוא לחיים פסח או קטע מהיות לך שתי ידים או שתי רגלים ותשלך אל אש עולם׃

⁹And if thine eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire.

⁹Et si ton oeil est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi; mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie, n'ayant qu'un oeil, que d'avoir deux yeux et d'être jeté dans le feu de la géhenne.

⁹ואם עינך תכשליך נקר אותה והשלך ממך טוב לך לבוא לחיים בעין אחת מהיות לך שתי עינים ותשלך אל אש גיהנם׃

¹⁰See that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.

¹⁰Gardez-vous de mépriser un seul de ces petits; car je vous dis que leurs anges dans les cieux voient continuellement la face de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.

¹⁰ראו פן תבזו אחד wקטנים האלה כי אמר אני לכם כי מלאכיהם ראים תמיד את פני אבי שבשמים׃

¹¹[For the Son of man came to save that which was lost.]

¹¹Car le Fils de l'homme est venu sauver ce qui était perdu.

¹¹כי בא בן האדם להושיע את האבד׃

¹²How think ye? if any man have a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and go unto the mountains, and seek that which goeth astray?

¹²Que vous en semble? Si un homme a cent brebis, et que l'une d'elles s'égare, ne laisse-t-il pas les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres sur les montagnes, pour aller chercher celle qui s'est égarée?

¹²מה דעתכם כי יהיו לאיש מאה כבשים ותעה אחד מהם הלא יעזב את התשעים ותשעה על ההרים והלך לבקש את התעה׃

¹³And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth over it more than over the ninety and nine which have not gone astray.

¹³Et, s'il la trouve, je vous le dis en vérité, elle lui cause plus de joie que les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont pas égarées.

¹³והיה כאשר ימצאהו אמן אמר אני לכם כי ישמח עליו יותר מעל התשעים ותשעה אשר לא תעו׃

¹⁴Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

¹⁴De même, ce n'est pas la volonté de votre Père qui est dans les cieux qu'il se perde un seul de ces petits.

¹⁴כן איננו רצון מלפני אביכם שבשמים כי יאבד אחד מן הקטנים האלה׃

¹⁵And if thy brother sin against thee, go, show him his fault between thee and him alone: if he hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

¹⁵Si ton frère a péché, va et reprends-le entre toi et lui seul. S'il t'écoute, tu as gagné ton frère.

¹⁵וכי יחטא לך אחיך לך והוכחת אותו בינך ובינו לבדו ואם ישמע אליך קנית לך אחיך׃

¹⁶But if he hear [thee] not, take with thee one or two more, that at the mouth of two witnesses or three every word may be established.

¹⁶Mais, s'il ne t'écoute pas, prends avec toi une ou deux personnes, afin que toute l'affaire se règle sur la déclaration de deux ou de trois témoins.

¹⁶ואם לא ישמע קח עמך עוד אחד או שנים למען על פי שנים או שלשה עדים יקום כל דבר׃

¹⁷And if he refuse to hear them, tell it unto the church: and if he refuse to hear the church also, let him be unto thee as the Gentile and the publican.

¹⁷S'il refuse de les écouter, dis-le à l'Eglise; et s'il refuse aussi d'écouter l'Eglise, qu'il soit pour toi comme un païen et un publicain.

¹⁷ואם לא ישמע אליהם הגד אל הקהל ואם לא ישמע גם אל הקהל והיה לך כגוי וכמוכס׃

¹⁸Verily I say unto you, what things soever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and what things soever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

¹⁸Je vous le dis en vérité, tout ce que vous lierez sur la terre sera lié dans le ciel, et tout ce que vous délierez sur la terre sera délié dans le ciel.

¹⁸אמן אמר אני לכם כל אשר תאסרו על הארץ אסור יהיה בשמים וכל אשר תתירו על הארץ מתר יהיה בשמים׃

¹⁹Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven.

¹⁹Je vous dis encore que, si deux d'entre vous s'accordent sur la terre pour demander une chose quelconque, elle leur sera accordée par mon Père qui est dans les cieux.

¹⁹ועוד אמר אני לכם שנים מכם כי יועצו יחדו בארץ על כל דבר אשר ישאלו היה יהיה להם מאת אבי שבשמים׃

²⁰For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

²⁰Car là où deux ou trois sont assemblés en mon nom, je suis au milieu d'eux.

²⁰כי בכל מקום אשר שנים או שלשה נאספו בשמי שם אני בתוכם׃

²¹Then came Peter and said to him, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? until seven times?

²¹Alors Pierre s'approcha de lui, et dit: Seigneur, combien de fois pardonnerai-je à mon frère, lorsqu'il péchera contre moi? Sera-ce jusqu'à sept fois?

²¹ויגש אליו פטרוס ויאמר לו אדני כמה פעמים יחטא לי אחי וסלחתי לו העד שבע פעמים׃

²²Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times; but, Until seventy times seven.

²²Jésus lui dit: Je ne te dis pas jusqu'à sept fois, mais jusqu'à septante fois sept fois.

²²ויאמר אליו ישוע לא אמר לך עד שבע פעמים כי אם עד שבעים ושבע׃

²³Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, who would make a reckoning with his servants.

²³C'est pourquoi, le royaume des cieux est semblable à un roi qui voulut faire rendre compte à ses serviteurs.

²³על כן דומה מלכות השמים למלך בשר ודם אשר חפץ לעשות חשבון עם עבדיו׃

²⁴And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, that owed him ten thousand talents.

²⁴Quand il se mit à compter, on lui en amena un qui devait dix mille talents.

²⁴וכאשר החל לחשב הובא לפניו איש אשר חיב לו עשרת אלפים ככרי כסף׃

²⁵But forasmuch as he had not [wherewith] to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

²⁵Comme il n'avait pas de quoi payer, son maître ordonna qu'il fût vendu, lui, sa femme, ses enfants, et tout ce qu'il avait, et que la dette fût acquittée.

²⁵ולא היה לו לשלם ויצו אדניו למכר אותו ואת אשתו ואת בניו ואת כל אשר לו וכן ישלם׃

²⁶The servant therefore fell down and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

²⁶Le serviteur, se jetant à terre, se prosterna devant lui, et dit: Seigneur, aie patience envers moi, et je te paierai tout.

²⁶ויפל העבד וישתחו לו לאמר אדני הארך לי אפך ואת כל אשלמה לך׃

²⁷And the lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.

²⁷Emu de compassion, le maître de ce serviteur le laissa aller, et lui remit la dette.

²⁷ויהמו רחמי אדוני העבד ההוא ויפטרהו וישמט לו את החוב׃

²⁸But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred shillings: and he laid hold on him, and took [him] by the throat, saying, Pay what thou owest.

²⁸Après qu'il fut sorti, ce serviteur rencontra un de ses compagnons qui lui devait cent deniers. Il le saisit et l'étranglait, en disant: Paie ce que tu me dois.

²⁸ויצא העבד ההוא מלפניו וימצא אחד מחבריו העבדים והוא חיב לו מאה דינרים ויחזק בו ויחנקהו לאמר שלם את אשר אתה חיב לי׃

²⁹So his fellow-servant fell down and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee.

²⁹Son compagnon, se jetant à terre, le suppliait, disant: Aie patience envers moi, et je te paierai.

²⁹ויפל חברו לפני רגליו ויבקש ממנו לאמר הארך לי אפך ואשלמה לך הכל׃

³⁰And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay that which was due.

³⁰Mais l'autre ne voulut pas, et il alla le jeter en prison, jusqu'à ce qu'il eût payé ce qu'il devait.

³⁰והוא מאן וילך וישליכהו במשמר עד כי ישלם לו את חובו׃

³¹So when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were exceeding sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

³¹Ses compagnons, ayant vu ce qui était arrivé, furent profondément attristés, et ils allèrent raconter à leur maître tout ce qui s'était passé.

³¹וחבריו העבדים ראו את הנעשה ויעצבו מאד ויבאו ויגידו לאדניהם את כל אשר נעשה׃

³²Then his lord called him unto him, and saith to him, Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou besoughtest me:

³²Alors le maître fit appeler ce serviteur, et lui dit: Méchant serviteur, je t'avais remis en entier ta dette, parce que tu m'en avais supplié;

³²ויקרא אליו אדניו ויאמר לו אתה העבד הרע את כל החוב ההוא השמטתי לך יען אשר בקשת ממני׃

³³shouldest not thou also have had mercy on thy fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on thee?

³³ne devais-tu pas aussi avoir pitié de ton compagnon, comme j'ai eu pitié de toi?

³³הלא היה לך גם אתה לרחם על העבד חברך כאשר רחמתי אני עליך׃

³⁴And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due.

³⁴Et son maître, irrité, le livra aux bourreaux, jusqu'à ce qu'il eût payé tout ce qu'il devait.

³⁴ויקצף אדניו ויסגר אותו למיסרים עד כי ישלם את כל חובו׃

³⁵So shall also my heavenly Father do unto you, if ye forgive not every one his brother from your hearts.

³⁵C'est ainsi que mon Père céleste vous traitera, si chacun de vous ne pardonne à son frère de tout son coeur.

³⁵ככה יעשה לכם גם אבי שבשמים אם לא תסלחו איש איש לאחיו בכל לבבכם את חטאתם׃
